I was expecting a lot more from this place, heard about this restaurant and was always on my list to try. Not impressed. Linguini w/ white clam came out a bit cold and bland. The steak also was on the cold side. If you serve steak at this price range, make sure it's kept hot. Service was great! It was a weeknight so it wasn't really packed.

Hubby and I were on 11/6/25. stopped in for dinner since it is walking distance from the Count Basie to our car, and I have been wanting to eat here for ages and i was very hungry. We were last ones in for dinner since the kitchen was closing- but we quickly ordered our food so the kitchen could head home. Bresaola w/fresh Burrata drizzled with Pesto- absolutely delicious I highly recommend this, it was perfect as a starter and my husband and I loved it. For my main, Calamari Marinara sautéed in the marinara, I had a choice of it served over hot or sweet linguine, I chose hot. Absolutely fantastic the calamari was tender and not over done, perfect bites with the macaroni, it was huge! and I had plenty for lunch the next day. Hubby ordered the Lobster Ravioli and it was served with shrimp & scallop in a tomato blush sauce. Ravioli was large, delicate and stuffed full, and it was quite a large serving as well, in fact he had enough for lunch the next day, and was very happy about that. Honestly, for such late service and with the kitchen closing, they did not rush the food service, they didn't skimp or push out sub par meals, everything was as if we were a 7p dinner service, but at 10p. I really want to come here on a night that we are not, ourselves rushed for work at 5a the next day, but honestly, if this is any indication and reflection of the staff and service they regularly have during traditional meal service, then to me.. they shined brightly as could be. I commented to my husband I would love to come back for our 27th Anniversary (coming up) and he smiled and said, maybe sooner.. and he rarely says that about any restaurant and we have been together over 35, so that says a lot. With Wine and dinner, it was a little over $100.+ he never lets me see the bill but I think it was definitely a reasonable dinner for two. Yes I took photos and yes I am posting them. I forgot our servers name, but she is a gem and I would love to have her again, she was fun, welcoming and didn't make us feel rushed or that we were bothering them in the way for coming in so late-- and that is very hard to find staff that are as welcoming as the staff here is. So I am sorry I forgot your name, but thank you for making our evening out so enjoyable.

It was my first time, its very striking exterior caught my attention, the interior is very classic and rustic, the open kitchen concept caught my attention a lot, the waiter Antonio was fine, the service was constant. I don't have any bad comments about the service. Speaking of the food I was very surprised the truth both main dishes were spectacular with the appetiser I only have one complaint I have tried better Bruschetta that was terrible the tomato was not pomodoro. Desert was good

We enjoy the food very crowed on weekends but still delisioso!! Chicken Milanese done to perfection. The only thing I didn't like was the rosé sangria was very sweet.

Superb Italian, great service, and generous portions. The octopus appetizer was cooked to perfection, but the highlight was the gnocchi bolognese -- big chunks of meat (not some soupy paste) and hearty red sauce with gnocchi that were borderline fluffy (don't know if you can call good gnocchi fluffy, but they didn't sit heavy at all). Great meal with friends and an excellent start to 2026. I was able to finish about half of the portion -- and enjoyed the rest over the weekend

The ambiance is old school, Italian, dark lighting, good music (live music during dinner - maybe even get up and sing along!). The menu is extensive and they make each plate to order, so those that have allergies can communicate that when ordering and the kitchen will take care of you. I enjoyed a cosmo and gluten free penne vodka with grilled chicken and it was amazing. A huge portion! The server was extremely nice, fun, and professional.

We had an outstanding celebration at this res!!The atmosphere was inviting! The crater salad and chicken parm were fantastic. Chocolate lava cake and lemon sorbet were so good! Service staff were excellent!! We will define back!!Great job ...

Eggplant parm - not spicy even though supposed to be spicy rigatoni with it. Huge portion. Took half home. Pasta was delicious with enough sauce and al denté as I like 4. Chocolate torte - deliciously creamy and lighter than I thought. Full chocolate flavor. Comes with a fior di latte gelato which was high quality. Overall an excellent high quality Italian dinner. No wonder why it's hard to get weekend reservations. Highly recommended and will definitely be back when in Red Bank and craving Italian.

