    Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage

I woke up this morning feeling a bit under the weather, so after i realized that I needed to feed myself despite having no groceries and knowing i would not be grocery shopping today, I knew wanted a comforting meal. Immediately my mind went to wanting the classic breakfast spread of my childhood: pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I never order delivery anywhere because it's 1. always so expensive and 2. provides disappointing results (cold food, soggy food, etc). Despite this I knew I didn't have it in me to go get something in person so I decided today would be the day to take the delivery gamble. I walk by Delight Diner all the time so when i realized this was the type of food i wanted i quickly checked yelp and their site to see if I could order from them. My search confirmed it possible so I went ahead and placed my order. I ordered the pancakes with eggs and sausage, along with french fries (weird combo? but hey it's what sounded good). I also knew they sold donuts but it wasn't an option for to order for delivery online, so I ordered one of the pastries and left a note to see if i could have a donut instead. Now, before I continue, the order was relatively expensive, but to anyone who has ordered delivery knows this is always a given. (between the price markups in the delivery apps, plus the service fees, taxes, and delivery fee or tip, there's no way around this reality so this is not a fault of the restaurant at all, especially in today's economy). The food arrived approximately 30 minutes later, just as predicted. Upon unboxing I was pleased to feel the warmth of all the food radiating through the boxes. Everything was adequately warm and fresh. It was also a great surprise to find that per my request not only did they provide me a donut, they actually gave me two donuts and a free piece of cake! Great customer service. The food hit the spot and scratched the exact itch that i needed scratched. The pancakes were warm, thick, fluffy, and were a great portion size (3 large pancakes). The sausage was also great. 2 thick links sliced in half and griddled to crisp but juicy perfection. The french fries were still crispy, which is extremely rare when having fried food delivered. The cake appeared to be a Napoleon (mille feuille) style cake and it was incredible, along with the donuts. The food was exactly what I needed it to be - a comforting and fulfilling hug of nostalgia to nourish me on a day where I needed it most, taking me back to a simpler time in life. The customer service and extra goodies took the experience to a new level and made me feel even more cared for. Delight Diner will from now on without a doubt be my go to neighborhood diner when i'm looking for a meal that feels like it was cooked by family. I look forward to getting to try them in person in the future, and I also wouldn't hesitate to order delivery from them again (as rare as an occasion as that is for me). Please support this local diner! I hope your experience provides to you the same happiness that it provided me today :)

This is your quintessential NY diner that has all you need. Burgers, omelettes, steaks, burgers..they have it all & thankfully the prices are still reasonable. A neighborhood staple for over 35 yrs, excellent service & greeted warmly as soon as you walk in w a smile. Doesn't get any better...a must to try!

I love a good Diner and this is my favorite one in NYC as of today. The menu is huge and I can't wait to try everything. Went this morning and got a Chicken Parm Sandwich and my girlfriend got a Cuban, both were delicious. The Texas fries were so good. You need to try this place (especially if you're hungover)

Often when I am working in Ridgewood, I skip breakfast. I stumbled upon this little diner while walking down Fresh pond Road. Ridgewood is a historical neighborhood that is home to many different nationalities. Each block is lined with different restaurants from Polish, Greek, Italian to Mexican. A literal melting pot of cuisine. Delight dishes out ol school diner grub. This is a no frills classic diner. I was ready for lunch and it was after 11. I decided on the falafel on pita, however, I was informed they were out of ingredients for the falafel. I then decided on the Cuban sandwich. Ham, mustard, Swiss cheese, lots of pickles on a toasted hero. The ham was good but I just didn't enjoy the sandwich. The bread didn't seem too fresh. Nothing special. I assume this used to be a donut shop many decades ago. It's advertised that there are donuts sold by the box. There were no donuts on display. Many patrons were filing in for coffee and Breakfast platters. I assume Breakfast is cheap and decent here. Local police offers stopped in for their coffee breaks. All in all, I probably would go to elsewhere to dine for my dollar.

My little neighborhood diner. Nothing fancy here. Nothing spectacular. Just solid food at decent prices. I've been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and take-out. They have their regular menu, a light menu (smaller portions, not diet), and their daily specials, where you really get a bang for the buck! We're talking entrée, sides, and soup or dessert in generous portions for anywhere between $8-13! Food has ranged from decent to good to really good. They've been pretty consistent, so I always know what I'm getting.

Dinner has been here a while. Very friendly and good selection of various Greek and American fare.

This diner has been here for years. It's not fancy but they are friendly. Food is good. A mix of Greek and American fare. Owner very friendly. Staff was attentive. Just a good neighborhood place.

Okay, I finally triend the banana-walnut-sour cream omelette. It was sort of weird, but edible. Worth trying once, anyway. Still my favorite diner in the neighborhood.

Well done home fries and bacon. Bagel toasted to perfection.

