    Butter Naan

Took out from here and tried the Palak Paneer, Paneer Masala, Malai Kofta & Naan in a comparison to other local Indian spots. The paneer was incredibly soft, to the point that the pieces stuck together (see photo). The Palak & Masala were both tasty and fresh. The Malai was definitely a downfall--the dumpling was way too mushy and flavorless. Naan was okay, but too charred. Definitely not in the top places we've tried in the area.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved Rani! Nice restaurant with good service and ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have very "showy" menu items that are both tasty and fun - not to mention a great photo op! Enjoyed the popular Hariyali paneer, they serve it on a banana leaf and they torch the edges of it in order to offer a better flavor and to marinate it better. I enjoyed the service at Rani as servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and offered good suggestions, and asked me all of the right questions. Also loved the jalebi churro that was served on top of coffee malai and with sweet, fresh fruit -- sooo delicious and I wish I had saved some more room. We enjoyed all of the cocktails we tried, and there were many to choose from. I loved the gulabi rani rose drink (served with smoke!) and paan martini. Mango mojito was also a must try and great way to end the hefty meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice interior, and all of the food was presented very well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can tell that they put a lot of work and care into this restaurant![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall I would come here again, and probably ask for a spicy dish as I feel I got more of a mild taste. Pricey but a great time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really good spot for girls night/ day, date night, or a nice meal with family/ friends, especially on the more upscale side in Hamilton/Trenton area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We tried Rani last night. It's the newest Indian spot to hit the bordentown/Robbinsville/Hamilton area. First impressions were very solid. The bar and the decor are fantastic. Beautifully done. The servers and bartenders were very attentive. I sat down at the bar and within a minute someone had complimentary papadam in front of me. Drinks were tasty but quite expensive. $17 for mixed drinks. $12-$15 for a glass of wine. For dinner we were sat in the main dining room, it became quite busy which is good to see for a young restaurant. We started with two appetizers the chicken Tangri kabab and Riyasate Seekh-E-Kabab. Both very good, marinated well and very very tender. We split the goat/mutton biryani and it was fantastic. We also had the Saoji chicken which had great flavor but a bit too many bones for my taste. Additionally we tried the veggie dish: Dal Makhani which had terrific flavor. Also - the garlic naan was fantastic!!! The cost was quite high, bill was close to $200 for 3-4 drinks and 3 entrees . But it was good enough to try again even at that price.

Rani is a new fine dining Indian restaurant on the Hamilton/Robbinsville border. It takes the place of a vacant former Thai restaurant. They've removed the fountain and installed a bar and lounge area. This looks like a nice spot for a late night drink. It also would be a nice happy hour spot. I hear their cocktails and mocktails are very good. My review is based on doing take out. We ordered the Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, and Chicken dum Biryani. The Butter chicken came with the choice of a side so we picked the naan instead of rice and just made our own rice at home. All of the food was very good. I didn't specify a spice level and it was all at a spice level of zero so make sure to indicate if you want your food to have kick to it (I would have liked it spicy but wanted to see what their baseline was for my first order). The prices are a bit steep for the part of Mercer County with entrees in the mid to upper $20s. Everything is a good $10 more per entree than you'd pay at Singh's Kitchen 2 miles west down Rt. 33 - but that's people Rani is goin for an elevated experience. So if you're just doing takeout Rani might not be the best value but we enjoyed everything we ordered. With Palace of Asia on Quakerbride Road in Lawrence closing and becoming Zara's, Rani appears to be a suitable replacement for fine dining Indian food in the area.

    Jalebi Churros With Coffee Malai

Had the pleasure of visiting this new restaurant for lunch on a Monday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is beautiful, nicely decorated, the colors are vibrant and modern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fast which I expected as there were only 2 tables at this time. The food was very tasty, my friends and I really enjoyed the garlic butter and garlic cheese naan. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for the price compared to portion, a dish with 4 cheese dumplings is steep at almost $20 and the drinks (mock-tails) were just as expensive as the regular cocktails. The dessert was named Jalebi churro but in all honestly was just a churro, nothing impressive.

