Carne Asada Steak taco, Crispy Chicken Taco, Ground beef chrispy taco. $8+ 2024
Alex D.

Stopped by on a Wednesday at 1.30 in the afternoon. There were a few people inside. My order of 1 crispy chicken, 1 carne asada on a crispy shell, and 1 ground beef on a crispy shell tacos was taken momentarily and arrived a few minutes later. I like the taste of soft wheat and crispy corn tortillas better than what they have at Taco Bell. The crispy shell is thinner and creates more of a delicate bite texture. The ground beef is similar but I feel like is a finer grain. Crispy chicken is my favorite. There are people who controversially claim there's no need for Taco Bell if you have a Del Taco nearby. Personally, I like having options to choose from. But I admit that my preference would be Del Taco.

03/17/24 extremely dirty inside and walked out.

This DT was nasty the moment I walked in. I went straight for the men's restroom and wanted to wash up. First the urinal is missing and the pee stains are imbedded in the ground. The toilet is extremely nasty and dirty and this place should be ashamed of itself. I vote this as the nastiest bathroom I've seen ever. 03/17/24: I was waiting in line and looked around at the lobby and the cushions were torn on the booths. The behind the counter I could see had food on the floor. The woman wiping the tables didn't appear to be happy at all. The soda machine says out of order.

This big corporate wanna be Mexican food restaurant serves the best and cheapest in SoCal. They have the $2 menu items that can't be beat especially when you don't want to drop a lot of money on a quick meal. In my opinion their food is way better than the competitor Taco Bell and their hot sauces are also top notch.

I've been a regular at this Del Taco location, but the service has gone downhill. Missing items have become a constant issue--today, Fredy forgot the fries that came with my combo, and last time, it was a taco. I shouldn't have to double-check my bag every visit just to make sure I get what I paid for. The food is decent, and the staff is generally friendly, but the lack of attention to detail is unacceptable. As a longtime customer, I expect better. Serving up sloppy service to loyal customers isn't a good look--this needs to be fixed.

The beans are so bland. I've tried this location a few times, but it always seems to disappoint. I've been going to Taco Bell instead.

When I turned the corner into the street next to the restaurant I easily found street parking, just keep an eye on the street signs so you park during appropriate times. We were seated outside which was perfect weather and it was great the tables could be pushed together to accommodate as many people as would arrive (our group fit in 4 tables pushed together). To start, the bean dip and salsa! That bean dip is so delicious and spicy! If you told me they were sold out and all I could eat is chips and bean dip I would have been a happy girl and just sat there eating the bean dip! Yummm! For the main course I went with the Steak Tostada Salad and it did not disappoint! The tostada was fluffy and crunchy, and the inside was filled to the brim and had nice thick pieces of steak on top! I did not feel an ounce of guilt as I gobbled down the whole thing and I even splashed some of that bean dip onto the top for good measure! In looking around at everyone's plates everyone's food looked amazing with very very generous portions. The waiters were very attentive to our group coming around frequently keeping our waters full and refilling cocktails for anyone who had ordered one. I definitely recommend Los Amigos Bar & Grill for a very delicious and authentic experience!

The parking appears to be full since the lot is on the smaller size, but luckily you can park on the street a bit further down if you don't mind the short walk. When we walked in, we were simply told to sit where we wanted. Inside, the service was efficient but lacked any warmth. Our waiter got our food out quickly and seemed friendly enough with the regulars, but he was a bit indifferent to us. As for the meal, I found the steak picado tasty enough and seasoned well, but my wife found the chicken fajitas to be incredibly plain and lacking flavor. She only ate about 1/3 of her plate because of it. Unfortunately, between the tight parking, the distant service, and the hit-or-miss food, this is just not a place we plan to return to anytime soon.

