This place is awesome! My coworker is gluten free so I stopped here to get her a birthday treat, and they were so nice and helpful! I'll be going back for sure! read more

The cake was delicious!!! My husband and our guests loved it. This is the first time I order from Dee's, I had no idea about the filling, frosting. All I know is my husband loves chocolate but he doesn't like really sweet stuff. The lady recommended chocolate garnache which I've never had before, so she got me a spoon of sample to try. It was really good. On the pick up day, we actually got stuck in traffic, called them and they agreed to wait for us. I really appreciate for what they did. Even though it is a gluten free, nuts free, dairy free cake. It tasted just like a regular cake. I will definitely come back for more and try other stuffs. read more

First and foremost, everything here is dairy, gluten and nut free. Obviously a perfect place for those with dietary restrictions. And for those with refined sugar-related restrictions. I did see ONE item that was made with agave (yay). I've been eating a lot of grain-free, sugar-free goods lately and I thought Dee's was an okay bakery. I, personally, found that many of the like items sorta taste alike. For example, I ordered the the vanilla (?) donut and the boston cream pie and both seems to be constructed from the same basic recipe...what I would describe as a biscuit-y base. Except the donut tastes like a biscuit with lots of sugary frosting on top and the boston creme pie tastes like a biscuit submerged in pudding and chocolate. I also tried the red velvet cupcake (this is the item with agave-based frosting) and the whoopie pie. Again, both seemed to have been made from the same base recipe and then topped or filled with some different creams so that they can be given a different name. Additionally, I thought the cupcake rather dry. I don't know...everything was okay but I would like to see a little more creativity from the cute bakery rather than using a couple of base recipes and several different toppings/fillings. Maybe adding a fun herb to the lemon bars or perhaps a fruit or veggie puree to keep the cakes moist. There is parking available on the side of the building and the establishment accepts credit cards. Oh! and there is dry pasta available if you're in need. :) read more

I went here a once with a friend and got hooked; this is my go-to place for gluten and dairy free baked goods. They have amazing cupcakes, cakes, bars, brownies, and breads. They also do special items for holidays, so I would highly recommend stopping by their website or calling to see what they have. I get all of my pastries here for special occasions. I'm sure their cakes are delicious too, but I've found I enjoy the variety of having different pastries. There are so many time I am grateful that Dee's not only exists and is excellent, but is so close by! When my friends came to visit, one from Europe, both with food allergies, I made sure to make an order. It was perfect that they have egg-free options, too. read more

A wonderful local allergen free bakery. I always get my gluten free treats here! The lemon bars are to die for!!

So i spoke with their manager, Brandon - who was lovely and nice - completely understood that I really wanted their cakes - i mean GF, DF, SF! who doesnt want that? I still wnt that carrot cake. Going back in July for my bday to give them one other try. Like i was telling brandon, their carrot cupcake was the best i have tasted (and i have tasted plenty GF cakes in NYC...) Yes their bday cake was dry and crumbly but i respect the fact that their customer service was so prompt and interactive. Plus they are a local business - so more reasons for me to try them one last time before i make a judgment! read more

I made my first visit to Dee's Over the weekend and I will certainly be a repeat customer. No one in our family has food allergies, so out visit was based purely on recommendation and my review based solely on taste buds. My husband and I both had a whoopie pie and they were outstanding. My daughters each enjoyed a cupcake and raved about them. We will definitely be back! read more

Wow! Ok, I decided to write this review while eating my first cupcake from this bakery. I made it about 3 licks into the frosting and one bite into my sun cup to say "oh my, well yes this surely deserves a 5 star yelp review" So I'm new to this gluten free thing....and heard about Dees from all you other yelpers. So glad we have a community of people to tell me good places to try, you did not disappoint. I walked in and was promptly greeted. Being in customer service for a long time i always appreciate a friendly hello when i walk into business's. I walked around this small but fun filled store. There are freezers with pasta's, raviolis, tortellini's..... a sign about what their pizza specials of the day were.....treats galore... It was hard to limit myself. I am a total fat kid and could have easily taken one of everything. I went with their monkey cupcake, chocolate cupcake,a chocolate chunk cookie and a peanut butter cup they call a suncup I can only personally review the monkey cupcake which was decadent and delicious. Very filling and fairly priced. I have had one bite of the suncup (I had to review after all, haha) and OMG... most def that thing alone will bring me back. I brought the chocolate cupcake back to work for my co-worker/roommate and she called my cubicle to say "Um, is this one of those gluten free cupcakes?" I replied "Well, yes it is...." she said "OMG JEN ITS TO DIE FOR, THANK YOU SO MUCH" and this is from a non-gluten eater. Seal of approval all around folks! I am going to leave the cookie in my desk for a rainy day.... (luckily for me the forecast predicts rain tomorrow) but expect to love it as much as I loved everything else. I cant wait to go back for lunch one day and try their pizza! If you made it all the way through this review...good job! Now go make your way to Dees and treat yourself to one of their many awesome goodies! read more

