Turkey Pot Pie
Michael T.

This is a great place to dine, some more casual restaurant that the area needs more of. It's a casual bar restaurant that you can come in to unwind and play pool. The food overall is pretty decent too! I've been here a few times so far and I've liked most of what I ate. To get it out of the way, there are two duds: the Nashville Chicken and the Truffle Potato Wedges. The Nashville Chicken is cooked well but was boring and lacked any flavor (did they forget the sauce when I tried it?). The truffle potato wedges are a little more interesting but it was such a small portion that it's almost pointless to get it. Fortunately, the rest of the food is much better. The dinner menu is a stronger showing. We loved the French Onion Soup, the turkey pot pie, the kielbasa sandwich, and the blueberry cobbler all knock it out of the park. They're all cooked perfectly, portioned well, and have strong flavors. I can wholly recommend all those dishes. I can definitely recommend coming here for dinner. It's a very well run restaurant with good food.

Beers on tap

Not very customer oriented. Came in on a Thursday for dinner. Was promptly seated and ordered a couple of local IPAs, The Cape May and the Slack Time. Both were very good. Got another round and the Slack Time was a different beer altogether. Hazy, fruity, IPA, not my cup of tea. Asked the waitress if I got the wrong beer and she implied she brought the right two to the table, but must have given each of us the wrong one. I let my son try it, who also said it was not the same beer. Asked her if it's possible they poured the wrong beer. She went back to the bar and returned with an explanation that the first beer I got was at the end of the keg, that's why they taste different. Since when does the end of the keg taste better???? Never. I gave her back the wrong beer and asked for another Cape May. Ended up paying for both. Had the seafood platter for dinner. The fish was actually very good. Asked for ketchup and salt for the fries. Never got the salt and after about 20 minutes she came back with the ketchup stating 'Had to wait for one to return from a table.' First placer I've been to that rations ketchup. Furthermore, the table next to us was cleared at about the same time we got our food. They had a bottle of ketchup that I couldn't get my hands on fast enough. My son had the burger. Said the meat was good, but the bun was stale. All-in-all, a bit disappointing for our last night on vacation in Cape May.

The staff are solid- and keep things moving but this place is busy all the time so expect a bit of a wait especially on game days/nights. The drinks are well made and not stingy with the sprits. I especially enjoy their pizza and martinis.

The beer selection is always impressive, with plenty of options to satisfy just about every taste. Service can be hit or miss depending on when you visit and who's working, but that's often the case at busy shore destinations. My family stops here on almost every trip to our home on the Cape May Bay, so we've experienced it at its best and busiest. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a popular shore restaurant. And yes, if you know about the bathroom situation, you know--it really deserves a permanent fix rather than another temporary patch. The menu offers something for everyone. The pizzas are consistently good, the bar food delivers exactly what you'd expect, and there are several signature dishes that are always reliable and full of flavor. When the restaurant gets crowded, you'll definitely notice it in both the service and the overall vibe, but that's just part of the shore experience. Overall, I'd recommend giving it a try. Go in with realistic expectations during peak times, and chances are you'll have a great meal. We almost always do, and I think you will too.

So we went early (no problem being seated around 5:30 or so, but it did seem full an hour later) and were we ever rewarded. Everything was simply perfect, including Vicki, our veteran and down to earth waiter. When we are unsure of things, she provided expert guidance with kindness and wisdom. The mussels appetizer are an experience not to be missed - save the bread for lapping up its saucy juice. My wife loved the pork chop - its huge and she took half home for lunch. I devoured the blackened fish of the day over bok choy. Both simply were outstanding. If/when again in Cape May again, we'd certainly come back. With a reservation!

The bartender catered to the locals and had her little chitchat going. Do you restaurant owners not realize that there are people coming in and out of town at all times and on various days and we may work in service industries and maybe even the restaurants/hospitality industry I ordered whatever the burger is with the Gorgonzola cheese and it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Between the burger the bun the tomato and the onion was hard to get your mouth around but it wasn't really worth it to stretch your mouth that far. You had a choice of fries or salad and I chose the fries. In all honesty I've been in Cape May for a week now and have eaten out nearly every day and had some outstanding fries and I would swear these were yesterday's fries if not yesterday's fries from somebody else's plate. I asked the bartender if these were the normal presentation of the fries she said "oh yes they're hand cut fries" my question would be hand cut when and fried when? They were overdone and mushy. . And after exchange the bartender adopted a pissy attitude. Here's my thing to the managers/owners of this establishment: I have worked in various forms in hospitality and customer service. I'm also an older person, consumer, frequent visitor of restaurants and bars. Take this however you will. It's a Tuesday afternoon... The servers and the service and the food should be exactly the fucking same as it is on Friday and Saturday night. Feel free to contact me if I said anything out of line. PS I'm an interim innkeeper in Cape May and I will definitely be steering people away from your restaurant even though I've had decent experiences in the past. There's too much competition out there for too few dollars. Smarten up

