After watching an episode of Chef's Table on Netflix with Asma Khan, my wife was craving Indian food. In particular, a paneer dish. We ordered a paneer tikka masala (which came with white rice), a paratha (bread), and samosa chaat. The paneer tikka masala was excellent. It was very saucy and creamy, and had an adequate amount of cheese cubes. It went very nicely with the fresh-made paratha. The rice was okay. The samosa chaat was a little on the spicy side, even though we ordered the mild version. It wasn't unmanageable heat, though. My only real complaint is that it didn't have the sweet tamarind sauce that some other places serve atop chaat dishes. The mix of sweet and spicy is what creates that umami goodness we all know and love. Unfortunately that aspect was missing from this chaat, but otherwise it was good. read more

Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant in the 'burbs - maybe even some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India and my family's house. The food hasn't been "Americanized," so the flavors are authentic, they don't skimp on spice, and it is fresh. The tandoori chicken and mixed tandoori plate was amazing - moist, flavorful, and suuuuper yummy char. Drool. The shrimp curry is my FAVORITE. Tiger prawns!!!!! So legit!! DOUBLE DROOOL. Ok and this one was unexpected, but I didn't realize that I had been settling for mediocre samosas at other places until I ate these samosas. Drooly drool. Goat biriyani - the meat was actually really lean, not too fatty, but I think I'd try a different meat or just egg biriyani next time. Do yourself a favor and check out this Hyderabadi place!!! Me and my husband came to Deccan spices on Saturday evening dinner . We didnot do any reservations , directly walked in. The waiter offered to sit in the middle where as I asked him to give us a window facing booth . There were plenty of places empty , but we got a table to sit near the rear wall corner which I didnot like . The sever gave the menu asked us about order . I was checking drink menu and he asked us to order food without asking what to drink . Then I ordered some wine . I just looked at the plates . They plates were dirty and had black stain marks ( pictured attached for reference) . I asked to change the plates but looks like the other one's I got had also stain marks . We ordered Chicken Manchuria , Lamb Dum biryani and egg fried Hakka noodles . The appetizer arrived within 10 mins . Then server delivered one of the main course and asked us to wait for other main course . I was expecting all the main course to arrive together. I waited for about 10 min for other main course to arrive . The Chicken Manchurian was nice , moist , tender , little tangy and perfectly cooked . We loved it . The Egg Hakka noodles were perfect . The biryani was cold but the food was flavourful . I love the food at Deccan spices . They have perfect Indian flavour . There were tiny mosquitos flying inside the restaurant. The music was boring . My favorite Indian restaurant to visit in Naperville! Located conveniently off of Gartner Avenue with lots of parking, this place has a lot of options of food to choose from. They have a great lunch buffet, and you can always order items off the menu custom to your liking, including spice level! They have been so gracious about dietary restrictions for my family, and have helped me find something I can order for them. I really liked their attention to detail and customer service in that regard. The only dish I have not liked from them would be their saag paneer, which didn't really taste like traditional saag paneer. Otherwise, all their other paneer dishes were amazing! Just an average Indian restaurant in the Naperville area. Server was pleasant and helpful. Service was speedy. We ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, Channa Bhatura and Aloo Paratha. Both Paneer and Channa looked a bit too tomato red for my liking but the taste was good. I would have preferred a bit more spicy, but then I hadn't specified spice level while ordering. The Aloo Paratha was hot and fresh. We also ordered a side of Yogurt and really liked the thick pot of yogurt. I did have a small problem with redeeming my Yelp coupon. The coupon was for 15% and I was only allowed to redeem 10%. I could see myself going here again to try different dishes. read more

Some of our usuals are their paneer butter masala, palak paneer, lamb vindaloo, channa masala, shrimp biriyani, & of course their garlic naan. Can't go wrong with their samosas, which are huge! Lavanya was so great in helping us figure out our spice level & taking care of us. They have a pretty wide selection of Indian beers as well! Went for a dine in today and enjoyed my visit. Tried their dum biryani, mahi mahi tikka and bheja fry. Everything was fresh and tasty. They had options for spice levels as well so accommodates most people. Ordered butter naan. They were a bit pricey comparatively but really nice. Waiting time for the door was reasonable and compensated by the freshness of the food. Would definitely recommend. Ps. Confirmed on their halal status twice from different servers just for my satisfaction and they assured it was Halal. Good to hear that! read more

