I'm not a big chicken fan but their chicken nachos are some of the best I've ever had. The chicken is fantastic and I'd get it there anytime. I haven't had anything there I didn't like. So far everything has been great. They are always very nice and take call in orders. I do wish they were open later than 6 and more days. Bean Me Up Xpresso is an anomaly in the landscape of Tehachapi, CA. I was looking for a breakfast something and looked up locations after picking up a box of apples at Pulfords Apple Orchard. BMUX stood out as our destination because they offered breakfast burritos and Mexican coffee. As an added surprise we learned that they were also a taco shop. They were closing at 4 pm and it was 3:45 our time, so we called and the nice person allowed us to place our order and it would be ready by the time we arrived. We ordered the ultimate burrito and the Mexican coffee and it was ready by the time we arrived. We took our food to a local park and we sipped on our Mexican coffee that warmed our bodies with a mesmerizing flavor of coffee and Mexican chocolate. The burritos were a generous size and we started our journey to the center of the burrito. The green salsa was a bit weak, it needed a bit of spice and flavor. Not much was added to the burrito experience but the burrito held its own and then some as it beamed us up to a state of happiness. The burrito/Mexican combo was a memorable satisfying experience that enticed us enough to come back and try their tacos. We ordered 3 asada and two carnitas, they were a bit small but the flavor of the meat was rich with flavor and quite full filling. They provided us with the same green salsa that again was uneventful and unexciting. The only reason BMUX doesn't get 5 stars is the fact that a place like this should have at least one or two salsas that should be out of this world. The food was mediocre at best. Yes, the meat had a somewhat good flavor but the amount of meat in the tacos was ridiculous. It's like having tortillas with a dash of meat was not greeted when pulled up to the window so bad service. The horchata didn't taste regular it tasted like it was made with some other type of milk. Plus the lids on the cups did not fit so it spilled on the car ride home. The salsa was a complete joke. Not spicy at all. Very disappointed but what do you expect? Can't get authentic Mexican street tacos here in the city of Tehachapi. I 100% prefer making the drive to either Bakersfield or Lancaster and get street tacos from a food truck. Fabulous, excellent and the quality of food served is always fantastic! The street tacos are amazing, fresh and so plentiful. The bean and cheese burrito is the best! I've come here twice and the only thing I've ordered has so far been the burritos and the burritos are absolutely delicious. The service is courteous and friendly. It is drive up or walk up. There is no indoor or outdoor seating so it's a small food business but the food is really good. The burritos have been excellent and I am definitely going back for more. read more

Food and coffee...5 stars. Service...1 star. It was raining the day we stopped by. Since this is a drive up shack with no overhang, its reasonable to expect rolling the window down means your car and sleeve gets a little wet interacting with the employee. In our case it meant I got soaked. Our interaction with the young lady working started with her greeting us by opening the window, frowning, and saying, "Hi." We tried asking some questions, but she spoke so quietly I had to keep asking her to speak up. ...which resulted in her simply repeating herself at the same volume, and leaving me wondering what she said. We eventually gave up and just ordered 4 tacos and 2 coffees. As I rolled up my window after the inordinately long and unsatisfying exchange, I looked at the water pooled on my floor board, running down the door, and dripping from my sleeve. Super irritating. As we sat waiting for our order, a car pulled to the window on the other side. To our surprise, after a few minutes, she handed them a bag and 3 drinks, then off they drove. We were still waiting for our order. After a couple more minutes, she slid her window open, frowned, and placed our order on the window sill. I rolled my window down and reached way across the gap to the window sill, where she handed me the order, then wordlessly slid her window shut as I pulled my dripping arm and shoulder...and bag/coffee cups into the car. The rain was obviously a bummer. But, it really felt like she enjoyed watching me get soaked. ...couldn't even reach her arm out from her window, or crack a small smile. Again, super irritating. Once we had a our food and drinks, we had to admit they were terrific. The tacos rocked and the coffee was totally solid. Unfortunately, the employee is reason enough for us to skip this place in the future. Which is a shame, because the food and coffee are worth revisit. read more

This is my favorite authentic taco place in the area. I have tried all the other drive-up Mexican places, and this one wins first place. The carne asada tacos are SO GOOD! I highly recommend them. I also tried the Horchata which could have been a meal all on its own, so delicious. The staff are always so friendly, which I greatly appreciate. I felt they deserved a chance to redeem themselves after my previous experience, and I had made a promise to return. Let's address the negatives first. The girl at the window seems ill-suited for customer service. Her attitude has actually worsened since my last visit. She mumbles, rolls her eyes, and provides subpar service, making me feel like I'm committing a sin by patronizing your establishment. If that's the atmosphere you're aiming for, then congratulations, you're succeeding! So, be prepared for a less-than-pleasant experience before you even get to your meal. I'm genuinely surprised she's still employed here. Reading other Yelp reviews, it's clear that many others have experienced the same poor treatment. Why is she still working here? When I spend my hard-earned money, I expect to be treated with respect, not looked down upon. As for the food, I must say it has improved since my last visit. The asada was quite good--thin, tender, and enjoyable. I didn't dare try the chicken again. Overall, due to the service provided, I won't be returning for months. It's disheartening to not be able to support a small business with employees of this caliber. My first impression was surprise about location and that it's a drive up coffee and taco place. Surprise replaced with immense satisfaction and great customer service. Pauola (I'm sure I have spelled her name wrong) who is owner was exemplary, service with a smile. Like all new places I visit I like to ask a lot of questions. Usually my questions are just to get a feel for the place. She was gracious and polite answering all my questions. Food wise it was excellent I very much enjoyed every bite. I ordered street tacos 1carnitas 1asada 2 al pastor tacos with every thing, green salsa and a blended Mocha 1shot espresso. Awesome I like d it so much my husband finished our food and went back through the drive-through to order the same thing again for later. I definitely recommend this place I don't even live anywhere close to it but I will go for taco Tuesday. read more

A small shack selling food and drinks. This is probably the second best taco place in Tehachapi, but there's only two. We ordered the asada and al pastor tacos. The asada is very dry and not recommended. The al pastor is a little dry, but has a pleasant taste when doused with their sauce, which is half way decent. What makes them a two is that they often run out of al pastor. Today, four cars waited in line for thirty to forty-five minutes only to be told that the kiosk ran out of al pastor when we pulled up to the window. This is unacceptable and the only reason I'm not giving this kiosk taco stand a 1 is because it's better than Taco Bell, Del Taco, and Green Burrito. Sorry, but get the meat situation in order. Also, stop wasting your customer's time and start posting signs when you run out of a particular item, especially one as popular as the al pastor.... read more

My first time going here yesterday and they only have green Chile sauce for tacos, tacos are $1.50 each and sooooo good. We got chicken and carne. We got a side of rice too and it was $3.50 and it was horrible, it tasted a bit old and it was a mix of long grain rice and white rice, it wasn't good Spanish rice. I'm not sure who makes the rice there but they need somebody else. Must ask how much everything is because the prices are blacked out? read more