Employees were super friendly and we were excited that they were showing the telemundo World Cup coverage. The menu was great. We split the carnitas plate and got Long Island iced tea. If we were still hungry, we already had planned on ordering à la carte tacos, but the plate was perfect. We were pleased. The menu was great, food was good, drink was good, and we had a nice time! Food was beyond sub par you can make the food at home and would taste better! Save your money. Everything we had from two orders of "taquitos", "esquite", quesadillas and a blood orange mojito. The only thing with a bit of flavor was the esquite, but again to pay for roasted corn on the cob with just mayo and cheese? For $13 ? NEVER AGAIN. I have a problem with the way they name their items which is a bit misleading. For example, they have an item called taquitos, meaning you would expect a rolled fried taquitos. What came was tacos dorados so why is it named taquitos? They DID write on the menu that it's fried tacos..but again why are they not just calling it TACOS DORADOS? Same with esquite typically esquites are corn off the cob but this was on the COBB and yes it was described on the menu as on the Cobb but again why not call it ELOTE instead of esquite. Clearly this is semantics but just frustrating. If you want authentic Mexican food there is a Don Cuco's around the block that is WAY better than this place. They are at a different tier than this Kalavera's location. If you're a drinker perhaps that would make the food taste better...so disappointed and a waste of money!

I was offered a food menu but I had already achieved my goal for the visit which was the margarita, and soon after that, water to go with the chips and salsa. They have a grab tortilla station, where you can see the chefs making fresh flour and corn, which was so cool, and made the experience more authentic. The drinks were also really delicious. I got the mango margarita with a tajin rim that was so delicious. I could keep drinking those all night! For food, I got the beef fajitas. My boyfriend got the steak encebollado, and our friend and her boyfriend got a chicken taco dish, and a chicken with onions dish. Overall, the food was excellent, my only complaint would be that they put a very few and small pieces of steak and veggies ob my fajitas dish. I was just expecting a much bigger amount for the price point. Other than that, our server was attentive and friendly, and we had a fantastic time!

Ever since then, she been hooked and believes this place has the best chilaquiles. I had to try different things here since we come here a lot. So I got their breakfast burrito, burger, wings, breakfast entree and just recently got the classic burrito. I came over the weekend with my friends since one of them never been here. I arrived early but the parking lot was already filed up so I parked across the street and just walked here. I was lucky to come before the breakfast rush so I got a table inside. We waited about 45 minutes for a table, which honestly wasn't a problem at all. They're located in a plaza with parking, and there's also plenty of street parking nearby. First, let's talk about the Café de Olla. We ordered two, and WOW. It's their signature coffee, brewed with cinnamon, raw Mexican brown sugar, and spices. We normally drink our coffee black, but this was easily one of the best coffees I've ever had. Seriously, do not skip the coffee here! For breakfast, we ordered two dishes and shared everything. We had the Breakfast Skillet, loaded with country potatoes, eggs, bell peppers, mozzarella, fresh avocado, and ranchero sauce. We also ordered the Chilaquiles à la Bandera -- crispy tortilla chips with half tossed in their green salsa and the other half in red salsa, topped with mozzarella, Mexican cream, Cotija cheese, and eggs. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. And because we needed something sweet, we added the Crunchy French Toast Sticks, drizzled with caramel and Lechera. SO GOOD and the perfect sweet addition to our breakfast. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves! The service deserves its own mention. Our server, Liliana, was an absolute doll! She was so sweet, attentive, and genuinely helpful. She helped us decide what to order based on her own favorites and recommendations, and everything she suggested was spot on. Our Café de Olla came out within probably a minute of ordering, and once we placed our food order, I don't think we waited more than five minutes. Considering how packed the restaurant was, we were seriously impressed. Liliana definitely made our first visit even better! Everything was perfect -- the food, the coffee, and especially the service. Definitely recommend Mex Cocina Cafe for breakfast or brunch. We will 100% be back. In fact, we already can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The place is situated right next to the equestrian center for Griffith park, and has a fun ranch vibe, from the look of the area to the outside of the restaurant, and you really get the vibe once you step inside. This place looks like the old west in the best way, complete with wagon wheels for the light fixtures and a killer bar area. It's really something you have to see yourself. So it's safe to say my wife and I were awed with the vibe of the place. I will say we were pretty hungry when we came in, and did hope they were going to drop some chips and salsa on the table, like most Mexican sit down spots do. However, that was not to be. The chips and salsa are extra. That was our only disappointment of the afternoon, as it was otherwise a fantastic experience. We tried the cochinita pibil, a shrimp taco, and the fajitas. They were all excellent, but man I'm still dreaming about the cochinita pibil. What full flavor, with a terrific sauce...both the plates came with cilantro rice, tortillas, and black beans, which made for an excellent combo. We will be coming back - hopefully for their taco Tuesday when my family comes to town next month!
