Had a lovely dining experience at Deme Restaurant in LA! The location has a hidden entrance and parking is net to the Figueroa Hotel Valet Parking cost $20. Valet staff was helpful and friendly gave us directions since we don't know the area. The casita entrance is next to Deme Restaurant entrance. Deme restaurant is on the other side of the poll. Restaurant is between the Figueroa Hotel bar, poll and Casita even building. Confusing but the security guard showed us the way. Deme is beautiful with a stylish entrance that really sets the mood. The food? Absolutely fresh and flavorful. The meat was delightful, and the chicken had layers of delicious, well-balanced flavors. The dips were refreshing and bursting with fantastic taste, and the pita bread was fresh and warm -- the perfect pairing. Only downside: the portions were smaller than expected. The photos made them look larger, so that was a little surprising. Next time, I will go for the 14 oz ribeye -- seems like a better portion size for me. Unfortunately, they were out of octopus during our visit -- my husband was looking forward to trying it. Hopefully next time! Shoutout to the staff, who were friendly, attentive, and resourceful. I am Turkish. And I have to say, unfortunately, I left very hungry the other night with my friends. The ambiance is great. But the portions are extremely small. The bread comes in a huge pot but the apps come in very little plates. Every single food we ordered was so small... We ordered the duck shawarma. It was not good at all. No spices or anything, the meat was so hard. The condiments that came with it on the side really did not complement the meat except tahini. (And tahini was very dense.) this dish needs a SAUCE. A good runny sauce. The duck meat tasted so bland...you cant have a shawarma dish that tastes bland. It's gotta have full on flavor. The Turkish Manti: I mean are you kidding me, by giving me 6-7 pieces of little mantis? If you are from Turkey, you would know thats not how it would come. I know its an appetizer but come on. Turkish food MUST be generous. Humus and babaganoush and the other dips: they are so freaking small. Each of them was $10. Its unbelievable. My friends had to order fries and extra bread. This gorgeous restaurant just opened in the Hotel Figueroa in DTLA. They have a deal where you can try all of their dips for $30, which was a good amount of food, and they bring out fresh pita constantly. My favorite dips were the whipped ricotta with harissa honey, grated tomato, and hummus. We also tried the summer fattoush with peaches and feta, which was good as well. I don't think I would go back, but the dips deal was fun and the restaurant is beautiful. read more

What a gem of a place! It's located inside the boutique hotel where gps will take you. It's also accessible from the back of that hotel and across from Courtyard. When you walk into the restaurant, you will be transported into a different country. It's a beautifully decorated indoor/outdoor space that makes you feel like you're not in the middle of LA. My group came in hungry and we didn't hold back. They have a great selection of wines and cocktails as well as a zero proof menu with 4 choices. We ordered the sampler platter of all of their dips and they were all exquisite. We also got a harvest salad, and beef and chicken kabobs which were all delicious. We also had the shawarma large plates - duck and mushroom. The mushroom was absolutely phenomenal and a great choice for vegetarians. The duck was also amazing. If you're coming for a date, I would recommend ordering a dip or salad to share then share one of the large plates. They come with all the fixings. When it comes to flavors, the dishes will satisfy your palate for adventure (or just a vacation you can't take just yet). read more

The food was absolutely delicious... from the warm pita and ethereally smooth dips to the wide variety of interesting takes on mezze dishes (we loved the little dumplings!).... it was all amazing. Do not skip dessert! Order both the small baklava bites and the astoundingly delicious vanilla soft serve with sesame caramel! I haven't had a meal like this in a LONG time! All the flavors were authentic and everything was perfectly cooked. I had my doubts being it's in a hotel, but I was thoroughly impressed. The chicken skewers and duck shawarma were phenomenal but the blue prawn stole the show; I wish they gave more than 2 but it is just an appetizer. The pita bread is so fresh and tasty; it stays warm through the whole meal in the basket. The service is a little slow when it gets busy but our waitress was amazing and so sweet; she was extremely knowledgable as well. The ambiance is a nice escape from the "LA" scene and brings peace. It is "outdoor" given it faces the pool; but there are heaters everywhere. I will 100% be back because I need to try their ice cream (in addition to any new items). read more

