Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The space is pretty narrow, but charming. The servers and chefs were incredibly personable and kind! They frequently checked on us and refilled our coffees. As for the food, it was your typical breakfast diner food with some Greek specialities. My favorite Sunday Diner to-go spot! They never let me down with the best French Toast Deluxe breakfast. Not to mention their Hot Pastrami and Texas Bacon Cheddar Jalapeño fries that I just started ordering recently. Even their staff is always so happy, warm, and welcoming! Recently, I was a bit bummed that the Buffalo Wings I ordered were not the saucy kind that I like. Matter of fact, not saucy at all just breaded. But! I woke up this morning feeling a bit under the weather, so after i realized that I needed to feed myself despite having no groceries and knowing i would not be grocery shopping today, I knew wanted a comforting meal. Immediately my mind went to wanting the classic breakfast spread of my childhood: pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I never order delivery anywhere because it's 1. always so expensive and 2. provides disappointing results (cold food, soggy food, etc). Despite this I knew I didn't have it in me to go get something in person so I decided today would be the day to take the delivery gamble. I walk by Delight Diner all the time so when i realized this was the type of food i wanted i quickly checked yelp and their site to see if I could order from them. My search confirmed it possible so I went ahead and placed my order. I ordered the pancakes with eggs and sausage, along with french fries (weird combo? but hey it's what sounded good). I also knew they sold donuts but it wasn't an option for to order for delivery online, so I ordered one of the pastries and left a note to see if i could have a donut instead. Now, before I continue, the order was relatively expensive, but to anyone who has ordered delivery knows this is always a given. (between the price markups in the delivery apps, plus the service fees, taxes, and delivery fee or tip, there's no way around this reality so this is not a fault of the restaurant at all, especially in today's economy). The food arrived approximately 30 minutes later, just as predicted. Upon unboxing I was pleased to feel the warmth of all the food radiating through the boxes. Everything was adequately warm and fresh. It was also a great surprise to find that per my request not only did they provide me a donut, they actually gave me two donuts and a free piece of cake! Great customer service. The food hit the spot and scratched the exact itch that i needed scratched. The pancakes were warm, thick, fluffy, and were a great portion size (3 large pancakes). The sausage was also great. 2 thick links sliced in half and griddled to crisp but juicy perfection. The french fries were still crispy, which is extremely rare when having fried food delivered. The cake appeared to be a Napoleon (mille feuille) style cake and it was incredible, along with the donuts. The food was exactly what I needed it to be - a comforting and fulfilling hug of nostalgia to nourish me on a day where I needed it most, taking me back to a simpler time in life. The customer service and extra goodies took the experience to a new level and made me feel even more cared for. Delight Diner will from now on without a doubt be my go to neighborhood diner when i'm looking for a meal that feels like it was cooked by family. I look forward to getting to try them in person in the future, and I also wouldn't hesitate to order delivery from them again (as rare as an occasion as that is for me). Often when I am working in Ridgewood, I skip breakfast. I stumbled upon this little diner while walking down Fresh pond Road. Ridgewood is a historical neighborhood that is home to many different nationalities. Each block is lined with different restaurants from Polish, Greek, Italian to Mexican. A literal melting pot of cuisine. Delight dishes out ol school diner grub. This is a no frills classic diner. I was ready for lunch and it was after 11. I decided on the falafel on pita, however, I was informed they were out of ingredients for the falafel. I then decided on the Cuban sandwich. Ham, mustard, Swiss cheese, lots of pickles on a toasted hero. The ham was good but I just didn't enjoy the sandwich. The bread didn't seem too fresh. Nothing special. I assume this used to be a donut shop many decades ago. It's advertised that there are donuts sold by the box. There were no donuts on display. Many patrons were filing in for coffee and Breakfast platters. I assume Breakfast is cheap and decent here. Local police offers stopped in for their coffee breaks. Delight Diner & Donuts is a utilitarian, blue color establishment adjacent to the Fresh Pond M train stop. Its purpose is to serve people quickly on their way to work or stopping for a quick nibble after a long commute home. The food at Triple D ranges from average to delightful. Breakfasts are always served fast, cheap and exactly to order. The "greasy spoon" dining reminds me of my youth when there was a short order cook joint on every corner of Brooklyn. You may notice the myriad photos of uniformed individuals wallpapering the north wall of the tiny diner. The MTA's Fresh Pond subway yard and the Fresh Pond Bus Depot are located directly behind the diner. Other major employers: the DOC Academy and DOT Collection facility are a short walk away. That explains why images of so many civil servants adorn the walls. At any given time, half the clientele is likely employed by one of these four agencies. I came here for the second or third time ever last night and had the grilled chicken panini with roasted red peppers and mozzarella. The panini consisted of pita bread grilled to a light crisp and the chicken was the most bland and flavorless slabs of chicken a person can ever come across while eating out. It was basically like gnawing on your own arm except the chicken was cooked. They could have at least seasoned it a bit. Also, whoever made my food thought that I would not notice (or care?) that they put undercooked green pepper instead of roasted red pepper in my panini. What a joke. My late guinea pigs, G-d rest their beautiful souls, could have instantly detected the difference if served up green pepper rather than their beloved red pepper. The mozzarella that accompanied this mess of an entree was, not surprisingly, the most generic and meh-inducing pile of bland white string cheese I'd experienced to date. For some reason, the panini arrived practically sitting in a small puddle of water?! This whole experience was very uninspired and a big deterrent from wanting to revisit this place again in the near (or distant) future. The waitress who served us was just as uninspired and blase as my panini was tonight. If I had to grade her effort, I'd give her a C. All in all, going forward, "Delight Diner" is more like "Forgettable Diner." Cannot heartily recommend - I'm sure you can and will find better restaurants and eateries within a 0.01 radius of this place. Took about 5 minutes before somebody walked over to help. The rep standing over in the donut area was on the phone, and the other waiters were in the back. Their pancakes are the best I've had in Ridgewood thus far, and they butter and grill the roll on their egg sandwich (which is to say, they make it correctly).
