ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE! manager is extremely unprofessional with an ego problem. made us wait 3+ hours in the freezing cold with zero communication or updates. did not care at all, zero empathy, was nasty when two people called for assistance. will absolutely be telling everyone i know to avoid giving them money by any means necessary. nasty people. read more

I would not recommend DeMauro towing to anyone!! Their service is awful. We requested a flatbed tow from them this past Wednesday morning and was told it would be a two hour wait to tow the car from Tenafly to New Milford. It took over FOUR PLUS HOURS despite numerous calls requesting an update. Each time another promise that they were on their way & would be there in twenty minutes. Just awful service& on my last desperate call to them they actually hung up in me. Save yourself the time and aggravation. read more

Really Bad , they charge you for services that they not supposed to charge for it and that you dont even know about it , I did pay $400 dollar total because my car was impounded, the car stayed less that 48 hours in their place and they charged for labor because they need to moved the car , just for that $75 and they didn't have the key and also charge me for winching another $75. The price is just ridiculous. read more

If the way they drive is an indicator of how they tow then shame on them. To pull out into rte 17 causing the cars in the right lane to slam on their breaks is asinine. When your name is on your truck have some decency and respect for your company. read more

not reliable. Came to my house to tow my car when they arrived they couldn't fit the truck in my driveway. spoke to a lady and she said that they will handle it by sending a small truck. I got home from work the car was still there. when I called I spoke to the guy on call and he told me they don't have a small truck. never called to tell me and left my car there all day. this was all through my insurance company. read more

They are the worst ever, my battery died and ask it to be towed to a Tesla charging station, they dropped it off at the regular charging station and was unwilling to help. So I had to find someone else to tow my car. Please save yourself the grief and don't deal with this company. Worst customer service ever read more

I was assigned DeMauro Towing through my insurance company when my car got a flat tire. I called when the truck didn't show up after the 75 minute estimate and the dispatcher told me that all of their trucks are busy and that it'll be another 60 minutes. Are you kidding me? Why would you accept a service request if your trucks aren't available for dispatch? The shop closed while I was waiting for the truck to show up. Not recommended for any roadside emergencies, unless you like waiting until the next day without a car. read more

Really not happy with their service. My cars battery died yesterday so I jumped it then drove to dinner, I left the car running, and the next day (today) the battery was dead again. So what does that tell you? I called AAA because it's an AAA 13 month old battery. The technician apologized and understood the battery is bad, and the dispatcher apologized and understood the battery is bad. I also happen to be a trained mechanic and know the battery is bad. In the end it was explained to me that 5.5 volts is a good battery according to AAA testing when in fact that is half what is needed to start a car. I paid for a battery with a warranty and expect that warranty to be honored. DeMauro is representing AAA and knowingly doing the wrong thing. This makes them grossly negligent considering all their employees know they are doing the wrong thing. Who would ever want to work in this kind of environment. read more

This company is extremely rude! When the tow arrived he was extremely upset for some reason as if doing his job was an issue. After being told to wait for the lug nuts(five minutes) so he can put on the new tire Louis claimed the company told him not to work on the car. I called the company and turns out Louis just refused to do any work, So unless you want a tow that will show up, complain, and leave without doing any work this is the company for you! read more

My pickup truck full of bicycles headed to NYC broke down on Palisades parkway , managed to get it onto route 9w where AAA can pick you up. Logged onto the AAA app and had DeMauro towing show up 20 mins later. Let me start off by saying that the guy that towed my car was very nice, and there is one guy that works in the office that was pretty helpful. That being said, the company itself is a bit sketchy and the woman who works in the office is very rude. The several times that I spoke to her were very unpleasant bc she talked down to me as if I was dumb and wasting her time. That is not how you treat a customer or ANYONE for that matter. When you are in a situation where you need to get your car towed you are usually upset, shaken up, or stressed out. That being said, it would be nice to work with a company that doesn't increase the stress of being in an accident or dealing w/ a dead car. In my experience, DeMauro Towing tried to be sneaky and charge me for things that weren't even necessary (for instance $45 clean up when there was nothing to be cleaned up). It seems to me like they are taking advantage of people who are in a very vulnerable position (i.e. stuck on the side of the road in need of help). OVERALL: If you are going to use this company to tow your car pay VERY close attention to anything they charge you for!!!! read more

