I opted for full Thai with a little less pressure in some areas too and both massage therapists accommodate our request. Today was my second visit. I'm super happy with the massage therapists. The first time was w/Ron & this man was walking all over my back-in a good way! Today he was not working so I looked thru reviews & decided to let Jenny massage me. I'm a creature of habit. Once i find the right one it's hard to let someone else in. Lol Jenny was very attentive to my needs regarding pressure & targeted areas. She showed concern with some of my sore spots & gifted me for my birthday some of her menthol balm. Wow! Scheduled a 90 min massage. While on my way, informed that massage would be moved to 30 min later and only 60 min but I could receive hot stones for the inconvenience. While on table, the therapist asked if I was getting hot stones. I explained the situation and off she went stating that "the front always makes mistakes and then offer hot stones. I am an independant contractor and now I have to work for free. I don't think that is fair". She went on and on. Now I am conflicted abt how to tip her. I don't want her working for free, but I also don't want her ruining my massage. I declined the hot stones because she said it would cut into my 60 min. massage time. At the front desk I was asked abt my massage. I told the truth. The therapist came in and asked if there was something I didn't like. I told her that I didn't like her working for free but also didn't appreciate her voicing her opinion while I was on the table ultimately ruining my massage. She walked away, then came back and made a snide remark and that was it for me. not sure I'll ever go back. read more

Great local salon! Was visiting a friend in Long Beach and we decided to get a massage here and had a great time. The place is located on 2nd Street right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of things. You have to go up to the second floor and you'll find it discreetly tucked away in a quiet little spot. Like many small Asian massage places, the place is pretty quaint, but very neat. I had an hour massage here and the service was great. My person was very attentive and relaxing and I honestly can't think of anything negative about how the massage went. After my massage, they let me wait in a separate, more private waiting area (rather than the waiting area where the entrance is) and they offered me a beverage and a snack which I appreciated. Dee Dee Thai Spa is conveniently located next to many cafes, restaurants, and bars so you can easily find a place to hang/eat before or after you get a massage and make it a whole experience. The only slight critique is that they only accept cash so make sure to have some on hand when you come here! read more

The guy I had the first time wasn't working so I went with someone else.. If I wanted a Swedish massage it would have been OK, but I wanted Thai massage. He did not give me a Thai massage. Wonderful experience today. The staff was super accommodating and welcoming. I barely could walk from hip pain that came out of nowhere - and they were able to squeeze me in. My rating is solely based on the massage I received and does not reflect the customer service or cleanliness of this parlor. First, let me start off by saying upon arrival I was greeted very nicely by the male receptionist who asked me to complete a chart detailing my my "target areas" (This of course is standard for most massage parlors). Upon completing the chart, the receptionist then asked me if I had ever had a "Sports massage" before and I responded yes. I am a very athletic person and frequently get sports massages to target sore muscles and joint paint from lifting weights. He did not clarify what "their" sports massage was nor did he explain that it may be slightly different then other places - especially since he saw my chart and clearly saw I was experiencing soreness in multiple areas. Nevertheless, I got the massage and although the woman was very nice, the massage was awful, it did nothing for me as a athlete. I left leaving more stressed and sore then when I came. All she did was rub oil on me and moderately stretch my legs. I remember getting very emotional and frustrated during the massage because it just wasn't at all what I needed. After it was over and I told the receptionist that my massage was "just okay." He proceeded to inform me that the sports massages at this location are simply just to warm up or cool down the body after a workout - there is no muscle or tension focus. I should have gotten the Thai massage instead. It would have been nice if this had of been explained either on your website or in person. If your going to offer a sports massage that doesn't target muscles please let your customers know. Most athletes looking to get a massage of this kind are looking for relief from musculoskeletal pain and disability. Sports massages typically includes kneading and manipulation of muscles, joint mobilization and joint manipulation. Great environment but I was very disappointed with what I received. I wasted $80 and will likely have to spend more money getting another massage somewhere else. read more

Just FYI this is a THAI massage spot so if you're expecting Swedish style this is not the place. I always come here because I need a deeper massage with stretching which is why I prefer Thai massages since not many therapists know how to stretch. This is great if you're active person or just enjoys stretching. Not sure why some bad reviews expecting otherwise. read more

Visiting in Long Beach & desperately needed to get some things worked out...I'd made an appointment elsewhere, but the therapist got sick & my appt got cancelled. Well, yelp to the rescue... I found a place a couple streets over from where I was staying & gave Dee Dee Thai Spa a call. I was able to get a 1 hour combo massage scheduled an hour later on Friday afternoon! So amazing!!! The place is easy to find with clear signage. Clean and efficiently managed with adequate place to put your stuff while you are being treated. Clear instructions about prepping for your massage. I prefer a firm touch & I was thrilled with the pressure...it was exactly what I needed. The massage was deeply therapeutic & a few times he struck some spots that raised me off the bed (j/k-but ya know what I mean). As for relaxation, not why I was there, so that came afterwards in the form of great sleep...Wow...there is no way DJ could have worked everything out that needs to be, but he sure made a difference! I didn't really enjoy it too much as the massage therapist didn't really ask me what problem spots I have and she skipped several muscles. I came here as a birthday gift to myself. I was able to do a walk-in session, but they prefer that you make an appointment. Cash only! I did a Swedish/Thai combination massage. I had initially had some strains and soreness from working out, the masseuse was able to relive me of all that. She implemented some light stretches in addition to your typical massage. She worked thoroughly starting on my back and then working her way from the top of my body all the way down to my feet. I paid for one hour and got one hour. They won't undercut you here. Overall cost was around seventy dollars and does not include tip. The masseuse and the front desk staff were very professional and friendly. I was initially at another spa down the street and they never tended to me. I am glad I came here, I strongly recommend you do as well. read more

I just received, perhaps, the worst massage of my life. I filled out the form prior to the massage indicating two areas of concern, which I confirmed when the therapist came into the room. The masseuse spent an inordinate amount of time simply pushing me in various directions and squeezing randomly with no focus on muscle groups. Only one of my two problem areas were addressed at all. And there was little to no symmetry in the massage (one instance being that the therapist massaged my right arm and skipped the left choosing to just stretch my shoulder instead). I now find myself needing to go elsewhere to have the rest of my problems addressed. There may be good therapists as well, but I don't think I'll keep spending money here in the hopes that I find one. read more
