Fireman bagel Chicken, hot sauce, lettuce, tomato cheese
    Meg A.

I've been coming here for years, and it's truly an amazing bagel spot. The bagels are always fresh, with plenty of spreads and specialty sandwiches to choose from. My absolute favorite is the Fireman sandwich, which I get almost every time. What really makes this place special, though, is the people. They treat you like family always kind, welcoming, and part of what makes this place such a staple in the community. If you have the time and want great food served by genuinely nice people, I highly recommend stopping by.

The service at this busy location was great. The breakfast sandwiches I ordered came out just right I don't have my photos of the food any longer because I thought I left a review for this place a while ago. Small cafe ambiance and very clean. Ps it smells like bagels and if you're from Long Island you know what I mean lol. I don't want to walk in a bagel spot and it smells like a deli

The steak egg and cheese on an everything bagel was excellent. With the Poland spring seltzer bottle, the total was $15.30. Friendly, local place with indoor and outdoor seating. I'd have the bagels again.

Our local bagel shop when we want a good bagel will a smear. Bagels are baked fresh. Prices have risen over the past 2 years though. A raisin bagel with cream cheese will set you back $3.25 while their sandwiches are close to $10.00 Very good quality and the owners are nice people.

Rivals the best bagels in Queens (and Manhattan) I don't have time to visit the bagel place daily, sometimes I grab a dozen and spend my time slathering cream cheese (maybe some lox, if I've got some) at home, in my pajamas, before I start my work day. What I don't like about grabbing a bag of bagels is that most do not age well, and are rock-like, assault with a deadly weapon, on day two or three. And I'm just not into individually wrapping and freezing them, to defrost them when I want them. These bagels however are not those kind, these stay fresh and moist regardless of day one or day three which I can't say is the case with many others. A little crusty on the exterior, soft and chewy without being heavy on the inside. These are really great bagels that are also abundantly spice crusted. Bake a Bagel is a little out of the way for me to be honest, but whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to drop by for some of the borough's best.

So I come to this bagel store at least three times a week because I absolutely love their bagels. They always decorate for the different holidays which I find cool. Their menu has something for everyone (bagels, wraps, smoothies etc). The two guys in the morning I always see are Gus and Taso and they are the best! So friendly, plus they know my usual order so once I get there to pick it up it's done. I definitely recommend this bagel store over any bagel store in the area! Best food, great people, great vibes!

I was out running errands and bake a bagel was nearby so I thought, why not give it a try? My partner and I ordered two turkey club sandwiches on bagels, mine whole wheat everything. The order was on time and ready to pick up pretty quickly! Overall I would say the sandwich tasted good but unfortunately the avocado on both bagels was brown (and there was hardly any of it anyway). Regardless I will say it was messy but tasty! Ultimately bake a bagel did not take the spot for my favorite bagel place in the area. Not sure if I would return but if I do I would probably try something different.

    Fatty raw bacon
    Jon L.

How does this place have 5 stars? I got a breakfast sandwich with bacon and the bacon was inedible as it was fatty and raw. I called them to explain the situation and the owner was adamant that the bacon was cooked fine and I just had a little piece of fat. You be the judge. Won't be going back here....ever.

Sourdough bagels, LOTS of creative options for bagels, cream cheeses and sandwiches. It's got a fun vibe and a nice selection of drinks too. Only real complaint is that the bagels are on display but aren't individually labeled by type so I had to guess or eventually ask someone to explain each one to me (which the music was a little loud to hear clearly and also thankfully it wasn't too busy when I was there but that would be hard to do if it was busy). The workers were nice explained when I asked and helped with additional weistions when I had-- which I had a lot because I felt like I walked into a bagel toy store! That may interesting options to try For the actual bagels-- I got 1) Egg everything with plain cc 2) Parmesan oregano bagel with buttah (their naming not mine) 3) Aleppo pepper bagel w/ Gochujang cc on the side 4) Blueberry bagel (plain) My favorite was the Parmesan oregano HANDS DOWN it was moist chewy and delicious. Definitely would go back just for that. I feel the others could be better esp the egg everything- it was oddly dry which is weird since I think they make bagels fresh. The Aleppo pepper was not bad but with the Gochujang cc it was too salty for my liking. Gochujang cc was interesting in general. Blueberry was good but also-- standard not bad can't go wrong. Overall my recommendation is try, and come back to try again-- until you've tried them all! I've heard jalapeño cheddar is great sadly I didn't try it-- next time Oh just to add-- there's no seating inside so be prepared to enjoy them elsewhere!