Went for a dine-in on an afternoon. Ordered Andhra Chilli Chicken and Gobi 65 as starters. Andhra Chilli Chicken was good and delicious, but the gobi 65 wasn't cooked properly. In the main course, ordered a butter chicken which was worst butter chicken I ever had. It had excessive tomato taste which ruined the dish. Deccan special chicken biryani was good but the goat biryani was slightly bland and dint reach upto the mark. Also, after starters, the biryani was served to us very late as they were giving priority to online orders and leaving the dine-in service. I agree that the Wednesday 1+1 biryani offer is good but the curries should be cooked well. I hope the next time I visit the restaurant again, I get good food and change this review. read more

The food and the service are wonderful! However, I've never seen a place so filthy! I was absolutely shocked. I've never seen a place where you can visibly see dirt on the walls. Lots of it. They need to get in there and do a good scrubbing so I wouldn't say the ambience is there. But the food is definitely delicious. They need to understand when people are eating there and they see dirt makes them wonder what the kitchen is like. read more

Food was decent, but like other low reviews say, ordering take-out is terrible. Absolutely terrible. We went to pick up our food and I gave all the info of the order to make sure I received the correct one. The worker looked at one of the bags, said it was the name/number said, and gave it to me. Lo and behold, it was the wrong order. Only discovered while nearly home 15 mins away. They called for us to return and trade the food back with the actual orderer (by the way, terrible health standard: you really should not take back food that has left your restaurant already). So another 15 mins back to get the original order. You'd think after such a mix-up, a restaurant would do something to remedy the wasted gas and time, right? Nah, no respect for the customers. With so many negative takeout reviews, a restaurant that cares for their customers would do something to change that process: Think about where else they lack respect for their customers. Food was amazing. Biryani, dosa, and Telangana curry were delicious and I would order each again. The balance of spices was perfect. There were a variety of chutneys to go with the dosa. The telangana curry was unique and very flavorful, something I could eat every day. Good drink selections too. Cozy and comfortable spot. Servers were attentive. It's been a year since I've been in an Indian restaurant, thanks to the Covid curse, and I was ready for a Bolly feed with bells on. Like many Indian restos, the room isn't very much to look at. but the surroundings have a fine, homey vibe, and the staff is perfectly accommodating. Now the menu is another story. Lots and lots of veg and non-veg options, with a number of things you don't see on common Indian menus. A bunch of great-looking specials on a separate sheet as well. I took most of my entire dinner from that "special" sheet. Water and a basket of Pappadoms with green chutney came almost immediately. I'm a total sucker for Pappadoms, gotta admit. I spied "Rasam" on the menu. It's a soup that has about a million different interps, depending on the chef. Here it is a robust broth with tomatoes and other debris at the bottom of the bowl. I ordered it "spicy" and they weren't kidding. A fine and glowing heat, but not enough to hurt--just perfect. For entrée, I had something called "Rajasthani Laal Maas"-A VERY spicy Lamb curry. Again, it was a chili-forward stew, divine over the provided long-grain rice which was so good, I'd eat it plain. Hotter than hell and abounding with flavor, but not so hot as to be painful. As you find in some Indian lamb preparations, you have to be on the lookout for small bones with each bite, lest you crunch a molar on them. Not as annoying as it sounds, but still a consideration. For dessert I had fine Masala Chai and my fave Indian Sweet "Gulab Jamun"-golfball-sized orbs of cake-like stuff in rosewater syrup with cardamom and almond slivers. Deccan's rendition was spot-on. A great great Indian feed, and I can't wait to go back and explore the stuff on the menu I've never had before. A new fave indeed!!! Go eat there soon! read more

Did a takeout on a weekday. Good part is unlike other Indian restaurants this place is open till late. Ordered Chicken dum biryani, dal makhni with garlic naan and gobi Manchurian. Even though it was a takeout order I LOVED their gobi manchurian. It's a must have!! Dal Makhni and biryani are good too. Overall food was pretty good. Had a quick glance at the ambience, it's decent. Nothing fancy though. I will definitely try out more of their menu and dine in probably. read more

Great Indian restaurant. I'm Hyderabadi and my parents have their stamp of approval. We ordered the following: Chicken 65: this is an appetizer so it's made more on the dry side, but it was a table favorite. Butter chicken: the portion is huge. This is a little on the sweeter side, if you want more savory go for the chicken tikka masala. Comes with white rice. Mixed tandoori grill: great plate for a large table to try. I really like the seekh kabob and tandoori chicken. Hyderabadi lamb biryani: this is a great dish and is authentic biryani. Garlic and butter naan: tastes made fresh to order. My daughter loves eating biryani, but does not have the pallet for spicy foods... I specifically told the waitress to make it mild which by the receipt she did note .. the biryani was the opposite of mild.
