My first visit to Lee's Summit, and wow... what a restaurant! If you like barbecue and you don't pay these folks a visit, you are doing yourself a huge disservice. First off, the place is huge. Despite that, it's not too loud, and it's not overwhelming. I really enjoyed the meal here with 4 other business associates. Service was spot on. Really. Our waiter made us feel like we were the most important people in the place. I can't say enough about how important that is, but I'm sure most of you understand that already! I had the brisket and burnt tips, and they were amazing. As a side, the fries were also fantastic, and the barbecue sauce was superb. I don't normally go overboard about dining at a restaurant, but this place deserves every good review it gets. I cannot recommend Jack Stack highly enough. I only wish I didn't live 4 hours away - I'd look forward to going here one a much more regular basis! read more

It's been a long time since we sat down for a meal at Jack Stack Barbecue in Lees Summit. We ordered a barbecue platter w brisket & ribs and hickory smoked baked beans, chicken and potato au gratin, Mac n cheese w burnt ends and bbq beans, and double burnt ends w bbq beans. The portions were perfect. Couldn't have eaten more. Flavors around the table exceptional. Service was terrific. I always enjoy someone who likes to kid and joke around a bit. We came to KC for opening day for the Royals 2025 season! Of course you have to do BBQ in KC! I had hear d about Jack Stack before. It never made it there. I loved the restaurant ambiance. It smelled good from outside! I love beef ribs! The flavor was great, but one of the 2 was so fatty, I felt ripped off. I should've asked the server to replace it but I had burnt ends and brisket to eat so chose not to. I loved the 4 different BBq sauces our server let us try. They were all good, the hottest hits you at the back of the throat. My surprise was the hickory beans! The best flavor and meat in them. My hubby pd the +16 for his 2 choice meal and got the crown beef rib. It was full of meat and large. The meat was like having a roast on a bone He added the turkey, but was disappointed in it. The place is large and loud. Even though the place was packed the service was 5 star. But it all comes down to the food. And while the food was good it wasn't great. You won't go away disappointed unless you were looking for the best BBQ in the Midwest. The burnt ends like most of what they called burnt ends today really weren't. The burnt ends should literally end with no more not burnt meant than there is burnt meat. It was more like a shredded brisket sandwich with chopped brisket than what I would call a burnt end sandwich. But it was good. And the bbq sauce was good as well. The beans were the star of the show. Laced with meat and great bbq flavor that had no need to add bbq sauce to it. Lastly the fries. Just ok, not bad but not great. A frozen version of fresh cut which are never as good as fresh cut fries. At least they weren't those battered fries. As for the price/value equation. Better than spending your money on Taco Bell value meals but not better than getting the double double meal at in n out. Unless of course you're tired of going to in n out all the time. read more

Having visited the KCMO area over the years (our son moved down in June 2001 to take a promotion), we've had the pleasure of visiting several wonderful restaurants throughout the city and 'burbs. We have visited Jack Stack kore than once, but last night's experience was exceptional. Because of traffic conditions, we were forced to change our reservation not once but twice! The hostess was understanding and reassuring us there would be no trouble getting a table. We were seated promptly and our fantastic server, Emma, greeted us with a warm smile and pleasantries. Spit, spot. Drinks were served. Orders placed and the appetizer served. Our guests were wowed by the huge, uniformly sized DELICIOUS onion rings. And commented on the yummy horseradish sauce. The plates were presented next. Lovely plating! Bravo to the kitchen crew!!! Our guests were pleasantly impressed with the size of the restaurant, how busy it was for a Wednesday evening and tremendous service we the received. Emma was a ROCK STAR! We appreciated the attention to detail on food due to a couple of dietary concerns. Again, the kitchen staff exceeded our expectations. Many thanks. The place is well lit, comfortable, roomy seating. We had a party of 6. The waiting area was pretty packed, bar was packed as well. So we were trying to make use of what was "open" in the waiting area. Unfortunately there was a waitress that walked by, rudely asked us to move. Then came back and screamed that we needed to "move" the waiting area, over. There wasn't any room for us to "'move over". Another person waiting next to us, had mentioned " that was oddly rude and loud. Where are we to move? ". After waiting for roughly 30 mins, even with a set reservation, we were able to finally be seated. Our serve was spectacular. She was attentive, knowledgeable and made great recommendations! Unfortunately the meal I had was subpar (I originally wanted Jack's BBQ Trout. But they had no more trout, that night). The grilled salmon sandwich was pretty basic. This was the first time I had ever tried the famous Jack Stack and I have to admit I was BLOWN AWAY. I a so glad there is also a location in Overland Park. I didn't grow up in Kansas City, so I don't often crave BBQ (I know!), but this place has probably changed my mind. It was the first time I had BBQ Turkey, and I loved it. The meat was so tender and juicy. At first I was upset that they had put BBQ sauce on it, but by the end I wanted it on every bite of my meal. Everything I had was delicious!! I cannot recommend this place enough!! Also, when we arrived the parking lot was completely full and the place looked packed, but we were seated within minutes. This location is okay. The service is great here! We very much love the attention that we get and the helpfulness of the staff. The beans are OK and some of the meats are fine. Our family have been coming here for years to celebrate life events and every time we've been the food and service have always been amazing. Just recently my husband and I had lunch. Everything was good except the smoked turkey breast! It was definitely different. Not the usual texture and taste. I had to send it back and order something else. Our waiter explained to us that they had just switched to a fresh turkey breast. Not a fan at all. It has a very odd taste. Not a smoked flavor at all! 75% of our family orders the turkey breast! And our family is big! 20 plus people! Please consider switching back to the one you've always had! We were seated close to the windows and our service was excellent! read more

