    13. Taco & Enchilada Combo Plate

Great first time at Don Cuco! Attended with a group of co-workers for dinner and it was the perfect spot for a casual meal. We came on Monday during peak dinner time and were seated immediately despite it being busy. We ordered the Mexican Pizza for the table and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was! It would definitely recommend it - it was my favorite thing we ordered. It's basically a loaded open faced quesadilla topped with beans, chorizo, olives, guacamole, and sour cream. Super tasty and easy to cut apart to share! For my entree I ordered a Taco & Enchilada combo plate which also came with beans, rice, and soup. It was a ton of food but I would say appropriate for the ~$22 price tag. Only negative was the service which was slow to take our orders, bring drinks and check in throughout the night.

The look, the color, the lighting of this place is straight out of a 90's Quentin Tarantino movie... and I was here for it! I believe this is the original Don Cuco's location, built in 1969! This location offers a small outdoor patio, bar area dining, and small dining room in the back. We sat in the back and immediately got served chips and salsa, yes! I ordered Chile relleno and cheese enchilada combo, which came with rice and beans. This was a huge plate of food and I liked everything, but it was a little bland. The plate was missing some flavor. Not in spice, but lack of salt and maybe some cumin? My kids really enjoyed their rice and beans and my wife did like her sopes, but also said they were lacking in flavor. I really enjoyed their salsas that came with the chips and their guacamole was on point. The service here was stellar and we were constantly checked on and drinks refilled. If I lived in the area, I'd probably be at the bar here a couple times a month.

The quality has gone down over the years. The only thing that has remained consistent is their salsa and alcoholic drinks. My mother is a huge fan so I have no choice but to come here for family celebrations. I used to love the chicken fajitas. Idk if the quality went down or the ingredients changed, but they didn't have much flavor this time. Also, I could be wrong, but it no longer appears as though they're using white meat. My husband ordered the Colorado Burrito. It was ok. The one I make is significantly better. I don't think we'd order either of those dishes again. The only winner was the deep fried ice cream. Parking in the area is free. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, it may be a challenge to find parking. But you're bound to find something.

First time at this location. We had a large party and they were able to accommodate. Chips and salsa at the table with no extra charge. The tacos and other dishes were tasty and delicious. The restaurant is a little dark but over all is cool. The staff was friendly and willing to assist from the hostess to the servers. We will be back. So yummy.

Food 4/5 This is classic "California Mexican" - it's not street food. But it's really good. I get the fajitas and they are fresh and plentiful. The soups are usually really good too! Service 5/5 staff is attentive, kind, and fast. Food came out really fast last time we were there! Ambiance 5/5 super fun! Dark on the inside with a mess style. It has character and a vibe. Private booths. I I've this place. Conclusion I've probably been going to this location for 30 years now on and off. It's a Burbank/Toluca Lake staple. Close to Warner Bros and the towers so back in the day this was a prime spot for industry lunches and lunch meetings. Great place for a simple date or a fun lunch. Bonus, if you live near by walk there and get some steps in :)

I finally had a chance to check out Don Cuco. I was staying at the hotel next door and they recommended this place, especially their fajitas and margaritas. I opted for a chicken burrito with black beans and it was ginormous and delicious! My coworkers and I also savored a few of their strawberry margaritas. Service was very friendly, fast, and attentive. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

Spicy salsa I ask was delicious & Cadillac margarita was strong so before careful if your light weight like me .

Spicy salsa that I ask was delicious, but Cadillac margarita was a little too strong if you're light weight me . Cheese enchiladas was yummy. Service was excellent & ambiance was cozy.

I have worked near to this place and always wanted to try it but never got the chance. Now that I was in the area prior to a movie I said fuck it let me check it out finally. So I dont know what the parking situation is here but it pretty much non existent unless theres something in the rear. I got luck and snagged some street parking in the front. Upon entering the decor is old school mexican american vibes. Vibrant colors and subtle lighting. Intimate booths perfect for date nights. However the place as a whole a very small. Its hard to pass through the one aisle due to limited space. Our server was very nice and fast. They took our order and food came out promptly. Chips and Salsa - The salsa has a good flavor and is a little on the spicier side. Good and on par with other spots. Carne Asada + Enchilada - The New York strip was ehhh. The seasoning was missing. The cook on it was aight. I was not impressed by the steak at all. I ordered whole beans but got black beans? Oh well. And the rice waqs a bit over cooked but I really liked the flavor and I dont mind overcooked spanish rice. Michelada - I order mine with Bohemia. Decent. Needs more of a kick in my opinion either lime or spice whichever direction you want to take it in. Don Cuco is a nice and subtle mexican restaurant with your basic mexican food fare. Nothing to really brag about but nothing bad at all.

Friendly fast service, upbeat festive staff. Had the vegetarian Burrito since I am Vegan they replace cheese with avocado, super tasty! My roommate had a bean, cheese, and rice burrito they were very accommodating and pleasent! Definitely worth a visit id you craving Mexican food in a cozy and enjoyable setting.

The food was... fine. Not bad, but not memorable either. Tacos were a little bland, salsa lacked a kick, and the rice tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. As for the cucumber margarita--basically just a regular margarita with a few cucumbers floating in it. If you're starving and nearby, it'll do. But if you're craving really good Mexican food, keep looking. Had a birthday dinner here and they brought out the big olé energy! Got to wear a traditional Mexican sombrero while the staff sang their hearts out. It was cheesy in the best way and honestly made the night extra fun. If you don't mind a little attention, it's a festive touch. if you're planning for a larger group, maybe think twice. We had a party of 9 and were packed in pretty tight. It didn't feel very comfortable or spacious, which took away from the overall experience. Great for small groups, not ideal for anything bigger.