The old-school ambiance gives it a real Brooklyn charm, and it feels like stepping back in time. Just remember to bring cash because it's cash only; but it's absolutely worth it.

They were young, energetic, and a hard working bunch, Eastern European sounding . They are fierce in their added charges at the register- the likes of which I have never seen in the coffee shop/ donut world. First & Last visit. Too mich of a culture clash. How I was treated here would not fly or last One minute in North Shore Nassau -.But here in Brooklyn this is a bustling coffee & donut shop with all seats taken and a line for take out. Donuts & coffee both good - Good. Experience a no go. They were pre- occupied with added fees. it's all they mentioned with each donut picked. It went like this - "A dozen doughnuts please" and I began pointing at quite regular looking donuts (all in the same rows) or so I thought. " thats a dollar extra" ( boston creme) hm ok " thats a dollar extra" ( coconut creme) hm ok " thats a dollar extra" ( boston creme stick) hm ok " thats a dollar extra" ( french cruller white icing hm ok " thats a dollar extra" (french cruller chocolate icing) hm ok " Two small coffees also please " HM are those the small?? I kid you not they were TINY kid sized The cup size I have never seen before. They must special order them for samples or something. Ok so "They are wayyy too tiny so - medium please" Out came the typical small sized cup - Hmm so ok. Let's ring and go I'm thinking. Next the woman is struggling with a paper by the register trying to figure out the coat of this dozen donuts (plus five with her added $1's) - then more struggle and I said " it's a dozen plus $5" thats $29.50". "Oh no you don't have a dozen". Apparently the extra $5 disqualified my "dozen". I know what you're thinking but No- no special donuts from some other case - no coffee rolls etc - i'm a NY'er and know a donut from a special roll etc. You need to buy five more for a dozen. "Oh? No, I have a dozen and am paying you five up charges as you stated." Next thing she is ringing the donuts individually Plus the extra $5 Which makes NO sense. But gets her another added $5 or so. Why would they keep quoting me add ons to my dozen if no dozen existed once you added a Boston creme etc. She raced to the manager. The Brooklynites thought ne a mean old lady for saying you're overcharging me'. The manager flew over - a young man huffy and emphatic that the five very ordinary donuts that were $5 more converted my dozen to a different price per donut. Then they said something funny to me - "would you like me to take those out and give you regular donuts?". No. (See update for more) " No those are the ones I want " but you just over charged me - I'll take them. But you are overcharging me. Thank you. Holy mackerel - just glad to be on the way out WITH the donuts of course- I was not furious or anything- and the donuts were never at risk- I'd not walk out on the donuts - My advice is to be more transparent in pricing and not deem very basic donuts special donuts - making your customers feel ripped off.- Better just to charge more for the dozen. And.. like other shops put any supposed special donuts in a special donut area - like coffee rolls, big fritters etc. That's how it's Typically done. This is New York! You can't pull that here. This is a place where people pay $6 for a good cookie. They are not cheap. Don't be weird at the register. And those cups Come on - are you KIDding me - pun intended. I left holding on to my wallet a lot tighter. And that is not NYstyle. I felt like some war was on and was ready to start stacking change. I'm also half Italian! So for me - This was one weird cheapskate experience. So that's my review. --------------------Update - Follow up to reply ------------------------------- Hi Demetrios, Thank you for replying. I generally stay positive on reviews. Like I said it was the aggressive way I was treated that was the no go for me. What I left out of the review was worse! For instance - your counter person began reaching to open the box saying she was taking out donuts to replace them with others. She grabbed the box and actually began getting ready to fling donuts around. It was totally weird. Had she actually not stopped trying to untie when asked I would have not taken them. It weirded me out. You say you keep the business the same since 1993? Well where is the Jelly Stick? A New Yok classic. So much for keeping it the same. Its on the sign over the counter and you don't make them any more .. so It is Not the same as it once was. Got ya! jk. And no.. no no.. I am Never mean or rude... just willing to say something. Ok so the coffee.. if its really $1 I get it.. its a nice gesture to your customers... they had something like that in Montauk.. a tiny beer for $1 at a place called Liar's Saloon. So ok.... right on you. Update /3

He was patient with me and my niece trying to decide which delicious doughnut we would want. I got the Iced Glazed Vanilla coffee and it was delicious. Hot chocolate for the kids were good, but since its "real" hot chocolate they thought it tasted weird. Only because its not processed and has real chocolate in it haha. We decided to get the tres Leche, strawberry, blackout, and red velvet. Strawberry one tasted like a Pocky stick, delicious! Tres Leche was a second fave amongst the kids, and then the blackout. Full of flavor and right amount of sweetness. The red velvet was the least favorite as it didn't give much red velvet flavor and was lacking something we couldn't put our finger on it. Overall really good doughnuts and can't wait to try others. The place is in a fancy looking lobby building and across the college. We went on the weekend so it was not as busy during that time.
