618 was the perfect spot to celebrate my mom's birthday this year. We started with the grilled flatbread -- loved the combination of mushrooms and goat cheese. I ordered the burger, which was pretty big and juicy. The fries were nice and crispy as well. For dessert, we got the banana dulce de leche gelato and ice cream cookie sandwiches. The gelato was so unique and rich. The ice cream cookie sandwiches were perfect for me and I loved the side of Nutella with nuts on top which added a nice crunch. Their commitment to hospitality beats most restaurants I've ever visited. In our reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. When we were sat at the table, a birthday card was waiting for my mom. Our waitress Bailey was so nice and accommodated my mom's request to not draw too much attention to the celebration. I've recently been mesmerized by sister property Mezcal, and haven't been back to 618 in some time. Last night we were in the area and decided to swing by for a cocktail and appetizers. Very cool that Venue 618 was the only NJ restaurant to make the recent Yelp Top 100 restaurants in the US. Sitting at the bar, we were served by Zoey, Steve, and Mike. They've re-done their cocktail menu to include beautiful color illustrations. I enjoyed "One in a Melon," a well-balanced whiskey cocktail with Frank August small batch bourbon, melon, poblano pepper, Aperol, and lime. This was followed by a tasty whiskey sour. My wife ordered a Lemon Drop martini, followed by a decadent chocolate-pistachio dessert martini. All of the cocktails were well-balanced and delicious. On the food side, I munched on a baked macaroni & cheese with chorizo. It was perfect! The Death of Hospitality brand thrives on personalization and unexpected surprises. Mixologist Steve, realizing that I'm a whiskey afficionado, surprised me with a small pour of Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel bourbon. This is a difficult bottle to find in New Jersey. Night 2 in Jersey ... the pre wedding dinner at 618... Very dope setting for an intimate event. The lighting , the decor, and the music blended perfectly. Due to the event the menu was limited .. I started the night when a Lychee Lemon (Non Alcoholic) that was very refreshing .. For my entree I got the Halibut with the Jasmine rice , sweet potato purée , and the Haricot Vert (green beans). Back track a little the sides are the stuffed mushrooms (has por , pork belly (not on my fork) , and meat balls served family style. Meatballs were very good I would get those again. As for the entree the Halibut wasn't bad but wasn't seasoned to my personal liking. As a thicker fish it could have seasoned a little heavier.. but it was very fresh. I will say it was cooked perfectly but salt was definitely added. The buttered jasmine rice was a good pair for the fish . But the star was the sweet potato's puree. I mixed them all together to make the meal very enjoyable. Oh almost forgot ... the Haricot Vert were seasoned good. If you like random additions to your meal I got grated Parmesan on top of my entire meal and it took it up a notch. Now the service was Top Tier from start to finish. I loved how they worked as a team and also had personalities. They also make recommendations throughout the night. Now the desert I got the chunky monkey brownie. And felt like I a kid in a candy store. The cookie was great along with the ice cream. And the whole time I'm like the brownie is missing lol it was under the ice cream so when I found it my excitement elevated more lol. A perfect way to end my evening. This was our first visit and most definitely not our last.... My pork chop with bacon jam n grits was to die for!! Service was great! Wait staff was very attentive. Food was good. We had the grannies meatballs for appetizers. They were good. I had the Cabernet braised beef short ribs and my husband had the short rib ravioli. Both were good and tasty but the ravioli portion could have been bigger. For dessert we both had what they called "gelato", while the taste was good, it was far from gelato, it was ice cream. All in all the food was good, service was great the atmosphere was elegant but very loud. It is definitely a drop off from their other restaurant Mezcal! Came here for a business dinner. I was surprised to see so many people on a Tuesday night outside of a meeting! The parking was a bit difficult despite there being a big lot in the back. I imagine on less busy days parking should be easier. We had a prix fixe menu from the company. I had the steak and fries. Steak was juicy, well seasoned and the fries were on the drier side, but all in all great. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner, and let me tell you - this place is worth it (a 45 minute drive for us by the way). Upon entering, you are met with such an inviting space that's somehow dark and moody but bright with flowers and lights at the same time. Food and drinks were spectacular. We had the Chorizo Mac and Cheese, Skirt Steak, and Cabernet Braised Beef - with some Lychee Martinis and 'The Bubble'. Like I said, we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and the restaurant was kind enough to have a HAND WRITTEN personalized note waiting for us at the table and the waiter even dropped off a special dessert! Now the service.. our waiters name was Daniel (Danny) M, and he was spectacular. He was very enthusiastic about the menu and walked us through which dishes were worth it. He often checked up on us and delivered great entertainment when our drinks came out. Danny made the experience very enjoyable and is one of the reasons why we would LOVE to come back here, and bring more friends to enjoy the service and menu offerings. The ONLY note that I have is that we had a reservation for 9, and we were sat maybe around 9:20 ish - which wasn't terrible but I assume it was a real busy night. For us, 618 is an "occasion restaurant". So that's where my wife and I went for my birthday. We had a 5:00 reservation on a Friday night and were sat immediately. From the cocktail menu, we got a Lychee Martini and Berry White Margarita. So good and refreshing. Entrees were Shirt Steak with shrimp and Cabernet Braised Short Rib. