Mozzarella pizza with balsamic drizzle
Andrea M.

What an authentic place to get great pizza. Really small - not a lot of space to sit. But service is quick and pizza is delicious. I had heard about this place from colleagues and reviews. It didn't disappoint.

Plain pizza

We ordered two pies! The pizzas were perfect! The crust was doughy and firm! It is a combination of NY style pizza and Napoli, Italy! It is so good! The crust is soft doughy! 2nd time here and they never disappoint! Pizza was ready in 10 minutes! The place has 6 person table, and two bootj

The pizza that I ordered.

I have to admit that I was inspired to come here by the Dave Portnoy review, and it was definitely worth the drive. I ordered a fresh mozzarella pizza. The crust was crispy and left flour on my hands, as good crust should. The sauce was smooth perfection. The cheese slid right off of the pizza, but was delicious. The service was good, I received the pizza at a normal time. My only problem with the ambience was the size of the restaurant and the amount of seating. Overall, Defazio's Pizzeria was amazing, and I'm giving it 5 stars.

Crisp made to order large wood fired pizza pie

I am unfamiliar with the Troy area, however I will travel when I'm told by many what a gem this establishment is. It is family owned and generational. My only mistake in my haste was not calling in or going online to place my order in advance. No matter, as I am happy to wait for delicious wood fire pizza made to order any day of the week. On this visit, I stopped in their local neighborhood just to try a large regular pie as well as a Fra Diavlo pie. Well, needless to say I was loving their cheese pie which was so simplistic yet made with wholesome ingredients and homemade sauce. Their Fra Diavlo had homemade Italian sausage, hot chopped peppers, cheese and sauce and was wow! I look forward to trying their pesto pie and eggplant Florentine pizza on my next drive over. In this instance, I really wish I had a second stomach hmm hmm.... This cozy yet quaint pizzeria has so much to offer. They have pizza and pasta and many other house made items. I can't wait to try more!

I came here for a lunch meeting. My client raved to me about the pizza here. Now honestly I hate rave reviews because then I expect something that maybe is just not the same thing someone else would expect. This place is definitely a Dive. It's a little hole in the wall place that appears to be family owned and operated in not a great part of town. The girls at the counter were cute and you can smell the wood fired pizza oven from outside. It's awful inside, unclean and unkept. The one person bathroom (closet conversion) didn't have a working light. You have to use the bathroom and find the soap and wash your hands in the pitch black. The pizza was decent, though it lacked seasoning. I was particularly impressed by the fresh sliced mushrooms. Most pizza places serve you water logged grossness from a can. Honestly guys lets have some respect for yourselves and your customers and renovate. I know a guy

12" Cheese Pizza So delicious!

On my way back from snowboarding I always try to make a pit stop to grab some grub and so I had to pull up to DeFazio's Pizza! Let me tell you.. Their Pizza is so delicious. Seriously.. I'm from NYC and I know good Pizza and I'm telling you this Pizza is off the hook! I ordered the 12" which was perfect for 2 people. Cheese to sauce ratio is perfect. Not too cheesy or too saucy.. The crust is nice with a little crispness.. All together you can't go wrong. The service was great. I mean it's a Pizza shop yall. You just sit down and order. The staff was very nice and accommodating though. As far as ambience, it's a small Pizza shop. Not many patrons other than the staff who works there. No loud music. Just a nice cool spot with some tables to sit and eat at. Yeah.. Sonic you find yourself out in the Troy area and you want some slamming Pizza this is your spot! You can thanks me later. Have a great one yall!

No pizza by the slice! Food was good, pizza was artisan personal type brick oven. No crunch but the crust was good, toppings were decent overall. Tomatoes on top the arugula prosciutto wasn't my favorite. Service was a little slow and had some problems handling the 4 ppl I was with. Ambiance was weird, not inviting, had a weird smell, and pretty dark. Overall all 6/10.

Sausage pizza... so damn good!

Still remains my favorite in the Cap District. We wanted to try the new spot just down the street but it's only open for dinner hours so we were glad the original place still had indoor dining. We ordered sausage for there and lobster ravioli to go, pizza as usual was great and the LR was really good and huge raviolis.

I'm a Manhattan kid born and raised (E 120th & Paladino Ave & Greenwich Village) so I've eaten thousands of New York slices and believe me I know and love pizza Plus David Portnoy brought me here lol. DeFazio's is absolutely amazing I ordered the 16' sausage pizza and it was an absolute beauty and was pretty big. The sausage was perfect, the sauce was delicious, the crust was good and for $21 I couldn't have had a better lunch. The staff was unexpectedly diverse (Very refreshing to see) and the shop itself had a very old school vibe to it. I'll definitely be visiting again!

Absolutely delicious pizza! Very small interior but the service was good. This place is always so busy, this is the first time I've gone and it's not insanely busy.

Naturally it seemed like the perfect place for dinner! We decided to split a traditional cheese pizza and the chicken parm which turned out to be the perfect amount of food for the both of us - and some leftover. The pizza was great! Thick crust, classic marinara, and a generous amount of mozzarella. The chicken parm on the other hand was a disappointment. The chicken itself was too thick and dry, although a good portion size. The pasta was a complete miss. Flavorless, bland, and undercooked. The dish was also topped with cilantro which I thought was odd. For $27 and one of the more expensive items on the menu I was expecting it to be a lot more flavorful. Our service was sadly also not good. Our waitress was also a bartender so she got busier throughout the night with people at the bar. We ordered and she checked in on us once. We were waiting around awhile trying to catch her attention to get the check, but after 15mins another waitress ended up helping us out. We came on the slightly earlier side for dinner, but it was still a Friday night so by 6pm the place was packed and very loud.