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE is the avocado bagel with an egg, which comes out with raddish, tomato, pickled onions, pumpkin seeds and a few more things. It is about $15, but every penny is so so worth it. When I want a quick b breakfast - I order a rosemary bagel with scallion creme cheese. I am not sure what kind of drugs they put in the dough, but I am hooked! Every bagels I have eaten from there in the last 8 months is consistent in quality. Just top notch! Everyone I met working there is also very pleasant. Once I walked in at 225pm, not knowing that their new closing time is 230pm and the staff still made me and my sister who came with me that day - two perfect bagels. They have a few benches outside, and I am always so eager to get to my food I just sit in front of the shop and munch on my bagels. There is also quite a selection of cold drinks to choose from. I personally like to pair the organic apple juice with my rosemary bagels. YUM YUM YUM!

Lots of seating area and a variety of food to order from Bagels, sandwiches, heroes and even breakfast along with desserts already prepped and made. I got an American Grinder Hero (Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham with American Cheese, Swiss, Lettuce, Tomatoes and Honey Mustard) yeah pretty loaded there, along with BBQ Chips, Sprite and Chocolate Pudding. I did enjoy my meal as a whole but I got to bring address something and thankfully I noticed before I went through with my order. No knock on Knickerbocker Bagel but inventory leaves something to be desired. Half of the chips you have were past their expiration dates and the first soda I picked was a few weeks old itself. Gotta do a better job on making sure your stuff is good to go and not stale and dated. That bit of nitpicking aside, when it comes to food preparation, it's pretty solid.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 8 This is one of the hottest sandwich shops in all of NYC over the past couple of years. You see them on social media and every list for the best sandwiches. Every time I stopped by, I see a line, which hopefully means that they have developed a loyal following. I have now visited a handful of times, hence I feel confident enough to properly evaluate the restaurant. Here are my thoughts on some of their sandwiches. Dill Party (7.5/10) - This is one pf their most popular sandwiches and never leaves the menu. It's not my favorite, but it's a super solid choice. The dill flavor simply permeates through each bite of turkey and avocado. If I don't see my favorites on the menu, I wouldn't hesitate to order this sandwich. Fancy Bologna (7/10) - I love mortadella, but this sandwich does not hit high marks for me. I think it's the pepper spread that slightly distracts my taste buds from experiencing the delicate flavors. Chicky (8.5/10) - Rare hot sandwich on the menu. Everything works. I love the juicy ground chicken patty paired with creamy feta and smoked paprika mayo on a sesame seed bun. Charred onion and arugula are perfect additions too. Dr. Broccolini (8/10) - I added Spanish anchovies to this sandwich, which took it from good to fantastic. Never thought I would enjoy a mostly vegetarian sandwich, but this is one of my favorites here for its textural and flavor contrast. Fillet-y of Fishy (9.5/10) - One of the best things I ate in 2024. They need to have this sandwich more often. I have been dreaming about this nearly perfect fish sandwich for over 1.5 years now. Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie (8/10) - Very good finish to the meal. Not overly sweet, with just enough touch of salt. Relatively crispy with a slightly gooey center. Pistachio Chocolate Cake (8.5/10) - Had this at the Queen's Together International Expo at the end of 2024. Couldn't get enough of this deliciously moist cake. Wish they make this product regularly. Rhubarb Custard Cake (7/10) - Not bad, but nothing special. The cake was moist and the custard was light and creamy, but the rhubarb didn't have any impact. Yuzu Meringue Pie (8.5/10) - What a great graham cracker crust. For a meringue lover, it's like a key lime pie on steroids. Slightly sweet for me, but a wonderful slice of pie overall. As you can see, I appreciate most of the sandwiches and desserts that Salty Lunch Lady offers. However, I have to admit that the prices are slightly high for a relatively small sized sandwich. I guess it's the norm nowadays with all these fancy sandwich shops popping up in different parts of NYC. Besides, I'm part of the statistics after all.