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. I've never had a chimichurri sauce with steak before, but it was a great pairing. My wife commented the green beans with short ribs were "like crack", couldn't stop eating them . For dessert, we shared the Warm Sticky Toffee Cake, and it was delicious! Our server was Austin, who was amazing! Great personality and knew the menu inside and out! We've been to 618 before, and know they are really sweet if you are celebrating by providing a dessert on the house with a sparkler. But I said no to the question if we're celebrating tonight not wanting the attention. Austin surprised us with an ice cream sandwich from Jersey Freeze to take home with us. After dining many times at 618, I hosted my wife's retirement dinner there last night. We had the private oak room with our own bartender to make sure there was no wait for drinks. The food was amazing. The filet mignon, halibut, and chicken Milanese all drew rave reviews from my guests. What made the night even more enjoyable was the outstanding service by June, Ro and Beverly. I got more compliments on the service than on the food. These ladies never stopped moving and made each guest feel like they were the only ones in the room at times. From the first minute guests entered until they were thanked by the ladies on their way out the door, these three ladies showed why they are an asset to your restaurant. Our waiter Brian was so charismatic and really made our night even more special. His recommendations were spot on. And we got things to eat we normally wouldn't have tried. Everything was delicious. I came to 618 Banquet with a party of four, and while the food was absolutely spectacular, unfortunately our experience with our server, James, was extremely disappointing. I work in a restaurant myself, so I completely understand that servers can be busy and have multiple tables to take care of. However, this felt like more than simply being busy. From the beginning, his mannerisms came across as passive-aggressive and unwelcoming. When taking our order, I immediately felt as though asking for anything was a burden. At one point, he practically threw a coaster down toward one of my friends, which we all found very rude and unnecessary. Throughout our entire time there, we probably saw him a total of five or six times. We ended up having to ask other waitresses and food runners for things because our actual server was nowhere to be found. Again, I understand being busy, especially because I work in the industry, but there is a difference between being busy and making your table feel uncomfortable asking you for something. When dessert came, there were four of us at the table, yet he brought only three spoons. I don't know if that's somehow protocol, but it was another small thing that added to an already off-putting experience. What bothered me the most was the birthday celebration. He came over, set the dessert down, and immediately lit the large birthday sparkler/flame without giving any of us a warning or even a moment to move back. The flame was extremely close to my friend's face, which was honestly alarming and felt very unsafe. With something that produces such a large flame, I would have expected at least a quick warning before lighting it, especially when it was positioned that close to someone's face. After lighting it, he simply said "happy birthday" with a straight face and walked away without another word. The entire interaction felt uncomfortable rather than celebratory. Overall, the food was spectacular and we really enjoyed what we ordered, so I don't want this review to take anything away from the kitchen. Unfortunately, the service really affected our experience. Coming from someone who works in the restaurant industry and understands how demanding serving can be, I was still very disappointed. I just wish we had gotten a different server because I think our experience would have been completely different. read more

Finally had dinner at 618, and the food was fantastic! I've known about 618 since I looked into them a couple of years ago as a potential wedding venue. We arrived on Saturday for an early dinner at 5:15 pm, and the restaurant and bar were already super lively. Thankfully, they offer complimentary valet parking, which is helpful since the parking lot isn't huge--especially if there's a wedding taking place in their upstairs hall space. The restaurant is very pretty and romantic inside, with rustic brick, large chandeliers, and decorative florals throughout. It would be a great date spot. We had a large booth table tucked away in a back corner, as we were a party of seven. The table was very spacious and had a lazy Susan in the center, which made sharing appetizers easy! We ordered several appetizers to start--meatballs, short rib ravioli, BBQ shrimp with grits, crab cakes, and the spuds. Everything was delicious; my favorites were the meatballs and the shrimp. For my main course, I had the pork chop, and my husband had the short rib. We both loved our entrées. The pork chop was a large portion, so I brought half of my dish