That's $5 for a dozen steamed clams. I've received the emails. I think I saw tv ads, too. They've offered this special for years. I regret I didn't show up before because the clams were delicious! They also came out of the kitchen super fast. And the promotional worked, too. The large parking lot was packed with cars. All around me. I could hear people ordering dozens and dozens of clams. "How many dozens of clams would you like?" the server, Nichole, asked me. She was fabulous at her job. She was attentive, friendly and helpful with a winning smile. The only condition to the promotional is that diners need to order a drink or an entree with their clams. I only ordered one dozen clams because I wanted to save room for an entree and Saratoga water. I had the Chicken Marsala which was great. So was the warm, freshly baked bread which went well with the Saratoga water. As for ambiance, it's a pretty restaurant that serves as neighborhood gathering spot. The patrons, especially the ones at the bar, seem to know one another. It's a place where people come to talk, so there is a din, but it's a sign of people having a good time with good company and food. I never found the noise level to be excessive. I wish I had photos of the interior to share but all of the tables around me were taken and I don't photograph people dining out without their permission. I actually think the restaurant deserves more Yelp stars than it has. I look forward to coming back and you know, I'll be ordering more clams.

Rosanna's -- A Genuine Gem That Deserves Every Star There…read moreare restaurants you visit and forget, and then there are restaurants that stay with you long after the last bite. Rosanna's is firmly in the second category -- and after an exceptional dinner that left both of us completely satisfied and already planning our return visit, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we walked in, the ambience set the tone for the entire evening. Warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed, Rosanna's strikes that rare balance between intimate and lively -- the kind of space that feels equally suited for a romantic dinner for two or a celebratory night out with people you love. The lighting is soft without being dim, the energy is buzzing without being overwhelming, and every detail of the room communicates that this is a place that genuinely cares about the experience it creates for its guests. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu -- not in a rehearsed, corporate way but in the way that only happens when staff actually love where they work and believe in what they're serving. Questions were answered with confidence and warmth, dietary considerations were handled graciously and without any fuss, and the pacing of the meal felt exactly right. Not rushed, not forgotten -- just perfectly timed. It is the kind of service that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table to turn over. Now the food -- where do we even begin. We started with the Shrimp Balls and they were an immediate knockout. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and gone far too quickly. The arugula dip alongside them was bright and fresh -- a genuinely clever pairing that elevated what could have been a simple appetizer into something memorable. This dish alone would be worth coming back for. For mains we ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto -- elevated with a grilled shrimp skewer addition that turned an already outstanding dish into a complete and deeply satisfying meal. The risotto was everything a great risotto should be -- creamy without being heavy, deeply savory with layers of earthy mushroom flavor, finished beautifully with truffled pecorino that added just the right amount of richness. The shrimp skewer on top was perfectly grilled, plump and fresh -- a brilliant pairing with the earthiness of the mushrooms. Our dining companion ordered the Boneless Beef Short Ribs which arrived tender, deeply flavorful and beautifully plated -- the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. What makes Rosanna's truly special is that everything works together -- the room, the service, the food and the overall feeling of being genuinely well taken care of. This is not a restaurant that relies on one strong element to carry the others. Every component earns its place. Whether you are celebrating something special, treating someone you love or simply in search of a great dinner in wonderful company -- Rosanna's delivers on every level. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. You will not regret it. And the pellegrino soda was great I got the blood orange! And we took the olive oil orange cake to go yum!

Dinner before a show at Cohoes Music Hall…read more Walking in, the restaurant was more casual than other Italian restaurants in the area. It was mostly empty at 530 on a Friday night, service was fine but it seemed to be just one woman. We started off with wine and I was pleasantly surprised at the pour. We decided to start with the arancini. They were as expected, a creamy and cheesy risotto, breaded and fried. They were a little bland, and the sauce was very spicy, which we were not expecting, but was fine. The bread brought to the table was very crusty, maybe stale, the pesto dip was nice and the cute "A" in the balsamic was a nice touch. We then moved onto our entrees which were great portions. I ordered the Veal Francese. It costs an extra $5 to put this over pasta, for a $25 dish. So to my understanding, this dish is $25 for a piece of veal in a sauce and a half a cup of zucchini ... that doesn't make sense. Just include the pasta in the price. But, the pasta was great. You could tell it was made in house and had a great texture. The sauce was a thickened lemon/wine/butter sauce. The flavor was great but it was a little goopy. It was thickened with something like cornstarch as opposed to being reduced. There are many notes here, but it was a perfectly fine dish. I took half of it home and enjoyed it later after the show. My friend ordered the sorrentina, which was chicken and eggplant. She loved the dish and it was enormous, I did not sample it but it looked great. This is just a run of the mill average Italian spot. The parm cheese offered for the dishes was a flavorless shaker brought to the table. If you're looking to be impressed, maybe not the best spot, but if you're looking for a quiet dinner to catch up with a friend, why not!
