I have been wanting to visit the Tehachapi Apple Festival for quite some time now and I finally got a chance to make it out here. So first things first, when I hear of "Apple Festival" my automatic thoughts are... Apple pies, apple fritters, apple empanada, apple strudel, apple crisps, apple dumpling, apple cobbler.... you get the point. Anyway, walking up I see a big giant green apple and automatically I was super excited. There are tons of vendors at the Apple Festival and there's something for everyone. They have tons of food stands and little stands that are selling so many different products, from stickers, to garden decoration, to even tupperwares. My favorite apple item purchased at the festival has to definitely be the apple pie funnel cake!!!!! I can't believe that the carnival or any place that sells funnel cakes don't serve this regularly! It's the best funnel cake I have ever eaten!!!! Once we started walking up and down the street to see all the vendors, I was a bit disappointed with the amount of vendors that actually had "apple" type stands. I think this is a fairly new festival so maybe as the years continue to celebrate this festival then there will be more apple items and from previous reviews I kinda feel like there's a bit of inconsistency with what I've experienced, so I think I'm going to give the Apple Festival another go next year and hope for the best. Looking forward to next year to see this festival expand.

Apple Pie Funnel Cake was DELICIOUS!!

The Tehachapi Apple Festival was not everything I hoped it would be. I thought there would be lots of booths selling apple related items, but that was not to be. Although there were at least several dozen vendors, only a handful sold anything apple related. There was even just only one vendor selling apple pies!! That vendor sold out of apple pies before we could purchase any, and we were there before 1pm! Yes, I was quite disappointed in the limited apple choices. There were 3 vendors there who made my day. Moessner Orchards had a booth selling baked goods. I bought some tasty apple pastries from them. Another vendor had some delicious fresh picked apples. The entrepreneur selling the Apple Pie Funnel Cake was what really made my day. That was the best Funnel Cake I've ever eaten!! In conclusion. the Tehachapi Apple Festival was not all I thought it would be. Was it a complete waste of time? No, it was not. I would still return for future Apple Festivals. Got a feeling it is going to get better every year.

Morning visit to the Apple Festival! :)

Seems to improve each year. Excellent vendors. Well organized. Local businesses benefit from the crowds this event draws.

I didn't know what to expect since I am not a big fair or festival person. My son has been in the parade for the last 5 years. That is usually it for me, last year I did the festival too. I realized that I wasn't missing anything all these years. It was just a bunch of vendors selling things I can find in stores. I didn't see many homemade items. The only booth that had some cool things was the one selling chimes . Other than that there was nothing I couldn't live without. Food ....meh, nothing I needed to have. I saw a lot of people drinking. Maybe that's why people are enjoying themselves , for me it would be the food. Nothing good in that department, so I think I will continue staying home during Mountain Fest.

Everything used to be home made or crafty and it's all way too commercialized now. Luckily the Chinese food still comes :) I remember going to this as a kid up to a young adult and remembering all the people that would be here and buying cool things but, not anymore. Not as many people come and it's not the same feel as it used to be. The city has commercialized it too much which is very unfortunate.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with unhurried charm, service with a smile, and a feeling that we were more family than guests. The Rankin family and staff are truly exceptional. Sarah, Clint, Shelby, Emma, Chris, Ms. Glenda, and Mr. Bill are world-class hosts who made our stay far exceed every expectation. We were celebrating our anniversary, and on our very first night they surprised us with a delicious cake, making us feel incredibly special and cared for. The horseback riding was wonderful, taking us through beautiful meadows and across the valley. One of my favorite experiences was visiting Sarah's farm, where we met goats, a donkey, chickens, mini horses, farm cats, and even a baby calf that I had the chance to bottle-feed! We loved the swimming pool, they have archery, a fire pit, pool table, or if you want to just be quiet and read a book that is amazing too. The Fresh air was wonderful and we were able to nap and just enjoy reconnecting. Evenings were filled with fun, family-centered activities. We loved learning square dancing on our first night, and the second evening featured a unique Rankin Ranch game that had everyone laughing and connecting. Sunday was especially memorable. The day began with a delicious waffle breakfast, followed by horseback riding and a hayride to a gorgeous meadow for lunch. The Rankin Ranch beef burgers were outstanding--honestly one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The afternoon horseshow tournament was the perfect ending to a wonderful day. What makes Rankin Ranch so special is that it's truly an unplugged experience. There are no TVs and no Wi-Fi, but what you gain is far more valuable: peace, relaxation, meaningful conversations, and the chance to reconnect with the people around you. As a bonus, the ranch offers subscription boxes featuring their incredible beef, as well as quarter, half, and whole cattle available for shipment. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming about our next visit. Thank you, Rankin Ranch, for being such a class act and for creating an experience we'll never forget. We can't wait to come back. I

DO NOT recommend a visit even if your patience is high and your expectations are low. If you go:…read morerequest a bed without exposed mattress springs; know BBQ dinner portions are mini & insufficient BBQ sauce for everyone; the fishing lake is a gunky algae divot; your trail ride may just walk in a square around the barn; prepare for extremely ill-mannered children that are allowed to stay; & accept staff apologies but receive no satisfaction. Out on the farm, we had the best tractor ride and learned some fun facts about fruits, as well as slid on the huge slide and played some outdoor games. While we were here, we ate some oakie pies. My favorite is thanksgiving dinner. It tastes just like November-- Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and gravy. They have other tasty savory pies like the chicken pot pie, blueberry pulled pork, and the breakfast pie. Of course, you could get some sweet ones too! If you decided to pick fruit you pay by the pound at the end which is reasonable but the fee per person just to walk around seemed on the high end. They have goats, chickens, peacocks, a variety of birds, chickens and roosters and cool art displays. We saw signs for paintballing and hayrides though I didn't see any wagons operating. The main reason we stopped was to try the Okie Pies. I had never heard of them and I am always looking to try new things. They remind me of a large empanada or handheld meat pie. We tried 3 savory and 1 dessert Okie Pie. They were out of blueberry so we settled for Apple and it was good but super sweet. I love desserts and unless you're a diehard apple pie fan you may find this to be too sweet. Savory flavors were salsa verde, chicken pot pie, and blueberry BBQ pork. The blueberry BBQ sounds odd but it was everyone's favorite. Everyone was very friendly and there was even someone who let the kids pet the goats and roosters. We'll stop on the way back home for more blueberry BBQ Okie Pies.