Linley S. got really excited when we had some time to kill and I mentioned I was hungry. She knew just the place to take my gluten-free appetite! Cutest little house/shop, super friendly staff, and a myriad of delicious looking treats! We poked around for a minute, it's a small shop but well laid out so you don't feel cramped. They had cupcakes, brownies, blondies, cookies, crumb bars, and muffins. Plus a cold case of frozen gf goods. I heard they do a gluten free pizza as well! I stocked up on a huge blondie, a small bag of chocolate chip cookies, and a coconut magic bar, plus a vegan cookie for my mother, and my sister got an apple crumb bar. Prices are steep, but you are paying for Non-GMO, soy free, gluten free baked goods that are made with care and taste amazing. It took me all day to get through the huge blondie, and I had half of the magic bar last night which is also huge. My mom enjoyed her cookie and sister enjoyed her apple crumb bar. SO lucky for them to be so close to such a cool little shop that cares about what they're serving their customers. read more

I've counted on dees for years to make gluten and dairy free cupcakes for kids with allergies in my kids classroom. Their snacks are so yummy I started buying them for the whole class and our family too. I also appreciate that they are following state and federal health guidelines to keep their staff and customers healthy during the pandemic. read more

Amazing food free of common allergens, kind staff, and very dedicated to keeping everyone safe, especially during Covid times. I appreciate all they do and stop in any time I'm in the area! Keep up the great work Dee's...my family with multiple allergies loves your food! read more

My favorite thing about Dee's is that Dee and her staff are so nice and go above and beyond to ensure that you are happy that I feel great about supporting them every time I go there. You are warmly greeted when you enter the bakery and they are always helpful in a no pressure way. I have several allergies, but can eat almost everything at Dee's and I have tried most. Dee's is gluten, dairy, soy, and nut free, and almost everything is available in an egg free vegan option. Everything that I have tried has been delicious. I look forward to St Patrick's Day when she makes her Irish Soda Bread because it tastes just like my mom's. I would tell you that her lemon bars are my favorite thing in the world and that her Challah Bread makes any sandwich delicious, but I won't because I want to make sure that they are there for me when I go. :) read more

I got teary when I found this place. My son is gfcfef. Gluten casein egg free. I am not a baker but thank goodness Dee is!!!! He had his first muffin recently and you should have seen his face light up. I got cookies that we haven't tried yet but looking forward to it the bread is great. The breadsticks aren't egg free but they are a hit too as my son can rotate on and off w a bit of egg in his diet. The brownie is soo good. Let me tell you there is no missing gluten and the rest of it when you can eat Dees food. It's a blessing and worth any bit of a drive. Found you through Max et Mia restaurant. read more

Yum! I finally got a chance to come here and I thought this was a great little place! I came here on a Wednesday, which is their egg-free day. I had an egg-free chocolate chip whoopie pie and it was delicious. The prices are a bit high, but I would definitely come here again. read more

We love the donuts! They are truly very good. My kids love them so I would drive every Saturday even though I live in Farmington which is 30 min drive. The old location was great , it was easy in and out of the highway. I don't go anymore because it is so much harder to reach them in the inner Glastonbury. Always construction, always traffic. Not willing to sit in the traffic for another 20 min for donuts I would have given 5 starts just for donuts but over the years that I went, never once a friendly face from the staff. Cupcakes are very dense and sweet. They all taste the same and have a weird smell. When I took the girls with me, they didn't want to come in to the store because of this intense smell. Got birthday cakes twice. Both incredibly sweet and dense just like cupcakes. I guess I will only go for donuts if I feel like taking on the distance and the traffic read more

Traveling from out of state and feeling a strong craving for sugar/chocolate I happened upon this bakery based upon my location and yelps recommendations. This review is for the following 1. Service- 5 Stars, everyone there seems very happy and busy and friendly. 2. Cookie/Brownie (egg free)- The best thing I had made with applesauce instead of eggs. 4 Stars 3. Whoopie Pie- 2.5 or 3 stars- If I have time to go back I'll definitely try their bread and brownies. read more

While Gluten-Free bakeries are still by and large few and far between, there is still a wide range of "good and bad" players in this space. But I am happy to report that Dee's One Smart Cookie ranks at the top of their game!! A *very* friendly and helpful staff was on-hand to help answer questions and detail the wide range of G-F food items available in the shop. Everything from breads and pizzas to desert items like muffins and cakes. Dee has handled my Thanksgiving dinner order for the past 2 years, and despite it being a large and detailed order -- everything has come off without a hitch. Love this place -- really wish to recommend it to others with gluten sensitivity. The shop is 110 miles from my home, but its more than worth the nearly 2 hour one-way drive to pay a visit. read more

I was a 1st timer and a bit hesitant. I eventually left salivating with a half dozen assorted cupcakes in hand. Hahaha this just may be a weekly trip for me! Very friendly and helpful staff. read more

