FROM EXCITED TO NIGHTMARE TO RELIEVED TO THANKFUL! Jen/Rock the Glow Spa definitely deserves more than 5 stars after what I've put her through! LOL Apparently, My skin is not the easiest to work with. I had to learn that the hard way... I visited Jen 2 days before my NPC Bikini Competition, in hopes that she can help clear out my skin. She had asked if I was allergic to anything and I said "no, I don't think so". I've used several different products in the past, and I never had any issues with any of them, so I figured I should be fine, right? NOPE. Once I finished my treatment with Jen, I woke up the next day with a really bad allergic reaction. Eyes swollen, my face puffy, face hot and red, it was NIGHTMARE. I texted Jen and she was very quick to respond. She listed the ingredients that was used on my face (Vitamin E seaweed based, light coconut & papaya enzyme, etc) All things safe and natural. I never thought in a million I could be allergic to any of those. She asked if I could see her first thing in the morning, to take a closer look. Unfortunately, I couldn't make time to see her. I had to attend a mandatory meeting for my competition in Culver City that took all day. So she recommended I ice down my eyes, put hydrocortisone on my face, and take a Benadryl. The next day, I noticed my face was slowly going back to normal. My eyes were no longer swollen, my cheeks were slowly going back to my skin color. I was so RELIEVED. I was extremely busy that day and I didn't get a chance to tell her the good news! But she was very consistent with checking in to make sure my face had gotten better. She text me again and told me that she created a customized facial for me that didn't include the ingredients that I might be allergic to, and it was on the house! So I gave her another visit, and she explained what we will be doing that day and mentioned the ingredients she will be using... after my treatment, It was smooth sailing from there, no more allergic reaction! Thank you, Jen, for always being there for your clients! It truly shows, how dedicated you are to your craft. Sometimes, we have to learn from experience! Luckily, I found an esthetician that goes above and beyond. I've seen Jen several more times soon after, and so far it's been great. She now knows my skin and what it needs! My face is finally clearing up, and I'm currently using the products she recommended. The only time I will ever switch over to a different esthetician is if she retires!! I only recently discovered this gem of a spa which was recommended to me by a great friend who kept raving about the experience this place gives! I've been to see Esperanza twice to get a massage and she is great! She really knows how to work on those knots! This is a place to relax and rejuvenate! It was decorated so cute for the holidays! NOTE: Since writing this review I got a treatment with Jen. She is amazing! Funny and informative and explains what she is doing. More importantly doesn't do a hard sell on products she has available. Not everyone I've been to is like that. When she shows you how you look after the treatment with that mirror at the end, you feel and look amazing. I really felt like I "Rocked the GLOW!" I saw Esperanza again and each time I see her she makes me feel better and better and the knots are less and less. I ask a lot of questions and she is so knowledgeable. Jen has a beautiful studio. It looks brand new and she has been in business since 2016! She was welcoming and offered coffee and tea. There is a massage bed during the facial. The music is calming. I am a tense person, so the combo of the two helped me relax. Before the session, Jen asks what products I'm using and at the end of the session, helped adjust how often I should use the products and the order in which I should use them. Jen uses organic, natural scented, vegan, cruelty-free products. I was happy to hear our values aligned. Extractions hurt! But, they are well worth it to reveal new skin to fully absorb product. I had a lot of build-up; Jen attentively extracted every problematic pore after microdermabrasion. I can immediately feel the difference in my skin. The facial comes with a neck and shoulders massage, which were amazing. Jen is kind, accomadating and informative. She leaves her personal contact, so clients can ask any questions after the facial and give personal advice for skin regimen. I've been coming to Jen for a few months now and she always makes my face (and mind) feel refreshed after a session with her. She has curated a super chic little suite that is shared with 2 Massage Therapist: Body Retreat Spa & Relax Relive Repeat. The parking lot entrance is a bit confusing the 1st time you've been to the building. So, be careful! It's a really busy intersection, and in that part of Long Beach people are always rushing and usually rude (let's just be honest- they're entitled). THE PRODUCT: I came in for a wax service (Brazilian) and a much needed winter lip treatment (normally a facial add on). The wax felt just as luxurious as the companies vibe. I was super comfortable during the service & didn't have any skin sensitivity or chaffing we sometimes experience with waxing services. THE PERSUASION: There are certain things I won't compromise on even if it costs me a sacrifice somewhere in my budget: 1) my curly hair products 2) facial products. Found her on Yelp, and scheduled my appointment. She was super welcoming, accommodating and answered all my questions! The facial was amazing, and it left my skin feeling baby soft. I was a little apprehensive about the extraction portion of the facial, since as an oily/combo girl I get congested a lot. The last time I had an extraction, I was hurting so much and bleeding all over! But Jen took great care of me.