Rani was a fantastic dining experience conveniently close to home! The food was delicious across the board and service was friendly and attentive. Siddesh made sure our experience was fantastic from start to finish. Our table was kept clean, our waters were always full. Rani also offers a full bar with craft cocktails served with a flourish. I highly recommend and will definitely be back!

I literally said to myself as I drove around Somerville that I wish there was a wine or cocktail bar for...mature people like myself to chill at. So I looked up wine bars and boom - VintEdge was right down the street. I came in around 9pm, picked a comfy seat by the window, and ordered. Can you believe I had never had an espresso martini until that evening?? So my first was a pumpkin espresso martini. Well I may have had 2. And another drink. Ahem. The service was great, not fussy, and I wasn't rushed even as we approached last call. Visit 2: having heard about my great experience there alone, my cousin arranged to meet me there last week. Or so she thought. Through a series of mutual miscommunications, I was here at the crib waiting for her, while she was at the wine bar waiting for me. It has a rustic farmhouse feel (wood floors with wide boards, multiple fireplaces) but still comes across as more upscale than your typical tavern. The dining room has a warm atmosphere without being too loud, so you can actually have a conversation without shouting. We started with the seasonal pickle plate (beets, carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, fennel, olives) and the bread plate (three different breads with two different butters and olive oil). Both were a good way to kick things off. The pickled vegetables had a nice variety and the bread was fresh and paired well with the accompaniments. For our entrees, my wife went with the homemade pasta while I chose the Wagyu NY strip steak cooked medium rare with bourbon maple glazed root vegetables. The steak was cooked exactly as requested and had great flavor. The root vegetables added a nice sweetness that complemented the dish well. My wife really enjoyed her pasta and had enough to take some home. To finish the night, we had the mozzarella gelato (yes, you read that right - mozzarella), along with tea for my wife and coffee and Sambuca for me. The gelato was a unique dessert and a nice way to wrap up the meal. Our waitress Jemma was very friendly and attentive throughout the night without being overbearing. Overall, everything was very good. This is definitely a place we would return to, especially for a nice dinner out.

Have to say that while it appears to be an amusement park from beyond the fence with massive water slides and multiple aquamarine pools for various uses; from within it makes more sense and is actually quite attractive in a hyperactive way. Happy Hour with half price drinks was a good deal, and the bar food offerings were also well designed to complement the alcoholic drinks, if not all that tasty, nor compelling in their own right. So many people in a relatively small space around the bar, that conversation was a bit challenging. Plenty of alternative distractions among the many "beautiful" folks who enjoy being the center of attention, and know how to do it right, especially when encouraged with beverage. With music playing in the background the experience was a mixed bag. Clearly, the plan is a bit over the top, and made for people with kids or those who like this glitterati experience. Yet, there was a full house that evening, and business was booming. Covid put an end to the crowds for the last year, but I suspect the club will be back in action full tilt come vaccinations and reduced mask wearing. I'm the more cautious type, and will wait a while before accepting my next invitation.

From the moment you walk in, the restaurant makes a great first impression. The décor is beautiful and upscale, but still inviting and there are plenty of great spots for social media pictures. We started with a few lighter appetizers, but they ended up being more than enough. We shared three sets of tacos: the fish, pork, and short rib. Each order comes with two tacos, which makes them perfect for sharing and trying different flavors. The esquites were also really tasty and all paired very well. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla, which she absolutely loved. For drinks, I went with an Old Fashioned (my go to classic) while my wife ordered the "Clock It" mocktail. Both were solid choices. I also appreciated that they brought out boxed water for my daughter, which was a nice touch. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. There's also a fairly large bar right at the entrance, so you don't necessarily have to come here for a full meal. I could easily see Mezcal being a great date-night spot or a place to grab drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. There's also plenty of parking in the back, which is always a plus. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Next time, I want to try some of the main dishes. It's a higher-end restaurant, so expect the prices to reflect that, but between the food, atmosphere, service, and presentation, I thought it was well worth the experience.