We've been here twice, I want to highlight the best parts of both nights. The customer service was absolutely AMAZING! They were very serviceable and always checking up on us. The food came out quickly and hot. However, the flavors were a bit lacking. The first time we got the macho burrito and the tacos dorados plate. The burrito portion was big, enough to share between two people. The burrito kind of tasted like a chimichanga and didn't have a strong flavor that stood out. The tacos dorados were flautas, so you can't really mess those up. We decided to come again for a birthday and ordered a parillada for two. This was a huge disappointment the meat portion was so small! We got 5 strips of steak, 5 strips of chicken and 4 shrimp. It didn't feel like a lot of meat for the price we were paying and unfortunately there also wasn't a strong flavor profile. The ambience of this restaurant is amazing & private enough for a date. But as someone who enjoys flavorful food this wasn't it for me. Others have really enjoyed this place, so don't knock it before you try it.

Super friendly and attentive staff! The food was phenomenal and the quality of service is what was the icing on the cake! I got the chili Reno, my son got the burrito and my daughter got the fajitas . I also added a Tecate Michilada that was delicious too. Parking was a headache, but overall everything else was great .

We had a great brunch one Sunday at Don Cuco's. We haven't been here in years. Great place for an intimate lunch or dinner. We decided to have a relaxing day at Don Cuco's after a round of golf. Everyone that visits a Mexican restaurant knows it's all about the salsa. They have the most delicious and addicting salsa. I wanted to eat everything with it. It's super light and refreshing. I made sure we had tons of salsa so when our entrees came out, I can eat everything with it! LOL We started with the Guacamole. Our entrees came with a choice of soup or salad. With my Shrimp Yucatan, I chose the Albondigas soup and with his Plato de Carnitas, he had a salad. The Albondigas soup was heavenly, just like my mother-in-law's! Just a savory meatball sitting in it's juices. It couldn't have gotten any better. Mainly meat and not much filler - you can tell by the texture. I love how lightly seasoned the meatball was. The Shrimp Yucatan came with a side of beans, rice and garlic bread. The Plato de Carnitas came with a side of beans, rice and corn tortillas. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the shells came out of them effortlessly. They are perfectly drenched in butter and garlic. Delicious! The side of beans were my favorite. They were not refried beans! So happy for that! They were stewed to perfection and tasted great with the rice. His Plato de Carnitas were moist, tender and juicy. He was in love with the Carnitas. The juices will seep into your tortillas making each bite rich and delicious. We had the best server, Alfredo, and he was a lot of fun. He was such a pleasure to meet. We hope we see him again next time because he was a lot of fun and was so attentive. With that being said, he offered a couple of great Happy Hour drinks. I had the Patron Skinny Margarita and he had a Pink Cadillac Margarita. The vibe is so romantic so we made it a point to hit Don Cuco's for our special date nights! We really can't wait until we visit again. Next time we'll get the Queso Fundido. It is melted cheese, which typically has chorizo, mushrooms, or poblano peppers. It also takes about 15 minutes to make and is usually served in a sizzling hot plate. We made the mistake of not ordering and ordered the Guacamole instead. That will be our next visit, for sure!

I got the Sweet Temptation French toast. This was delicious. The Dulce de Lèche was rich, but balanced out with the acidity from the strawberries. The French toast was exactly as you would imagine, cooked well and had a nice flavor. The French toast came with a side of eggs, meat, and potatoes. I chose over medium eggs, bacon, and hash browns. My eggs were cooked right, the bacon was crispy without being brittle, and the hash browns were perfect. Definitely worth it! My friends got the Very Berry French toast and the Chilaquiles Divorciados. They both said theirs were delicious as well. The ambience of the restaurant is clean and nice. There's seating indoors and outdoors, we chose to eat inside. The waiter checked on us a few times to make sure we were still doing okay, and we never felt rushed. Overall, I would definitely recommend Cafe De Olla. I'll be back to try their other menu items (:

I don't know who Celia is but maybe get more staff in the kitchen and a hostess and more waitress/waiters. We went in Saturday Valentines night dinner right before 6pm and found parking to be easy and should have taken that as a sign but figured we get better service. NOPE! The parking not is just really small and the people sitting had ordered and committed to staying I guess. Keep reading and you'll get my drift! Honestly, We assumed it would be a great night romantic dinner. Then, we walked in and felt so neglected. No hostess to greet or seat you. The bus man or waiter said wait here and cleaned a table when 3 were available. It looks like the three employees were doing everything and at the same time doing nothing! It was comical at first. He sat us finally and then we ordered. Appetizers and a Molcajete and two nonalcoholic drinks. By now 32mins passed. No chips & salsa. No nothing... we should have just left. But we were lazy to leave elsewhere with no reservations on Valentine day. He brought me a drink from the bar like if I ordered it, I hate to say he might have memory issues. Then he noticed we still don't have our drinks and he had to ask again what I ordered. Now 50mins passed and at another 15 mins the main course came before the appetizers were served so I cancelled it. It just seems like they didn't care for anyone else but the people at the bar. Ppl were just walking in and ended up leaving or seating themselves. Majority left and they didn't even notice! Not welcoming at all and as for the food. I feel like everything was previously frozen as the chicken and meat was very chewy-leather like. The cheese was cold. And just grateful that we didn't get sick because it wasn't cooked all the way. When I go into a restaurant, I expect good service and quality food. I unfortunately won't be returning. Such a shame because this place has western character straight out of a saloon and can't speak for the drinks as we didn't even eat our entire meal and wanted to get the hell out. Do better because this could be a cute hangout spot!

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it