We went here for dinner to celebrate a birthday. This is my first visit to this location. It is beautiful inside. I like the chandelier lighting. For dinner, I ordered their two meat entrees with briskets and burned ends and side order of beans and corn. Delicious, cook to perfection. The meats was really tender just as I like it. Food seems to always be freshly prepared. Went for a light meal, so I ordered the potato with turkey. It's generally only on the lunch menu, but they'll still prepare it for dinner if ordered. Decided on beans for a side to offset the savoriness of the potato. The server was attentive and friendly. Kept our water filled without asking. Checked on us several times throughout our visit. You can always tell when the serving staff takes pride in their job, which I love because it makes your dining experience so much more enjoyable. The ambiance was laid back and peaceful. Great bbq restaurant! Ended up splitting the Roundup, which included pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, and beef burnt ends (which we substituted for instead of turkey). All the meats were fantastic! They were all very high quality and had amazing taste. My favorite meat was probably the burnt ends due to the tenderness of the meat. The sides (corn/baked beans) were also great. Also tried out the Crème Bruelee and it was solid! With that said, there were a couple of things that I think could have been improved upon. Service was very slow (took quite a bit of time for drinks, food, dessert, and even the bill to come out). Also, I've tried the Country Club Plaza location in the past, and the ribs were much better prepared there (they were a bit too dry in this location). Overall, I still had a good experience here and would recommend if you're looking for some solid barbecue. read more

We made a reservation for our meal, for mid afternoon on a weekend. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were informed that the table we were going to be sat at was still occupied, and it was going to be a little bit. Understandable, it was a busy weekend. The staff were very kind and apologetic about the situation. Once we got sat down, service was very fast and friendly. The food was AMAZING of course. No complaints. Came here for lunch base off the good experience I had at their other location. It was pretty crowded for dine in around 12:30pm, although we did have to wait but it wasn't for long. (Less than 10 mins) I ordered the KC combo 3 meats, bone in dark meat chicken, lamb ribs and beef burnt ends with cheese potatoes. I felt the meat could've been seasoned better, the cheese melt potatoes were excellent! I'll definitely be ordering those again as well as the KC combo exactly how I had it. I came by for dinner on the last day of a long work trip to pickup dinner. It was only a half hour from close, and chose to order in the restaurant due to having trouble deciding on what I wanted. I was helped by Stacy at the carry out counter and was absolutely blown away by the level of service I received. She took time while answering my extensive questions, provided insightful recommendations, and even gave me some samples to be sure I enjoyed my meal. I enjoyed the sauce samples enough I picked up two bottles to bring home! Food was great, space is very nice, but the staff will have me coming back if I'm ever back in the area. Went here yesterday for dinner. Originally was going to give this restaurant 3 stars. Waited forever for our food and then when food arrived, mine was cold but wife's food was warm. They remade my food and it was nice and hot. The food was excellent. Our server was great, do not remember her name....when she found out our food was cold she brought the manager over who had kitchen remake my food and profusely apologized. However, when we got the bill, a nice surprise, the comped ALL our food and we were only charged for a drink. We did not ask for it to be comped, but very nice that they did. I really did like the food once I got a not cold version, I really liked the beans. If we were in the area again, we would return here. read more