home. The short rib portion was a lot smaller. Others at our table had the special snapper, the halibut, and the filet mignon. Everyone was happy with their dishes. We ended the meal with three orders of the pistachio olive oil cake--so good! My one complaint is that the drinks didn't feel very strong. There were also some service issues. Our large order of appetizers came out surprisingly quickly, as did our entrées. Unfortunately, all our silverware was cleared with the appetizers, so none of us had utensils when our entrées arrived. Also, only six of the seven main dishes came out initially, and it took several minutes before the final snapper dish was brought out. Other than that, it was a pleasant meal. Several managers were floating around the main dining floor and regularly checked in on us to make sure we were okay. I will keep 618 in mind the next time I am in the Freehold area and can get a reservation! There were several items I didn't get to try this visit that sounded interesting and yummy! read more

I had my bridal shower in the All Seasons room two weeks ago, and it was one of the best, most beautiful celebrations I have ever had. From the beginning, Jared was amazing to communicate and work with leading up to the date. He was receptive, knowledgeable, and available to answer all the questions of an anxious bride. Frankie was so helpful with executing the day and making sure all of my selections were correct, and the day ran smoothly. I chose the brunch buffet with the open bar option, and my signature drink was an espresso martini. The bartender was INCREDIBLE, and every staff member was so attentive throughout the event. The room itself was gorgeous and barely needed any extra decorating except for a few unique touches to make it my own. All of my guests, myself included, loved the food, especially the welcome display before the actual buffet brunch. I would 100% reccommend 618 for anyone planning a party or event. After reading all the great reviews, I decided to check the place out this past Thursday night. Arrived on time for our 6pm reservation and the place was packed but there were several hosts at the door who all cheerfully greeted me. I was able to check in immediately as the line for checkin quickly grew out the door. Upon entering from the vestibule, you walk into the bar. The place is very lively, perhaps a bit noisy but the bar was fully occupied with several patrons eating at the bar. I was very happy to see several bottles of Blanton's on the shelves. Dozens in fact. This whet my appetite for a cocktail. After about 5 minutes of waiting, we were seating at a table in the middle of the main diniing room adjacent to the "wine cellar". A very busy intersection but there were no other 2 tops available. During the course of the night our server as well as other servers bumped into us on several occassions. Immediately upon being seated, our server arrived and asked for our drink order. We told him we were in no hurry and we needed to peruse the menu. He came back a minute or two later with water for the table and again asked for our order. We asked for more time. He seemed put off but took the opportunity to explain the specials listed on the first page of the menu and to push the specialty vodkas as well as bragging that he has been a server for over 40 years. After a while, we summoned the server and ordered a Blanton's and an Absolute with a spalsh of grapefruit and continued to persue the menu and wine list. Our server suggested to try the Beluga Gold in place of the Absolute. My friend agreed but I think the server should have told him it was $26 a shot since he was making the suggested substitution. There is something for everyone on the menu. The wine list was pretty thin but adequate. No real deals or value on the wines. We decided to split a flatbread and the burrata for appetizer. My friend has a vegan entre and I had the bronzino. We ordered a bottle of Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc. While waiting for our appetizers, we could not help but notice the great vibe of this place. Many tables of friends engaged in lively discussion as well as a few tables of families with very well behaved small children. People watching at times distracted our conversations. This is a great place for gathering either at the bar or celebrating in the dining room, but IMHO not the kind of place for that special meal or romantic date. After ordering our meals, bread and butter (no EVOO?) was brought to the table and in a short time, the appetizers arrived. The flatbread was awesome. Actually, we could have split that for appetizer or one person could have had for an entry. Flavorful and generous portion. We were not done with the appetizers when the entrees arrived. Not cool. Again, I felt we were being rushed even though we explained a few times that we were NOT in a rush. Regardless, the bronzino was flavorful and the vegan dish Im told was "nothing special" but enjoyable. After finishing our entrees, I inquired about after dinner drinks. e.g. Cognac, Armagnac, etc. Server said he wasnt knowlegable and he didnt offer to investigate. So we passed on dessert and asked for the check. I would go back, but I would insist on a different server and if possible, a better table location. Perhaps even consider eating at the bar. I also think $29 for a Blanton's is a bit steep but I was happy to enjoy the glass as I have not had one in a while. If you are going to eat at the bar, go early. By 6pm the bar was full. If eating in the dining room, reservations are a must and perhaps ask for a table against a wall and out of the main traffic lanes. read more
