In any case, it was disconcerting. And the jus was much plainer than I'm used to, as well. I expected to see flecks of oregano and other spices; this version was darker and seemed to be lacking those. It may be unfair to compare this to my expectations. Maybe, if you're new to Italian beef, you might enjoy this. But if you're looking for a Buona / Mr. Beef / Portillo's experience, you won't find it here.
