I recently moved to Jersey and I was looking for a lovely place to have dinner. I came across this resto during my search for Indian food, and although the reviews were mixed I decided to drive 30mins anyways because of the decor. I have to say I was NOT disappointed, the staff was very attentive, they were very careful on seating us 6ft apart from others and the food.... delicious! Some people wrote reviews about the price but I have to say if you are looking for a bargain during these hard times buy groceries and cook or go to a fast food restaurant. Lastly I wasn't surprised on how delicious the food was once I heard what resto the owner use to manage in Tribeca, I will definitely take the drive and visit again. read more

Great food. Staff is very accommodating. Love the ambience. Its certainly my go-to restaurant when I crave for Indian food.

This place is amazing! The look & vibe was very upscale beautiful inside !! & service was very attentive. Ganesh and staff was really willing to help with ordering & suggestions . The food was excellent ! The flavors give you taste buds a vacation to the the land exotica. I've enjoyed food from this region before but never to the extent they created!!! Definitely worth trying if you are adventurous with flavors ! You will not be disappointed!! Looking forward to returning many times& introducing friends to a amazing flavor experience !!!!!! read more

well it was our first time there for a birthday celebration way way overpriced and they nickel and dime your for every single thing. it is like frontier airlines. I am surprised they did not charge for using the bathroom and picking the correct seats. they even charge for a glass of water and basic things like onions and lemons on the side. Would not recommend and not go back again. read more

Such a pathetic food. Chicken 65 tastes more like chicken curry, biryani does not have any flavor/no salt (terrible!!) And heleem=horrible. Low quality, too expensive!! I literally had to have dal chawal to bring back my taste buds. Being a hyderabadi this food is no where closer. Nothing deccan, no spice! read more

Top tier restaurant in Edison New Jersey. Amazing service the waiter was kind and made sure to recommend us the best foods on the menu when we were confused on what to get. The presentation was also top tier. The food was something special the Manchurian was some of the best I've ever had from a restaurant and my family also enjoyed the biryani and paneer angari was also great. One of the best restaurants in Edison upon entry and will only get better from here. read more

Great Food, service by our host Ariana, great ambiance and light music. Best place for fine dining and chill with friends. I love the robots in the restaurant which was cool. read more

Food is not fresh but is frozen. Good ambience , however the staff and owner were rude when it was pointed out that the food was under cooked. read more

The food is lackluster and the service is below mediocre. Some of the food is right out of the frozen box. Also don't forget that the water is $8 for 16oz water with no option for regular water. 18% service fee is forced and food is priced premium. They also mixed up our order and our food made a visit to multiple tables before ending up at ours. Total rip off, never going back. read more

Ordered butter chicken and Angarey Paneer, butter chicken costed 25$ no value for money. Angarey Paneer, paneer was hard and tasteless. Don't think i'm ever ordering again. read more

Decor is okay, slightly better than other Indian restaurants. Food is below average & some of the items are the worst excuse in the name of authentic food. On Nov 22nd evening, out of 6 starters (3 veg & 3 non-veg) Tandoori Paneer (chewy like rubber) & Samosa ( must have been refried ten times, was hardened, soaking oil and almost blackish in color) worst. Main veg dishes; Dal Makhani was the most horrible ( word of advice to the chef- don't list, or make a North Indian dish because it was the greatest insult to Dal Makhni in the whole of United States), Malai Kofta ( super lousy, looked ugly in brown colored gravy), non veg Bheja Fry lousy, Butter Chicken below average, much hyped Deccan Special Chicken Biryani hardly tempting. Out of the breads; Laccha Parantha & Tandoori roti horrible and onion, garlic nans just average. After big disappointment, we had no stamina left to try any dessert. On top of high prices, the hostess shamelessly said that she would charge $5 per person as serving charges for the birthday cake I had brought with myself. Of course I refused and left with the uncut cake I so wanted to cut with my family! They also charge $8 per bottled water and take your credit card to make reservation and threaten you that if you are late by 5 minutes also or don't show up, they will deduct $50! I will never go to this piece of shit restaurant ever again in my life! The owner, chef, hostess have clearly zero hospitality, courtesy or manners. read more

Horrible service with mediocre food. If you want to go with kids, get ready to be humiliated as well. The guy working there said "They do not want kids dining here because kids spoil the "Look" of the place" . If you do not want to allow kids, then do not let customer who want to come in with kids make reservations and mention upfront that this restaurant is for adults only . Waiters have no clue and do not check in on diners, service is just HORRIBLE. Rather than focusing on "Look" of the place, they should focus on providing good service and food. read more

The food was really good. Excellent service. Food was right level of spicy. Great lighting and design.