Dee's One Smart Cookie - Rolling eyes back delicious! Vegan cupcakes, my new fav! - Bakeries Near Me - Glastonbury, Connecticut

I've been a fan of Dee's for a couple years now after being diagnosed with a dairy sensitivity. The cupcakes, donuts and squares are all magical without even considering that they are allergen friendly. This past week, I had a small wedding reception with my family after Christmas and knew I needed a Dee's cake, since I also have a friend with a wheat allergy and my dad-in-law is also dairy free. I ordered a 12 inch egg free chocolate fudge cake with my favorite vanilla "butter"cream and raspberry filling, which is designed to feed 40-45 people and probably could have fed more. I consider it very reasonably priced at $100. Dee wasn't even open the day after Christmas, but she allowed me to come in and pick up my cake so It would be fresh. It was so beautiful. I asked for simple decoration and she added some gorgeous wedding style scrolls and swirls with little green leaf accents. As expected, it was also delicious and all my guests were blown away when I told them what was NOT in it. The egg free cake is pretty dense, but it's still awesome if you can't have eggs. I will always recommend Dee's to anyone and everyone (allergies or not). read more

BEST gluten free bread options around town. Would recommend the roasted red pepper or oatmeal!

Owner is a real B!! - I wouldn't spend my money here ! Honestly, the treats are pretty good but the service and atmosphere is not worth my money. Could be the best desserts in the world, the owner ruins it with her ugly attitude. read more

As a vegan that tries to consume as little gluten as possible I wish I could support this place. The food was ok but I've gone in multiple times to hear the employees being screamed at by their boss and it made me extremely uncomfortable as a customer. This place would be so convenient for me but I can't support it with a clear conscious knowing the way the employees are treated. they could very easily choose to talk to their employees in a less hostile manner. read more

I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. This is a god-send for people with dairy or wheat allergies. I have no idea how she makes the stuff she makes without the regular bakery ingredients but the stuff often tastes better than the real thing. One thing I love is that a lot of her stuff is not overly sweet and the ingredients are all super high quality and healthy(as healthy as sweets can be I guess). Each day she bakes her variety of breads(all of which are at least good and hold up well in the fridge unlike most gross gluten free breads you can find at whole foods) and then a bunch of sweets a lot of which I've tried(some are misses but most are delish). In any case, the fact that all this stuff is gluten-free, dairy-free and some is sugar free and still tastes as good as it does is beyond miraculous. Prices are pretty high, breads range from $7.99-$10.99 per loaf, sweets are in the $2-$4 each range so each time I come here and get some stuff I end up spending $25-$50 depending on how many people I'm buying for but it's all so worth it. The staff is all great and the owner is the coolest lady you'll find, glad to talk about anything related to the great stuff she bakes up each day. Truly a godsend for those with food allergies, we can finally enjoy sandwiches and sweets that taste just as good as the real thing. read more

Although I think the prices here are very expensive, I cannot believe how delicious the bars & cakes are. It's really amazing that these are gluten free & vegan. I have dined at the picnic table just outside here a pair of times for vegan pizza made fresh every Friday for lunch. The pizzas are a little pricey, but are absolutely delicious! The dairy free pizza appears to be made with daiya cheese and fresh vegetables can be added. The picnic table is the only seating, so this is unquestionably a take out place. read more

Excellent gluten free bakery- my husband and I have been going here for a while; the desserts are amazing, especially the blondies, cupcakes, and brownies. Wide array of freshly baked goods, we wish they were open later in the day on Saturdays and we would venture in more if they were and it would be nice if they had some Sunday hours- (closed on Sundays). Nice fresh local spot, excellent gluten free treats, my brother moved out of CT but absolutely loved this bakery and still goes to it when he's in town! Keep up the good work, friendly staff, sure- prices may be a little higher than another bakery you pay for what you get-"quality", and trust that this is a dedicated gluten free/vegan facility! read more

Best gluten free bakery ! I've tried so many gluten free breads , Dees has the best bread and baked goods .

ok maybe i should wait on this review.... since i havent had an opportunity to eat anything from here yet. i have tried a few times though - and they are always sold out of non-special orders. i guess thats a good sign, unless you didnt special order. hopefully next time i am in glastonbury it will be early enough in the day to get something from Dee's. gluten free bakers are popping up all over.. hopefully the good ones stick around! read more

While on a bike ride, another gluten-free friend of mine suggested Dee's. I'm so glad he made that suggestion. This place is awesome. All these goodies, cakes, and breads are gluten-free! Finally a bakery where I won't suffer from indulging a bit. While I haven't tried much here, everything I have tried is delicious, especially their chocolate cupcakes and scones. I haven't tried their bigger items since they are a bit pricey, and I prefer making my own gluten-free baked goods like bread and pizza crust, it is good to know there are options in the area. read more
