Off season, walked right in but once seated waited about 15+ minutes until a server noticed us. Once she did notice us, she was kind and attentive. Everyone but one person at the table was disappointed with their food. Keep in mind this is advertised as an Irish Pub. Bangers and Mash were instant potatoes, packet gravy that was congealing and mediocre sausage. Cheesesteak had a strange, almost sweet taste. Fries were bland. Pastrami sandwich was dry. Water tasted clean, which for some beach restaurants, can't say the same. Windows were full of terrifying, creepy doll figures for Halloween. Terrified my kids and they didn't even want to go in. Standard Irish Bar. With right weather, it's nice to enjoy lunch outside. Guinness poured perfectly. It's a bar so order something that fits with that. One thing. When you get a sandwich or burger you get a tiny bag of WISE Potato Chips. They are basically greasy potato flakes. A disaster from start to finish! My friend called in advance and the hostess said "we're very busy". We walked down there and it was practically empty. I ordered the pear martini... It was disgusting. I had to ask for more simple syrup twice and I'm not wanting to ask for more sugar. A specialty cocktail should be just at that. As far as the food is concerned let's just say if you're looking for a lobster roll go to the ugly mug. The lobster roll in this establishment was so fucking disgusting I couldn't even eat it. That's it As far as the service is concerned the bartender spent most of the time chitchatting with other people and if we needed anything we had to call his attention. This is not the level of service I expect. I realize it's the off-season but for fucks sake it's Cape May they really isn't an off-season... I should have read the reviews before coming in! Our service was prompt but all the food was just blah. There were 5 of us and we got the clam chowder, wings, chicken salad and fruit, kids chicken fingers, side ceasar, Rueben egg rolls, burger, pretzel bites and calamari. The pretzel bites were good and my mother n law said the clam chowder was good but everything else was mediocre at best. I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here for food. read more

September 24 2025 My friend suggested Delaneys as her family enjoys coming here. I hadn't been to Delaney's although I've been in this shopping district many times. The menu is extremely extensive! My friend said they had everything you could possibly desire and she was right. I chose a plain burger it was really delicious and cooked as I requested it, medium but more of a medium well- it was ok by me. The roll was fresh. The service was very attentive. Our server was present throughout the meal. Inside the restaurant it's very dark and the booths aren't padded. Overall I thought that the prices were on the high side but that is to be expected in this touristy shopping district. Cape May is so delightful! I think if you are hungry and in the area give this place a try but be prepared for sticker shock. Non alcoholic fountain drinks are the highest I've ever seen at 4.99! I always love a good Irish pub. We'd been down in Cape May for a three day weekend and were so over eating. Night one was Union Park, day 2 was at the Ebbit Room, so for our last night we went to Delaney's Irish pub. Started with a Guinness with a proper pour. We shared buffalo wings and burgers. Wings were nice and plumb, a bit too much sauce for my taste .the burgers and fries hit the spot. They're a thicker cut fry and I asked for them crispy and they were delicious. A cold beer after a long hot walk. Great friendly service in a nice old fashioned pub. Bartender Kevin was excellent. A very nice guy with a great smile. The crab sandwich I had was excellent, nothing but large lumps of crab and delicious. It even was served with a bag of Wise potato chips which I haven't seen in years. Very reasonable kids menu as the Mac n Cheese was under $6 and came with a juice. Food is good. I tried the steamers ($14.99) which was a nice portion and pretty good. Jersey scallops (fried) were well seasoned and tender. Prime Burger was thick, juicy, and flavorful. It came with potato chips- not fries House salad with grilled chicken was fresh and crisp and chicken was tender and juicy. Even the baked potatoes were good. The server missed several small requests (no ice vs ice, no onions on sandwich), but was okay overall. There were only 3 of us, but we couldn't get separate checks.
