What a nice little gem. My bodacious breakfast experience started with a friendly greeting from the chaps manning the counter and they toasted a perfect bagel with all requested toppings. Rivals the best bagels in Queens (and Manhattan) I don't have time to visit the bagel place daily, sometimes I grab a dozen and spend my time slathering cream cheese (maybe some lox, if I've got some) at home, in my pajamas, before I start my work day. What I don't like about grabbing a bag of bagels is that most do not age well, and are rock-like, assault with a deadly weapon, on day two or three. And I'm just not into individually wrapping and freezing them, to defrost them when I want them. These bagels however are not those kind, these stay fresh and moist regardless of day one or day three which I can't say is the case with many others. A little crusty on the exterior, soft and chewy without being heavy on the inside. These are really great bagels that are also abundantly spice crusted. Bake a Bagel is a little out of the way for me to be honest, but whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to drop by for some of the borough's best. read more

So I come to this bagel store at least three times a week because I absolutely love their bagels. They always decorate for the different holidays which I find cool. Their menu has something for everyone (bagels,wraps, smoothies etc). The two guys in the morning I always see are Gus and Taso and they are the best! So friendly, plus they know my usual order so once I get there to pick it up it's done. I definitely recommend this bagel store over any bagel store in the area! I was out running errands and bake a bagel was nearby so I thought, why not give it a try? My partner and I ordered two turkey club sandwiches on bagels, mine whole wheat everything. The order was on time and ready to pick up pretty quickly! Overall I would say the sandwich tasted good but unfortunately the avocado on both bagels was brown (and there was hardly any of it anyway). Regardless I will say it was messy but tasty! Ultimately bake a bagel did not take the spot for my favorite bagel place in the area. Pretty disappointed in this place. I ordered the hungry man wrap and asked for tomatoes, lettuce, Swiss cheese, just basic stuff. None of it was included in the wrap, just the meat and disgusting American cheese, which I did not ask for... the meat was fine that was included (only reason it's getting a 2 and not a 1), but it's frustrating when you pay for certain ingredients and they aren't put into it and ingredients not asked for are included, clearly unable to follow directions. I asked for no avocado in the other wrap and ofc it was included but the other veggies I asked for weren't... I won't be ordering again if they can't follow simple instructions, which is a shame. read more

My favorite place for my bagel and cream cheese and coffee whenever I'm in the area. The service is the best ever. It's a magnet of the best in the neighborhood. The ambiance reminds me of my old neighborhood in the upper west side in the 80s when things we were so personable. This lovely family owned little treasure makes me feel that I'm back "home" to my Big Apple. I'm a happier "worm" and here to stay. The owners make the atmosphere so special that I am transformed out of this little hamlet called Maspeth every time I'm there. For a local bagel spot, yeah 5 stars. I stopped in before work, super early. They were already putting out bagels, doing their thing. They had a nice selection of bagels, lots of different flavors to choose from. I went with my go to. An everything bagel with some cream cheese. I thought about getting a hot sandwich, but it was early and I didn't want to bother them with the grill. The bagel was nice and fat. Crispy outside and soft inside. The everything toppings were extremely abundant. The cream cheese was a nice amount. Some places glob it on too much, others it's hardly there, here it was just about perfect. Really nice people and a very nice shop. I usually work overnights, so going here was a treat. If I'm doing another day shift, I'll absolutely stop in. read more

Since being in quarantine for 6 weeks I've been craving a fresh bagel but my local bakery hasn't been open. Decided to go ahead and order from uber eats and I don't regret it! I originally ordered an Egg Everything Bagel with Bacon and Egg ( I don't eat cheese on my eggs, I know blasphemy to most people) and in the special requests I put lightly toasted. Unfortunately they were out of the Egg Everything but they called and I substituted for just a plain Everything. While the bagel is smaller then some other places I have gone to, it was the perfect serving size for me to be able to finish and not feel super heavy after. They weren't cheap on the bacon either which I really appreciated! Alongside my bagel I also ordered a medium latte, it mad more milk then coffee in my opinion hence my 4/5 stars review. Overall everything was delicious and I will definitely go to the cafe in person when this is all over! read more

My wife and I stopped by for a few bagels on our way back out of the city. Bagels are so much better in NY/NJ and these ones are no exception. Small family environment made me feel at home. I loved the bagels were focused on classic flavors done and well. The bagels had a great texture, though the classic crisp on the exterior wasn't as pronounced as other NY/NJ bagel spots. I was super excited to hear of their grand opening and thought it was funny that they opened up across from the same Dunkin Donuts that never ceases to disappoint me. With that being said Bake a Bagel is a small cafe like bagel spot in a super convenient location. Bagels are soft and the insides remain that way after being toasted. They have an assortment of flavored cream cheeses and I believe recently started introducing breakfast sandwiches. What brings me to write this review is their coffee.
