Declan's surprised me in the best way! There is outdoor dining along the front and side of the pub, which is perfect for summer nights. Our server, Connor (I hope I'm remembering right!) was just the best. Attentive, friendly, and so welcoming. We loved him! What surprised me the most though was the food. It's so good?! Typically pubs like this have pretty mediocre offerings, but Declan's is definitely a step above the rest. Collectively we loved the fried pickles, but my grilled chicken sandwich was also fantastic. Great spot all around. Will definitely be back!

Came here to hang out with some friends and watch a few games - [[HIGHLIGHT]]there were plenty of screens, so no matter where you sat, you could see the game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quite busy on a Saturday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a reservation and got a table in the back area. Staff was nice and attentive! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great spot for a casual hangout/drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have half off salads on weekends and $5 bloody mary's!

Awesome spot and highly recommend. Great burgers and sandwiches. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very dog friendly patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner volunteers at the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue to help dogs in need. Safe to say mine will be back to have another Guinness.

Hosted an engagement party here in 1/18/24 and it was the right choice ! The service was great and the food was very good. Plum, our bartender, went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Declan's has a private space upstairs that feels like you are in a bar in Dublin![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dave, the owner , made sure everything ran smoothly. Make Declan's your next party event!!

Criminy, how many Irish pubs within a mile? Declan's is yet another one. It has more of a hipster feel than somewhere like D4 and Dublin, with a laidback too cool for you kind of atmosphere that fits in around Old Town. Gets busy at times but it hardly gets rowdy in here. This is more of a place where bartenders discuss their indie playlists rather than belligerently talk about boobs and stuff. Beers of course include Guinness. It also has a fairly good amount of crafts, with many that are local. They also have plenty of liquors but a surprising lack of variety of Irish whiskey. It's $8 for a Jameson. That seems kind of a lot but oh well. It's ice cold. They also have a better than expected food menu. Besides the typical pub grub, vegetarians can have a Chipotle Black Bean Burger. It's $14, which is definitely overpriced. This comes with on a brioche or a pretzel bun with a side. It's the only thing I've eaten here. The rest of the menu is meaty. For another Irish pub it has charm. It also has an upstairs good for private events. This is best for large groups and parties.

A fun spot to go to with friends! We always sit outside and enjoy a beer bucket after our intermareal volleyball games and the servers are always able to accommodate our large group. The food is pretty good for bar food; the tater tots are my favorite. Declan's is a nice bar if you're in the Old Town area and want a cold drink and to watch a sports game or hang out with friends!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun place watch college football.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However Guinness is really bad. See side glass does not stick at all. Supposed be Irish bat so was really surprised how bad their Guinness was

After many years of walking past Miller's Pub I finally had the opportunity to have dinner there…read more The inside of the pub is dark wood with lots of pictures of the family that owns Miller's Pub plus pictures of celebrities who have been there. The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Over all I'll be keeping Miller's Pub in mind when we need somewhere to go for dinner or lunch and don't necessarily want fast food or the latest hot restaurant.

This is a nice, cozy restaurant and bar, and they really go all out with the decorations during the holidays. We ordered the special (haddock) and the clam chowder. The food was a bit hit or miss. The clam chowder was watery and came out lukewarm. The entrée was much better, the haddock was amazing hot, fresh, and crispy! Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was also lukewarm, although the fries were piping hot. We've been here many times before, especially during the holidays, and it has never disappointed us. Maybe this was just an off night, with some of the dishes not coming out as hot or fresh as they should have been. We'll come back and give it another try the next time we're in the area.

The ribs fell off the bone and were delicious. The tots were super good, just the right amount of garlic and cheese. The side salad was good, almost too much for the amount of dressing. The Mac and Cheese was really good, not based in an Alfredo sauce. I had a bite of the Wife's bowl of orange chicken. It was really good. It was Goldielocks, not to spicy not to sweet, just right. Oh and it was huge according to the better half. We ordered on Grubhub so I can't talk about the service and the way it looked inside. My hotel room was very quiet and comfortable.

Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short. Getting into the bar requires walking down a very steep staircase, which seems like it could be a safety concern, especially during the winter. Once inside, there was a strong bleach odor that was hard to ignore. After being there for a bit, I also noticed fruit flies around the bar. I had planned on ordering food, but the smell and overall atmosphere changed my mind. The staff were great, but because of the cleanliness concerns and layout, I wouldn't return.

We wandered in after dinner nearby and wanted a chill cocktail, we got the cocktail, not so much the chill...and that was 100% okay with us once we realized what we came upon at the top of that staircase. While small, they have all the goods for classic cocktails and even several house curated drinks. You can basically get dealers choice, which is a rotating house cocktail and it will run you around $13, which is the price that most cocktails came in at. The drink menu is seasonal and changes often, but they still sling all the classics and really anything you can think of. My partner went with a house cocktail, but I was after an espresso martini...and honestly, this doesn't seem like an espresso martini place, but they came through and it was a delightful nightcap for sure! Service was stellar, the bartenders were chill, engaged, friendly and efficient. Overall, solid spot for a cocktail in the West Loop - Definitely worth the trip in and up those stairs!

The staff is friendly and helpful (even got a free glass of champagne to celebrate my friend's birthday). It's an easy spot to walk into and, if you're lucky, plop down on one of the seats until closing. The bar's a little hidden in the SoHo house building, and once you're inside behind the swinging saloon doors you're welcomed by a cosy dive bar setting. If there are three things that made the experience this time around less optimal: the bar seemed to have attracted some rowdy/intrusive drunks (we got harassed a few times), the bar area itself had a puke-y smell going on, and the time it takes to get a drink can be quite long.