Stay Away. Bad Business. DeMauro Towing does not keep their word. We contracted with them to move trailers for affiliated MLB seasonal summer camps in NYC metro area - 24ft enclosed trailers weighing ~7k lbs. Contracted for $10/loaded mile, steep in comparison to the 28 camps we book, but hey - it's NJ/NY! The final invoices were delivered to me as a picture of 8 greasy hand written carbon copy invoices laid out on a desk - from an @aol account... They wanted to charge $10 per mile loaded & unloaded! The rates were 4x what we had discussed after assessing all of the empty "commuting" miles! After demanding a $6k impound payment, they released the trailers. The invoice math was inaccurate, they overcharged by $1,563 and after months of unreturned calls, rude responses and a complete disregard of my emails or the money owed, I am forced to write this review. May you read this review before you call their number - I would shop elsewhere & suggest you heed my warning. read more

Let's be honest. When you need to get a car towed, you're not a happy camper. When the tow truck comes and you're a female, what you normally get is a gruff snort and total disdain. That's IF the guy behind the wheel will even look at you. What you then experience is watching chains flying around your car coming close to hitting a fender and seeing your car crudely jerked up onto a tow truck. A car had to be towed into a driveway so I called AAA ($50 because it's not an emergency which is fair). The 1st guy comes and yells at me through his window. I yell "I can't hear you" so he gives me an exasperated look, opens the window, tells me the driveway is no good and takes off. I'm standing next to his door. He almost ran me over. I call up AAA again and ask for a truck with a dolly. AAA sends De Mauro. De Mauro's driver gets out and explains that the driveway is too narrow and a dolly won't work. He offers to push the car into the beginning of the driveway but I tell him I can't do that. He then says he can do 1 of 2 things - leave or take the car, keep it overnight with no overnight charge and take it to the repair shop in the morning when I know which shop it goes to. The driver was polite, understanding and came up with a creative solution that worked. The people in the office actually listened to me and called me back too. From now on when I need a AAA tow in Bergen County or nearby, I will ask for and gladly wait for De Mauro Towing. read more

My car suddenly stopped working and after talking to the car dealership over the phone, they recommend the De Mauro guy boot up the car and if that didn't work, have it towed to the dealership. It seemed my car battery was on the fritz. The De Mauro guy tried to boot it up, nothing. Next step was to get it on the flatbed truck and tow it to the dealership. However, because my car is a hybrid, without power, it was stuck in "park." Basically it won't shift into neutral to make it tow-able. In a situation like this, the towing company would normally use a dolly (a special equipment that can get cars that are in "park" onto the tow truck safely) but because of the way my car was parked in the driveway, using a dolly wasn't an option. Because they can't shift my car into neutral and can't use the dolly, their suggestion was to drag my car onto the flatbed in PARK, which would damage the transmission and make my car problems infinitely worse! After an hour of trying to get my car into neutral and booting up the car battery several times the De Mauro guy finally gave up. Obviously, De Mauro doesn't want to get blamed for the transmission damage if they drag my car in park, so they threw in the towel and left. I called another towing company and the guy booted my car up in 2 seconds and got my car on the flatbed in less than 5 minutes!!! I couldn't believe it!!! After seeing the second towing company boot up my car, I realized the De Mauro guy had placed the charger clips in the wrong parts of the battery!! I'm SO GLAD I didn't allow the De Mauro guy to tow my car in park!! It was such a simple fix the entire time! I guess the De Mauro guy just wasn't familiar with newer, hybrid cars. He was super nice tho. Hence 3 stars. Maybe call De Mauro for simpler jobs with older non-hybrid cars. If they run out of options and suggest towing your car in park, call a different company before resorting to such drastic measures. read more

