I had a very disappointing experience with this business after purchasing a Groupon for a massage…read more In order to book the appointment, I was required to use and redeem my Groupon code upfront. I booked my appointment weeks in advance and planned my schedule around it. Shortly before the appointment, the business rescheduled me without notice to a different day that I was not available. When I explained that I could not make the new date and asked to keep my original appointment, I was told the therapist was "at maximum capacity." I even offered to pay the difference in person if needed, but they still refused to honor the original appointment. At that point, I asked to reschedule or receive a refund since the service I paid for was never provided. The business refused both options, stating it was their policy, and then stopped responding to my messages entirely. To summarize: they require Groupon codes to be redeemed just to book, then refuse to reschedule or refund if they cancel or change the appointment. I paid for a service that was never rendered and was left with no resolution. I understand protecting staff and policies, but customers should not lose their money when the business is unable to provide the service. Based on this experience, I would not recommend using a Groupon here or booking at all unless you're willing to risk losing your payment. Please see photos for proof of the exchange with the business owner.

Throughout the past week or so I've called multiple times, left multiple messages - no callback or response from the office. I got referred to Merle by a trusted friend (Patricia J, whose review got filtered out--unjustly, I feel) so I decided to treat myself. Located in an unassuming medical plaza near CSULB, it felt more like visiting a doctor's office than a salon at first, but once you step in it's a very nice, welcoming environment. Merle is very personable and professional and made me feel right at home. You know you're in for a pretty serious treatment when you actually have to change into a strapless towel dress for just a facial. She starts off with a paraffin dip for your hands, which are then bagged and placed into these electric oven mitt thingies that keep the wax and your hands warm. She takes these off about halfway through your treatment and gives you a hand and arm massage. Just so you know, this is not a usual thing you get with a facial--stuff like this would be extra. She does other bonus things like this all throughout your facial: she scrubbed my feet and gave me a neck and shoulder massage while waiting for various masks to dry. The actual facial begins with her examining your skin to see what kinds of treatments you need. She doesn't offer a menu that you choose from; it's kind of like getting an omakase meal at a sushi restaurant, where you defer to the chef's expertise in determining what you're going to eat. She did a minor eyebrow wax, microdermabrasion, a chemical peel, light treatment (she gave me a whole fascinating history of her experience with light therapy), some spot antibacterial wand thingy, extractions (ow), and I think two kinds of masks--all the while doing all the bonus stuff. My face got worked for about an hour and half, and I left feeling very much like I got my money's worth. I also felt like I gained a lot of knowledge about my skin and skin care in general--Merle loves to share her knowledge and her own experiences, and welcomes whatever questions you may have. Anyway, I wish I had the means to go see her on a regular basis, but alas, it shall have to be a special treat for me. If you want a really serious facial, you can't beat a visit to Light Touch Therapy.