We had some time to kill while waiting for our table so we went through the dining room to check out the decorations. We loved that the whole room was lit using black lights and enjoyed the small animatronics. After checking out the decorations, we still had quite a while to go before our table was ready. I think it might've been 45 minutes after our set reservation time? Aside from that, the rest of the night went without a hitch. For dinner, we got chicken francese and flounder francese. Both were really delicious and cooked perfectly. There was a generous serving of both the main dish as well as the pasta and other sides. I also ordered an Apple Pie martini and loved it. The rim was coated in sugar instead of salt which I thought was neat. It really did taste like apple cider. When asking for the dessert menu, we were pleasantly surprised when our server came out with a plate of desserts. She explained what each one was and I liked being able to see exactly what we were getting. They could use a little more variety in the dessert department though, I don't recall seeing or hearing anything other than cakes. We did end up ultimately choosing the white and dark chocolate cake which was the perfect amount of sweet. We were very pleased with our dinner and the Halloween experience. The Haunted Dining experience was fun, but I honestly wouldn't say it's a "must do". I'll definitely be back when they open for the next season, they seem to have some interesting other decor that I couldn't see well under the black lighting. The food is definitely enough of a draw to return as well.

My boyfriend and I took our dog here on a Sunday night. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The hostess was very nice and pleasant. We ordered hot wings for an app. They came out quickly and were delicious! For our meals, we had the steamed clams, fish and chips, and a Margherita pizza. Everything was phenomenal. Huge portions and cooked perfectly. I did have to ask twice for a water bowl for my dog, but this isn't necessarily a place that caters to canines, so it really wasn't a big deal. They had outdoor entertainment as well. A solo cover artist with a track full of top 40 hits. He was quite entertaining. My dog hates going anywhere, so she'd probably give it zero stars. It is on a busy road, so there's basically traffic going by the entire time. She didn't like that, nor the loud music.

The atmosphere is classic dive bar--casual and laid-back--but the place could definitely use a thorough cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. We recently tried to eat here over the Fourth of July holiday. In hindsight, we knew it was a long shot, but we were hoping for the best. The quoted 75-minute wait wasn't surprising, so we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. Between the holiday crowds and people lingering to watch the beautiful sunset, getting a table was nearly impossible. The biggest frustration isn't the wait itself--it's that there are no reservations and no system to encourage table turnover. We watched several tables sit with empty plates while guests stayed to enjoy the sunset, even as others waited to eat. We came for dinner, not to watch the sunset...again. Yes, it's a dive bar, so some of these quirks come with the territory. Still, many of the issues are fixable. A reservation or waitlist management system, better table turnover during peak hours, and some general upkeep would go a long way toward creating a more enjoyable experience for everyone. We've visited when it's nearly empty and when it's packed, and these same issues seem to exist regardless of the crowd. With a few improvements, this could be a much more consistently enjoyable place for families and visitors alike.

My wife and I used to work at an iconic eatery in phila called Taylor's country store and both of us looked at each other and said we get the same vibes. The decorations were just what you'd hope for in an eclectic little restaurant. Located on the edge of the villas maybe 15 mins from wildwood and cape May if you're visiting down the beach or shore don't sleep on this place. Now for the food we were looking for lunch we have our go to spots but wanted to change it up and I'm so glad my wife chose TBD. Has a great menu with something for everyone. I got a hot roast beef because it's one of my favorites. Side of fries hand cut. First the sandwich was everything I had hoped for I go a couple Roast beef sand places but this has shot to the top. Gravy on the side is how it came and it was just what the sand was meant for ciabatta roll soaked it up perfectly, no prob I'm not a fan of the disintegrating gravy sand I like to control the gravy. Roast beef was thick but not out of control thick, didn't need sharks teeth to bite through it. And not any gristle which definitely mattersHorseradish on the side a little bite not your make your nose run hot but hot enough. Hand cut fries delicious crispy hot and a perfect pairing to dip in the gravy. The pickle was exactly how you want a deli pickle to be crunchy fresh and sharp flavored w real dill I will say it again perfect . My wife had the burger it was huge tasty I know because I had half the right amount of everything. She chose the fresh homemade chips they were marvelous too I know because I grudgingly gave up a few fries to have some chips. It was big enough she said she would be skipping dinner. Anyway it's the kind of place you leave saying I can't wait to go back and try the other choices because you know they will all be made with culinary care and taste great.