Just entered the restaurant, whats surprising is they don't server regular tap water, and forcing customers to buy bottle water... be careful there are lot more surprises, more to come. read more

Great fine dining experience in Edison few minutes from Metropark train station. Decor is like a sports bar. Food and presentation is extraordinarily good. Seating is spread out. Innovative drinks and starters. read more

The ambience of the place is really outstanding. The food is good with perfect amount of spices. A good restaurant to visit. Overall a perfect restaurant with perfect ambience and food. read more

$8 for a bottle of water!!! Indian food is supposed to be spicy and water is needed, especially with kids. Nonsense

Bruh $8 for water without an option for free tap water is very scammy. Note that it is illegal in US for restaurants with a liquor license to not provide free water if requested. I am disgusted that I did not realize this while I was at the place. Had to google it up after. Very disappointed read more

Worst experience ever...we ordered three vegetarian appetizers...angari paneer was just ok...hara bhara kabab was good... but gobi manchurian was pathetic... not cooked properly and very spicy... my kids were not able to eat that... when we called server... she said.. we will replace it and make it again...we waited like 15 to 20 minutes to make it done... but when we ask two three times... they served us 2 piece of gobi manchurian with gravy... when we asked ... what is this... manager came and she said ...only 2 pieces were left in the plate that's y... we gave you 2 piece only.... Seriously... I mean ... I never had that kind of experience in my life...... drinks were very bad... even in Covid situation... they didn't allow us to take kids water bottles.... and give their own water bottles ($8)...water was smelly as well.... If there would be an option of giving no star...I would definitely give no star...they charge you for what they don't serve to you..... food was below average but the worst part was hospitality & attitude.Never ever go there again Nothing was consumed...everything was in plates and serving bowl..... if it was consumed in kitchen that's another thing... I hope you understand..... we can't eat raw food served with spices ....sad we were not smart enough to take pictures but we still paid for the uncooked food which we didn't even ate read more

Extremely overpriced with there fancy food. The taste is below average!!. Drinking water is charged to customers and is almost 10 bucks. Don't recommend this restaurant. read more

If there was an option I would have given it a negative star ... I think all these 5 star reviews are their own people ...This is the worst place ever ... we made a reservation for Saturday evening at 7:30 for 3 people .. we reached there at 7:30 and the hostess took us to a table with 4 chairs ... after seeing that we were 2 adults and 1 kid she asked us to move to another table with 2 chair and said would give high chair for my kid ... I had requested a high chair but I said the table is every small for 3 people since my kid does have his own plate and can sit on the chair as well .. as per the host ness of it it a table of 4 they have to sit 4 people .. ok so what about 3 people ?? Won't you allow them ... I saw many table which were meant for 5 and only 3-4 people sitting on it .. anyways ... after back and forth when we decided to walk away she moved us to table of 4 ... it only gets worse ... we never received menu until 7:55 ... 25 mins in the restaurant and there was no menu .. worse no water even after requesting a server to get us some water ... finally after waiting till 8:15 we left with no food or water as no body came to take our order or gave us any water ... we had a long day and were hungry and at last minute had to go somewhere else ... I would not recommend this place at all !!! There are many restaurants which not only offer good food but good service as well ... worst experience for a Saturday evening ... would never ever go back ... Please avoid if you can !!! read more

Not so good service, charged me with an extra bottle of water and not sure whether the bottle was sealed or not, also charged me for expensive drink. Food was good but the service need to be improved. They did provide the refund but it was quite a hassle. read more

Fantastic restaurant with great service and exceptional food. It was truly an amazing experience.

I heard about Deccan spice at Radio Mircihi and decided to check out this place in Edison. Excellent experience. Great ambience, and the service is way beyond i had expected. I so appreciate the service give. To us by Adrian in very efficient and knowledgeable manner. He got me adrak pomegranate drink exactly the way I wanted it to be. Food was well cooked. We had veg biryani and sukha mutton with bullet naan. The spice mix was great and it seemed so fresh and prepared with passion food. I highly recommend this place for a nice meal. No disappointments. Thanks to the entire staff that made our visit so warm and welcoming. read more

Food is ok, but too pricey and they don't even offer water even if asked. Have to buy the water bottle which is $8/bottle. Not going back. Asked for 2 shots of plain liquor but only given 1 shot and had to tell them that they were charging me for 2 but only received 1, they corrected it though. read more

I ordered food for pickup the pricing is ridiculously high, why would a chicken special biryani $22, it's quality is also lower than many Indian restaurants. Wouldn't even mind going back in there. read more

