As someone who grew up in South Brunswick, it's nice to have a good new option for when I visit parents. I came here with my parents for lunch, and was surprised to see the place practically completely empty when I went in. I guess it's not very popular yet, or perhaps just in a location people don't often visit? Either way, the food and service was quite good overall. I loved the laccha paratha and the butter chicken was good too. I tried a bit of the korma and palak paneer as well, all classics and all very well done. I particularly liked that the gravies were not as creamy as some other places that really overdo it. My one suggestion revolves around the big TV in the middle of the dining room. That thing plays cringey ads every 5 minutes or so, which creates an awkward atmosphere in the restaurant. You guys can afford to pay for ad-free YouTube so your guests don't have to listen to that crap lol, it should be like $10 per month. Little things like that can make people think you lack attention to detail or care for your customer experience, so just clean all that up and you will be fine because the food is good. We reordered the okra fry and as always , it tasted awesome ! Goat curry was a flop. It was more like a goat bone curry . No meat at all. Taste was also average .. chilly chicken was sweeet .. they should learn to make the desi chilly chicken. We also had malai kofta .. it was good . I had pretty high hopes for Dear Delhi given the near perfect reviews on Google & Yelp, but sadly cannot rave about it as much as others. While the food is excellent, certain facets of service & odd billing practices left a sour taste in my mouth. The restaurant which also bills itself as a bar & lounge is tucked away off a quieter section of Georges Road in Dayton, and has it's own spacious parking lot. Interior design is tastefully done, with a pleasant and welcoming main dining area, bar off to one side, and nice patio area for outdoor dining on fair weather days. The meal starts with complimentary papadum which is always appreciated and a decent way to start off a meal. The chutneys are served in very small containers which should be larger. The wait staff happily refilled them, but a larger and more generous container would have been appreciated rather than asking for refills. No drinks menu was given upon being seated, and we had to ask for their drinks menu. Once the waiter brought over the 2 pages of drinks, we noticed the menus lacked listings for beer, soft drinks, lassi, and coffee/tea. When I questioned them, they said they had them, but that then begs the question of price. For transparency purposes, they really need to put all available drink options on their menu so guests can make an informed decision based on price and what is offered. I understand it's a new business, but a definite place for improvement. We wound up ordering a beer & a mango lassi, neither of which were on their menus. The mango lassi was decent, but otherwise very ordinary in taste. For appetizers, we ordered the vegetable pakoras and chicken cashew pakoras. The vegetable pakoras (4.5/5) were all the same type, but were tasty with a special kick in flavor/spice to them. The chicken cashew pakoras (3.5/5) were ok, but nothing memorable compared to other Indian restaurants and not really any discernible cashew flavor. For meals, we ordered the moti mahal butter chicken and paneer tikka masala. The moti mahal butter chicken (4.5/5) had great tender, juicy chicken (generous in portion) in a delectable tomato gravy. Similarly, the paneer tikka masala (4.5/5) had plenty of paneer pieces mixed in with a great & perfectly spiced gravy, without any excess cream/butter that some restaurants add. The butter naan (4/5) was thin without much fluffy dough, but tasted good. Rice came with meals, but it was confusing since their menus list white rice as a $2.95 side item (best to remove it from the menu if complimentary with meals). Service (2.5/5) was friendly and the staff were trying hard, but struggled to keep up with patrons on a busy Saturday night. They didn't bother taking away the menus after we ordered and they sat on the table until we were done with our meals. There were long gaps in wait staff checking in on us and they seemed to gravitate towards larger groups of guests and some just disappeared once it got real busy. We found ourselves having to flag them down to get attention. A meal that should have lasted a little over an hour dragged on for about 2 hours. Apparently, we were initially overcharged on the paneer tikka masala as it showed $16.95 on the receipt while it was $14.95 on the printed menus. It was mentioned that $14.95 must be the older menu price by the staff, so I assume they might be raising prices already just months after opening, but they fixed it without any fuss. However, the burden of the correction shouldn't be on the customers, so I would double check that prices charged are what is reflected on the current menu. Out of curiosity, I checked their online menu on their website and it also lists paneer tikka masala as $14.95, so not sure the argument holds up that I may have received an older menu. Probably my biggest gripe is that the restaurant imposes a 3.5% credit card surcharge which doesn't seem to be disclosed anywhere online or on their menus...it just surprises you when you are presented with the check at the end of the meal. I'd rather restaurants just charge a little more up front than add a tacky credit card service charge like that. It's certainly not the norm in central New Jersey & makes me less likely to return to any business which passes on credit card charges onto their customers separately rather than figure them into their prices. Another odd issue I encountered was that I could not pay using American Express since they claimed their system was down, so wound up paying with a MasterCard I didn't really wish to use. While the food at Dear Delhi is decent, certain aspects of the business detracted from my experience. Quite frankly, I'm surprised practically none of the other reviews on Yelp to date have critiqued pricing discrepancies, the lack of a comprehensive drink menu, or the credit card service charge. Hopefully, the business corrects these things moving forward, since the chef is definitely capable of delivering when it comes to food taste & quality. read more

Ok, so I decided to try this Bhoot Jhulukia chicken kebab after reading these reviews. Wow! After the first bite I felt a shockwave go thru my body, as if I had gained some new superpowers. I was sweating every where, but at the same time i was in marvel of this extraordinary new flavor. The heat is up there for sure, but there is a complexity to the flavors that I have never experienced before. Delicious and exquisitely prepared, this is a very special dish for sure. They forgot one of our orders and was late on almost all our orders. They started bringing out our main dishes an hour after we ordered our appetizer.
