Very disappointed. Went here a few years back and enjoyed my sandwich. Stopped in the other day and ordered a chicken cutlet sub. It was terrible. It wasn't even a cutlet! It was chopped up chicken with basically no breading thrown on bread and no substance. The bread was super undercooked too. The worst sandwich I've ever had. Cupcakes were over five dollars also! Total rip off. Also, the staff in there is not friendly and super rude. I won't be going back. A smile and customer service goes a long way. Strongly don't recommend this place. read more

Motta's Bakery has been around for a long, long time and I can honestly say the quantity and quality of their products has remained at a very high level. They provide many variations of breads, cakes, pies, cookies and everything in between (brownies, fruit squares & eclairs to name a few) on a daily basis. They also have a vast variety of Italian cookies to choose from and they make every one themselves. On more than one occasion I've gone in to buy a few and end up getting a box full. Gotta have one ( or two) of each !! Want a grinder or pizza ?? They've got them as well. Their store is not large but sizable enough to accommodate all the goodies they have to offer. At times very much enjoy they're food. Amaretto Bars are YUMMY delicious treat. They make wonderful to order/decorated cakes too. The star is for the unfriendliness not for the pastries (which I never got to taste). Although online Yelp says that they are open on Sunday they are not. I went there thinking they would be open, I was looking forward to it since I am from Italy, but instead they were closed. I would not have minded about it if the owner would not have come out an yelled at me. There was a sign, he was right, but 1. I wanted to make sure that the place was really closed since the gate with the sign was opened and Yelp said it would be open, and 2. Since the location is not the easiest one to turn one's car I needed to turn. I guess they have plenty of customers, sure not the Italian friendly attitude I am accustomed to in Italy. For my birthday my wife got a chocolate mousse cake from this bakery. I'm very picky about this type of cake as I usually get them from another bakery. But this cake was very good. The cake is a fudge cake with an excellent chocolate ate moussE frosting. The nice thing is that the cake was a smaller size so you don't have a lot of leftover cake. I have been a customer for the last year at Motta's. I went to the bakery the Saturday before Easter and it was very busy. there was a line and I found the end of the line. I waited in line for 15 minutes not realizing one was supposed to take a number like at the deli. The woman behind me jumped in front of me when her number was called. I spoke up and politely said I was in front of her. the older woman behind the counter rudely told me theyonly went by numbers and I would have to go to the back of the line. I was "introduced" to Motta's by a friend who brought a box of their cookies when I was vacationing in Eastern CT. I got a chance to actually go to the bakery yesterday to pick up a few boxes of cookies. I love their wide selected of baked goods and the bakery itself smells wonderful. Besides baked good, they do make grinders and pizzas as well. Their cookies are spot on so I'll definitely recommend those if this is your first time. I love the raspberry bar and cheese & almond square I got. The raspberry bar is a bit too sweet for my tastebuds (I find most American desserts very sweet) but the cheese & almond square is perfect. I drove by this place so many times without stopping, or even realizing what it was. The building, design and location all make it too easy to drive right by it without noticing. It's located between a car dealership and the major intersection where Route 6 and 66 intersect (and Route 6 changes from a regular road to a divided highway). Although I'm not out that direction too often anymore, I used to have to drive that way for work at least once a month. You can safely assume I stopped by this place just about every time. I was typically in this place on a weekday between 11 AM and 1PM, and it was never crowded. More often than not I was the only person at all. This kind of makes sense, as you can't sit down anywhere anyways, but it always confused me nonetheless. The food is all baked goods. Here's a list of things I've seen there - Italian cookies, regular cookies, brownies, lemon squares, raspberry squares, elephant ears, hermits, cannolis, eclairs, miniature pies, full-size pies, cakes, macaroons, baklava, and much more. I don't really like the brownies (good flavor, just not gooey enough for me), but other than that I've been very pleased with everything. I get the baklava every time - I can't honestly tell you what baklava is supposed to be like...but theirs is delicious. Price: Pricing is very good - bigger things are around $1.00 and $1.50 apiece, so I would leave with more than my sweet tooth could probably handle for around $4. I would start by saying that their grinders are at least four stars. They are so good and by far my favorite place in the Willimantic area. The bread is thin and crispy yet chewy. They also have good cannolis but not mind bending delicious or anything. The problem is all their bakery items taste a little stale, and they take on the flavors of the things they are housed next to. So if you get chocolate it tastes a little bit like fruit or if you get vanilla little bit like chocolate etc. I grew up next to amazing bakeries in Hartford so maybe Im a little hard to please, but their bakery items just dont wow me. Terrible person there!!! Rude! Rude! Rude!!! My husband was in the hospital my son and his family came in unexpected due to flooding in NC and I was told they make pans of pasta. When I called I was literally yelled at by the owner. That he needed notice and who told me they did that? That was the second strike the first was a birthday cake I asked for. I wanted a paint ball cake with red blue and yellow splashes. I faxed over a picture with my request. One of the best bakery's in the area. Located in Columbia on RT6 at where RT6 and RT66 intersect this bakery is definitely a hidden gem. I have been coming here for many years and they have never been anything less than amazing. They have a ton of wicked good items, from the cookies and cakes to sandwiches and pizza. Their prices may seem a little steep when you see the list of items they offer, but believe me, for the quantity you receive and the quality, everything is dirt cheap. We would throw parties during the world cup, march madness etc where tons of people would be over the house and getting one of Motta's large sheet pizza's and a few huge grinders, there was always enough to serve a small army with style. I have about a 20-30 min ride to get there now, but I'm always willing to make the drive. I only fear the wrath when I get home and half of their deliecious cookies are missing. Prices here are a bit high. A full sized grinder will set you back $11. A dozen small cookies cost me $8.00. Service leaves a lot to be desired, they are just not that friendly. I ordered 2 grinders, a genoa and an eggplant. The women got confused and thought I only wanted the eggplant. When I inquired about the genoa, all I got was attitude. "WHAT? You ordered a Genoa? No one ever mentioned a Genoa!!!! You just ordered eggplant...etc, etc, etc. All they had to say was "Oh, I'm sorry, there must have been some confusion, would you like us to make you a Genoa"? I love Motta's Bakery located next to Columbia Ford on Route 6. I actually drive one hour round trip just to go to Motta's because they have fabulous mocha, vanilla, and carrot cakes. Their cheese almondine pastry is amazing. I love their ricotta cheese cannolis and they fill the cannolis while you wait so they are freshly made and delicious. They have a wide array of excellent cookies, pastries, breads, grinders, cakes, etc. I have been to this bakery about a dozen times so far and the service is always very friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful but there is no seating in the bakery. Motta's is my favorite bakery in eastern connecticut. Highly Recommended! read more

The closest bakery to me (in Storrs). They have great cookies and pastries. I always pick some up for big lab meetings and also bought a box of cookies and two buckles for my dissertation defense. Barely anything left after it was finished. Their prices are really great and they're always so nice. Mainly cookies and pastries. They do have cannolis and also some stuffed breads, which I have never tried, but sound fabulous.
