This is the second time in the past two weeks where I've watched food preparers make food orders with their masks around their neck and the servers laughing and talking over the food. There were three employees not wearing the mask correctly and one not wearing a mask at all and I believe she was a shift manager. Lived here in Tehachapi my whole life and since Del Taco has opened, the service has been terribly slow, food has been lacking meat, and even came with a side of attitude with our order. In addition to that, inside the establishment it has always been dirty with the tables, floors, and bathrooms. I would not recommend anyone to eat here. read more

I don't have very high expectations when going to Fast Food. But this Del Taco is the WORST! It took close to 30 minutes to get our food after ordering. The tacos and fries were cold. They were severely understaffed. One girl was working the register for both the inside and the drive thru. Only 2 other people were making the food at a snail's pace, and we went during the lunch hour. As we walked out to leave after eating, it was then that we noticed the health inspector rating was a "C". I am hoping this sick feeling I have in my stomach right now is just all in my head. This is a clean, well-run Del in the middle of nowhere. The staff is always happy and eager and the portions are always healthy. The prices are not raised, as some Del franchise owners in remote areas will do. No breakfast all day, but I consider that a bonus anyways. As with most Dels, they almost always get the order right, and the one time they didn't make something I custom ordered correctly, they just made it again the right way. 5/5 stars, but 4/5 milds! Once again Del Taco continues to disappoint. At the "begging" of my grandkids and against my better judgement, I gave the Tehachapi Del Taco another try. I pulled into the drive thru line and waited, and waited, and waited for the line to move, trapped by the vehicle behind me. I eventually got to the order speaker and it was out of order. Aaarrrhhggg. They did nothing to warn you about this or close the lane. After 15 minutes in line I finally reached the "pay" window, where they would take your order, have you pay, then drive to the parking lot and wait another 15 minutes for your food. I realize this is Del Taco and a certain level of grossness is to be expected. However, this particular store is beyond gross. Starting with the lady at the cash register. This isn't an isolated incident, but it'll be the last for us. After she excepted payment she grabs your drink cup with her fingers inside the drink cup. This is so disgusting. Usually when Deb and I go to Bakersfield early we stop here for a quick breakfast. They are great in that they make our burritos the way we like, without the tortilla. I get a couple egg and cheese and Deb gets a steak and egg. They have never had an issue making them this way and just put them on a plate or in a bowl. We have had lunch here also and everything is good for a fast food Mexican place. So if you're driving on Hwy 58 through Tehachapi and want a quick bite to eat this is a good place to come. You have to come about a mile off the Hwy but its worth it for a quick bite. read more

It's a nice Del taco. But it's very slow for a fast food establishment. Slow. Painfully slow. Sadly my life is very fast paced. I don't live in Tehachapi and maybe things just run slower in Tehachapi. Del Taco is a fast food establishment "fast" should be part of the deal. Most of the food is cooked and all you need to do is slap it together. Sooooo the orders shouldn't take forever to complete. All things considered it's a nice Del taco. They just need to speed it up a bit. OH and remember to make the real strawberry lemonade because that is not a self serve beverage. Wait time is absolutely intolerable, every time, no matter what day of the week, or what time of day, whether inside the store or in the drive-thru. I've watched two employees screw around doing nothing (other than avoiding eye contact with me) at 10:00 on a weeknight, before I finally walked out. The drive-thru is no better. It says open 24 hours, I go in at midnight (doors are unlocked) and they tell me they're closed. Night shift is awful and the night shift food is awful. Came here on a Sunday evening and ordered food with my family. While waiting my 3 daughters needed to use the restroom and once we were in the restroom I locked the door which was a vacant and non vacant lock. I locked the door since there were 4 of us in there and only two stalls. My 5 year old was in one stall and my 10 year old was in the other stall while my 4 year old and myself waited to use it. All the sudden we all hear some lady banging on the door and yelling in an extremely violent tone housekeeping!!!! I stated that the restroom was in use and the worker who was yelling said no you need to open this door now!!! It's osha law that your not allowed to lock it!! My kids were already scared I opened the door and she pushed me in front of my daughter. my youngest daughter and myself hadn't been able to use the restroom yet and the lady still screaming in my face telling my that I'm in violation of osha for locking the door because if there was a fire as she was screaming she was spitting in my face. I simply stated there's no need to talk to me that way especially with my three children right here.she continued to yell and without finishing here sentence she pushed my 10 yr old daughter into the sink and yelled at my 10 yr old daughter saying YOUR DONE!! So she could get into the stall. This del taco workers name was Tanya Barnes. She didn't wash her hands and went back to work anyway. Once my children and myself walked out she continued yelling at me in front everybody I just kept telling her don't talk to me that way I have children right here and there's no need to act that way for no reason. During all this my husband was sitting waiting for the food and he said when she went back there to the restroom and was banging on it and yelling everyone could hear and was looking around like what is going on. We ended up asking for a refund and they gave it to us and said we could still have our food but we said no. We were disgusted after seeing her not wash her hands and she was the one making the food. If it is said law to not lock the door they should not have a lock on the bathroom doors then and they are in violation of that. Also it is not the law you can lock the door all the customers felt so bad for us and said they were so sorry for us that she was so wrong for doing that. One customer even came out while we were leaving to see if we were okay and if the kids were okay she hoped they weren't traumatized by her actions. This was the worst service I've ever had if I could I would give negative stars. We went here on a week night pretty dead. I ordered a bunch of stuff. The cashier was very kind and let me in on a special deal for the night and saved me some money. Haters gonna hate. That's what's happening here. We are a busy family, so sometimes we have to grab food on the way home from stuff (baseball, basketball, baseball, other stuff, baseball), you know how it is. Well, one day (apprx a couple of weeks ago), I stopped by the Del on the way home (from baseball) and picked up a family meal. My non-Mexican husband and less Mexican offspring cannot handle the spices, so we go green sauce on the burritos. Well, this place made our complete order wrong. You guessed it, they went red instead of green. Instead of just giving me the wrong order, they let me know about their mistake. They (manager named: Fifi) owned up to it. I wasn't in a huge hurry, so I was fine with waiting for the correct order. Not only did they make it right, they gave me the wrong order AND gave me a grip (accurate mathematical term for 4+) of free churros. It was awesome. I came home with double the burritos and sweet sweet churro goodness. Thank you Fifi. Thank you for not screwing me in the drive-thru and thanks for the extra grub. read more
