I was towed in and the wait time was minimal. The issues I was having with my car (overheating) were diagnosed and repaired in just a few days. My wiper motor also seized which in a BMW is a pain to fix. Kyle and the team at DTR did an excellent job at a fair price! First time ever being towed - so had super low expectations. I got a flat tire on a major highway - got on the phone with my insurance company and DTR was there to tow me away in less than 30 mins. They were kind enough to tow me to my destination. The cost was very reasonable (but again, I had no expectations prior) and they put on a new tire for me. My oil change was SO unnecessarily expensive. I asked for just an oil change, they did a full service on my car and then charged me for it without ever letting me know. The first time I went in, no one was wearing masks, then the second time only one person was wearing a mask. If you own a business you should really wear a mask when u have customers in the building. Prices are better than fair, and I trust Brian's opinions about any work that may or may not need doing. DTR IN CLOSTER NEW JERSEY LOST THEIR MORAL COMPASS My husband was in a bad motorcycle accident on Saturday. I understand the towing charge but storage fees? I called DTR Closter NJ the same day. The person at DTR Closter NJ said they were closed and I would have to pick it up on Monday. DTR Closter NJ said it was $40.00 a day to store the motorcycle. It is worth every penny for the hassle free service. The towing truck is absolute professional grade. If you care about your vehicle, you should use DTR. My friend had a motorcycle accident recently. She called her insurance company to verify that the towing was covered. After DTR put the bike on truck the driver says her insurance doesn't cover it. So she said take the bike off. The driver refused and ended up charging over 400 dollars for an illegal tow. DO NOT USE DTR TOWING IN CLOSTER, NEW JERSEY!!!!! read more

I have had DTR tow two of my vehicles a few times for various reasons, never had a problem with their services. I experienced professionalism and courtesy each time from what I can remember. On one specific occasion they provided a free jump start when i was stranded. Recently needed repair work on one of my cars. Prior to going to DTR, I went to a dealership service center and another local repair guy in a neighboring town. I was given the typical crazy quotes and unnecessary repair suggestions that would cost me a few thousand dollars. The people that I know in the town of Closter, NJ respect the establishment and through word of mouth I was recommended to give their automotive repair a try. I Met the owner, Pat and he gave me an honest assessment of what was needed and his mechanic took care of everything (including removing and plugging a tire from a nail i didn't know about and they didn't charge me for it). Summary: DTR is honest, reliable and competent. they have roots in the town of Closter and after living in the town for 6 years, I have finally found my automotive "go-to" guy. Had a headlight out. Based on my internet research, I deduced that the switch must have gone bad. Told the owner my theory, but he said it's probably just the bulb. Anyone who's had a headlight out with some of these newer cars knows that it can be a real hassle to get to, and my car is the absolute worst. The mechanic interrupted a brake job he was doing and worked like a machine in the rain for almost an hour to get to the bulb. His 31 years experience came across clearly as he was knowledgeable, methodical, and efficient, all the while answering my stupid questions and being really gracious. He got to the bulb and sure enough it was burnt out. Charged me a very-reasonable 25 bucks for the whole ordeal. I saw some negative reviews for their towing side, which is unfortunate, because I got the strong impression that they are capable and trustworthy. I'm feeling pretty grateful for the treatment I got. read more

I recently had my car towed by DTR and had to leave it there overnight. My car had just been picked up from a body shop a few days earlier and was in perfect condition. When I picked up the car the next day, my front bumper was ripped off, out of the fender and the grill was missing it's emblem. There were scrapes under the entire bumper that clearly indicated how the bumper was damaged, yet DTR told me that my car was taken there for safe keeping and was already damaged. After speaking to the owner who puts on a nice little show to make him seem like a nice genuine guy, I quickly realized that this would be an issue. He called me back eventually and told me that his tow guy did not damage the car. The owner of the business, Pat is a liar and not someone you want to deal with. Seeing as how my car was pretty badly damaged it was obvious that he wouldn't have wanted to pay for it but i thought that maybe he would be a decent person and take responsibility for something that was entirely his fault. I have pictures of everything and will update this post with them if needed but at the moment it doesn't seem necessary and would not help my dilemma. read more

$40 per day to store your car? More than Manhattan? who decides these charges. Township should look into this. I had my car impounded for 10 days. Paid $400 plus $110 for towing 2 miles. top it all DTR would not take my credit card. CASH OR DEBIT ONLY. while signs are posted for Credit cards. read more

This towing facility was used when i was stuck on the palisades parkway and was the nicest and did anything they could to accomodate me and my family. They went from calling us a taxi or bringing us to a local hotel. Awesome people to deal with and very affordable. read more

Reinforcing what the others posted - AVOID this place. First - forget about towing. My car broke down a block from DTR and they charged $150 to tow it into their lot - one block! The old adage about a good mechanic is "honest, good work, reasonable price". DTR fails on all three counts. They're very expensive - ok fine it's Closter. But they do not do good work. And if you challenge them on this, they get very nasty and will tell you it's your fault. They will lie to your face about the problems. After my last visit (I decided to give them another chance - shame on me), I ending up having to bring the car somewhere else to repair the repairs. That mechanic showed me the parts that were not replaced that I was charged for. Dirtballs - stay away! read more