Hi all, I am not the one who usually will write a review unless my experience was truly horrible or truly amazing. I went to Deccan spice to celebrate my fathers and brothers birthday on a Saturday evening. I was extremely disappointed with the service. We were seated for almost 15 min and no server came to ask us for water or drink or anything. After that long wait we were finally able to get attention from one of the server. Going to a restaurant where I am going to spend $$$ the least I can expect is a greet hi how are you, a small intro like any other upscale restaurant. Disregarding this we ordered drinks and food. Our appetizers came out before our drinks!!! They charged us $8 per bottle of water. I have never been to a restaurant that charges for water not even Michelin star restaurants, and I have been to many even out of country. We started off with soup which was runny like water and had no flavor. Next Our appetizers were not fresh the paneer was very hard like any store bought paneer and the kebabs like any other restaurant. We then ordered our main course which was not extravagant, simple food that you can expect at any other Indian restaurant if not even better at other places. With all the food we ordered our check was almost close to $400 including service charge. I honestly feel it was a rip off since the experience and food was both very disappointing. For a place that will charge me a decent price for an entree I expect something more in flavor, presentation and service. Overall it was a horrible dinner and wasted money. I will definitely not be going back and would advice you all to not go either. read more

it was my first time yesterday to have visited. we were seated right away even though we were 12 of us. the ambiance is nice, the hara bhara kabaabs were really good as well. the food however was NOT good. The Paneer makhni, was not good. We asked for 2 orders at 2 different spice level, which was not accommodated. The regular naan was bad too, it wasn't made fresh but just toasted again and served. Overall a disappointing experience with $450 spent. read more

My first visit here and the 4/5 is becoz they are newbee in town... having said that, this is not out pf generosity, they earned it every bit... The ambience and suttle warm interiors make you feel in place... food was very tasty and not disappointing for a new business... good luck... read more

My family and I went to Deccan Spice and absolutely loved it. I was concerned when I read some of the reviews, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. The food was very good. We got the lobster rasa, kurkure bindi, chicken Szechwan old Delhi butter chicken, lamb chops, salmon (zaffron machli), and British tikka masala. Everything was great. We asked that the British tikka masala be mild for the kids and they did a great job, my boys loved it. Our waiter Jamie had a great sense of humor and was friendly and helpful. There are some additional expenses that I would prefer they remove like the $8 for water. We got 3 cocktails and all of them were creative and tasted great. We were impressed by the robot assistants and can understand why the pricing was on the higher side. I would definitely go back and am already recommending it to friends. This place is meant for foodies and not those who are trying to get a discount or cheap deal. read more

This place is mid at best. they charge $8 per bottle for water and add an automatic 18% gratuity regardless of the poor service. Our server only came to check on us when it was time to order something but couldn't care less about if we liked the food. Also the tables are sorta garbage and wobble a ton. For the cost of this place you'd think they'd have nice bathrooms but nope. The sinks barely dribbled water and there was no working soap dispensers. Also they had a plastic bottle of soap with a broken pump on it which also was pretty. much useless. This whole restaurant is a total gimmick from the stupid robots and the poor quality service. Not serving free tap water is just bad business. This is edison my guy not NYC. No wonder their restaurant was practically empty on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Anyone can tell this place is nonsense. At least the food was really good otherwise this place would be a total dump. I would not recommend this place at all unless you're happy to blow your money. at least the food will be good so that's why 1 stars. read more

We drove all the way from Philadelphia because I ate here once before with family and wanted my husband to try it. From the time we arrived at the front with our reservation to be seated we were greeted with rudeness. Service is slow and terrible. It took us 3 hours to finish dinner because we had to hunt down our waiter to place an order and the food took forever to arrive. Our waiter put our dessert plate directly on my husband's phone and walked away without fixing it or moving it. We ordered chicken 65 and it came in a tiny bowl. We were hungry and placed another order of the same dish. When you place an order the waiters automatically look pissed like it's extra work for them. When we got our second chicken 65, it came in a larger plate with more quantity. Why are the plates varying in size with different quantities for the same dish? The restaurant and service is horrible and I would not recommend this place to anyone or dine here again. read more

If possible would have given stars in minus. My friends and I went to this place to have dinner the ambience is good the food is great but the service is scam. Be vigilant regarding your bills. After paying the bill we got the receipt on our phone number and we saw that they had added 3 waters, we only ordered 2 and were billed for 3 and the other drink that was ordered was of 14 dollars and we were billed 18 for that. The service is scam, after talking to the staff they said they would refund us the money for the items that were incorrectly charged but they didn't, after calling and enquiring the next day they gave BS reasons only after a lil quarrel they said they would provide a refund. Usually people don't check their receipts only advice is PLS CHECK YOUR RECIEPTS THIS RESTUARENT IS SCAMMING PEOPLE. They sell water for 8 dollars let alone the expensive service charges. Not gonna visit again. read more