Horrible.(severely understated) If a negative star rating were available these people would comfortably be at the LOWEST end of the spectrum. Towed my car late in the evening last night, called this morning to verify rates and the dispatch who answered was abrupt and hung up before I could obtain more information. When I arrived there this afternoon, the dispatch ( same woman : just as rude in person) charged me a higher price claiming my car was there for " two calendar days". In addition to the overall displeasure and dissatisfied I felt from mere customer interaction, their main office (Yes, I know it's a towing buisiness) however, aesthetically could not appear more disheveled and unprofessional. NOW HERE COMES THE CHERRY ON TOP!! UPON RETRIEVAL OF MY VEHICLE I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT MY PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW WAS OPEN AND A LAYER OF SNOW AND ICE COATED MY WINDOW CONTROLS WHICH NOW DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, NEITHER DOES THE SPEAKER ON THE PASSENGER DOOR FUNCTION PROPERLY. It's as if they couldn't muster up even a morsel of simple common sense to either a.) : cover the open window Or b.) PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND CLOSE THE DAMN WINDOW!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL BE SEEKING RESTITUTION. THE FACT THAT I MUST CHOOSE A STAR RATING DIGUSTS ME!!!! read more

Edwin at DeMauro assisted us this week and he was wonderful. he has a great disposition and sense of humor. it was a painful situation the day before getting a tow truck to come get us and after an entire day of waiting we decided to leave it to the next morning. when I heard it was DeMauro coming I was so relieved. they are an institution in this area and always reliable and dependable. I wrote a letter to my insurance company about the terrible service (I use that term loosely) by the company that was sent to tow my car and also mentioned how awesome Edwin and DeMauro were. at least the terrible situation the day before ended on a high note the next morning. thank you Edwin and DeMauro for excellent service! read more

Got a flat tire and had to call AAA. DeMauro Towing called me right away and told me that someone would be there soon. Dominick was the driver who came. Instead of replacing the flat tire he checked to see why it went flat. He found 2 holes from a nail and a screw. He plugged the tire, inflated it and then checked the air pressure in all of the other tires. Dominick was extremely helpful. We were very happy with the service. read more

My car overheated in Oradell Monday 2/10/2020 around 3PM. Of course, it had to be raining. :-) I called AAA and was pleasantly surprised, the flatbed showed up within 30 minutes. The driver was Will and he could not have been any more helpful or respectful. We towed the car to a AAA approved garage in Waldwick. Will was very friendly and made the whole experience, STRESS FREE. Thank you Will! If someone from DeMauro reads this, please thank him and know, DeMauro is very fortunate to have an employee like that in this day and age. read more

TERRIBLE!!! I had my NEW car 1 week. A lady came flying down the street and almost took my door off, if I had stepped out I would have been very hurt or dead. So I was very shaken. I tell the Dumont police I have AAA. I go to hand my card-he says he already called. Demauro Towing comes. I tell HIM I have AAA. He insists on not taking the card, I have never had to use my card so assumed I would have to give it to him later. I tell him to bring my car to my mechanic in Bergenfield. Our mechanic would tow it to his auto body shop. He insists he should bring it to his yard or AAA won't pay. He said they will bring it anywhere we want in the morning. My mechanic contacts him in the morning. They refuse to let him take our car, THEY will tow it to the body shop. Long story short-they towed it-charged us way over what AAA would pay-charged us for quick dry (since when does fluid come out of a door-the driver did not clean up anything nor place quick dry) if there were some pieces of car to be cleaned-it wasn't my car it was the car that hit me. They charged me an immense amount of money for the tow-never took my AAA card-charged me for quick dry-clean up fee-shrink wrap, which was never applied AND overnite at their lot!! if he just towed it to my mechanic like I asked we wouldn't have this hefty bill!! He took advantage of an upset woman who had to get back to her children and saw her brand new car ruined! The owner would NOT get on the phone-I called Many many times and STILL has not sent me the detailed bill. My insurance refused to pay the whole thing, knowing they over charged us. What a scam. And the driver ACTED so concerned about me and my car. How awful. read more

My daughters car didn't start 2 times and DeMauro towing was quick and helpful. They are the Best!

Annoyed and frustrated. This company is one of the worst tow companies to have ever responded to roadside assistance with my car's dealership, Mercedes Benz. They were timely when responding to my leaderships request for the tow of my car Friday night, however they failed to bring my car to the dealership in the morning, like they promised they would the next morning at 9am, upon the dealerships opening, resulting in my car not being serviced during Saturday business hours and me being without a car for the entire Saturday and now Sunday, as tomorrow the dealership will be closed. I am out of a car until Monday, during this holiday weekend, absolutely disgusted with this company, DeMauro Towing. Great job with your loyalty and customer service.