Service from host to bus boy were all amazingly friendly. Our waiter was very helpful and suggested foods from the menu! The ambiance was lovely and relaxing inside the Hotel Figueroa which is a beautiful historic hotel. Eddie was our server and he was the right amount of attentive, and always had a great smile every time he came by. We had a dip trio, the octopus, stuffed eggplant, and duck shawarma. All were excellent! The dips were standouts for us. We had the whipped cod roe, ricotta, and walnut caviar. So yummy that I wanted to order a bunch to go for later! We found out about this place recently opening from a friend who mentioned it and we thought the menu/concept sounded interesting. I'm glad we tried it because our stomachs left very full but not too heavy and were still able to go out for some drinks after. The ambiance is nice even though it's next to the pool. The vibe is great and the service didn't disappoint. I honestly don't even know where to start with the food and drinks. We (group of 4) ordered nearly the entire menu haha. Out of all the dips, the whipped cod roe one was my favorite but if you don't like that brininess then it may not be for you. I also enjoyed the Turkish Manti but I would have liked it even more if it was a bit less doughy and had more filling. The stuffed eggplant and tuna dolmades were my favorite mezze items. The meat flatbread was really good. The summer fattoush was refreshing and well balanced. Out of all 3 skewers, my favorite was the octopus but I think most of the table preferred the wagyu beef. From the large dishes we only got the duck shawarma, which was really good but reminded me a little bit of carnitas vs. shawarma. We tried both desserts. I thought they were ok but I'm not a big dessert guy anyway. Everyone else said good things about them. I also really liked their schug and harissa. Both spicy but different flavors. The cocktails were also delicious. I had the dry gin martini one (forgot the name) and the vodka one (also forgot the name but I think it was the first one on the cocktail menu). Sooo good! The summer fattoush salad is basically a Greek salad. The feta was the creamiest I've had since Greece! The souvlaki was delicious, as was the hummus. My husband and I wished we were more hungry so we could try more items. The staff was very friendly and dining with a view if the pool was very pleasant. That was a couple Fridays ago. It took over 2 hours for our main entree to come out - if there is a prix fixe menu, why is there such a delay? Located at the back of the historic Hotel Figueroa in Downtown Los Angeles, Deme sits adjacent to the hotel pool and offers for indoor and al fresco dining. The decor is sumptuous, tasteful, comfortable and fashionable. All staff are uncommonly friendly and helpful and most attentive. But, most of all, the modern, creative Mediterranean/Greek cuisine is beyond awesome. Every dish was exquisitely flavorful, artful and pleasing. Little thoughtful and diner-friendly touches throughout the meal made the experience even more special. Our server, Gabriel, was especially so engaging, helpful, knowledgeable and charming. I booked a Valentines Dinner about a month ahead. I had gotten a message a week or o before Valentines Day saying they had a preset menu. Which was fine with me. We gwt there and get a menu of the food/courses we were to expect. Like 4 appetizers before the main course, which we were told was one course shared. 3 choices, lamb, fennel ( vegetarian) and ribeye ( ALL listed on the menu we were handed) We picked everything we wanted, chose ribeye as our main course. We were already into our 3rd ir 4th appetizer and the server decided to tell us no more ribeye. We'll we did not want vegetable for a main course, our only choice was lamb, which we ARE NOT fans of. We barely managed to eat less than half of the lamb, we were not impressed by ut at all. Completely had high hopes for this place,and was extremely DISAPPOINTED. How did they not plan ahead with enough food and run out at 830pm?? And have a preset menu and not plan accordingly? And we told server our disappointment, she didn't really care.