There is a parking lot across the street you can park at so no need to worry about street parking. The first thing I noticed was that this location was much smaller than the New Brunswick location and had a more chill vibe. I thought the happy hour menu had less selection as well. I was low-key disappointed there were no clams or oysters on the menu considering we are much closer to the shoreline. My husband loved his smashburger, it was very juicy. He also enjoyed the sweet potato fries which he normally doesn't like. My wings have the perfect amount of sauce where it didn't drown the wing and it was still a big crispy. It's certainly not ethical!) We were charged approx TWICE as much for the Website listed 'Special' tacos! They certainly were special-E'special'ly expensive! We asked to speak with the manager who indicated that she didn't even know that this 'Special' was still on their website. At that point (and in good faith), she should have offered us something as compensation! When told that they do not carry a common beverage-BLUE MOON, the waitress suggested giving me a similar beer and offered a 'taste test'. I could not tell if I liked the sample cause the shot glass had SO LITTLE beer in it-offering me NO TASTE at all. We also ordered chips, plantains, and salsa as an appetizer. For the cost of $14.00, I assumed it would contain enough chips for three people and might even be an unlimited supply. There were approx 15 chips on the plate and 6 plantains-which were tasteless. But think about it!? 15 taco chips for three people to the tune of $14.00?! They should be embarrassed! By 7:30, this restaurant was almost empty. We have been there several times over the years, but this place has deteriorated, in many ways, and we will no longer patronize this establishment!

The halibut caught my eye immediately; I'm a sucker for a perfectly prepared piece of halibut or a great pork chop, and since my partner doesn't eat meat it made for an easy share. Earlier in the day, a couple of women at our hotel bar mentioned the chef had trained at Jean-Georges in Manhattan, which only added to our anticipation. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel after dinner and did a little reading that we learned just how decorated Harary really is; his Restaurant Nicholas held Zagat's top spot in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years and earned a 4-star New York Times review. That context made our middling meal sting just a little more. We started with the bread service and the beet salad. The bread itself was baked beautifully, but the butter and ricotta accompanying it were completely flavorless. My partner and I are not salt-at-the-table people; we trust that seasoning happened in the kitchen. This was the first time in recent memory that we actually reached for the salt shaker. Not a great sign. The beet salad should have been a showstopper. Beets, when done right, can carry an entire dish on their own. Instead, they were buried under an avalanche of arugula. Don't get me wrong, arugula is one of my favorite greens; that peppery bite and beautiful texture are hard to beat, but here it was doing all the heavy lifting while the beets sat underneath doing nothing. We'd eaten most of the salad before we even noticed the sunflower seeds and a smear of mascarpone hiding on the bottom of the bowl. That mascarpone, gently flaked on top with the seeds scattered over it to catch in the folds, could have made this dish genuinely memorable. The gorgeous candy-striped radishes were a lovely visual touch, but they were raw, undressed slices with no seasoning, no acid, no pickling. Beautiful to look at; an afterthought to eat. The whole salad felt that way, honestly. For our main, we shared the Panko Crusted Halibut with bok choy and smoked shallot velouté. The sauce was the star; the smoke level was dialed in perfectly, present in all the right ways without overpowering everything else. The wild mushrooms were lovely, but the dish needed something to break up the texture. The bok choy brought good flavor, but it mirrored the mushrooms so closely that each bite started to blur together. Something crispy, something sharp, would have elevated the whole thing considerably. The fish itself was cooked well; firm, flakey, and not dried out. The panko crust was gorgeous to look at but could have been crispier. Based on its beautiful golden color, it looked like it had more crunch than it actually delivered. The cocktails were a genuine highlight. An old fashioned made with 1792 and a Black Manhattan, both well-crafted and the clearest bright spots of the evening. The three people behind the bar were another highlight. Expedient, attentive, never rushing anyone, and willing to make easy conversation without being intrusive. That is exactly what you want from people working a good bar. The ambiance, though, was confusing. The space seemed to pull in two directions at once; it wanted to feel upscale but also like a sports bar, and it never fully committed to either. Three small TVs tucked into the corners would have been fine. The oversized screen mounted prominently on the wall was intrusive and clashed hard with any sense of elevated dining. The music was classic rock, which I enjoy, but it read as wrong for the room and was a tad too loud. The music for this type of setting should be something to just add some ambiance, not for people to shout-sing too like you've had too many beers at a dive karaoke bar, which I love by the way, this was just not that kind of place. Those same women from the hotel bar had also warned us it could get loud and obnoxious in there. We figured we'd take our chances. We probably should have listened. With the legacy behind this place, the potential is clearly there. The bar staff gets it. Now the kitchen and the room just need to catch up.

We arrived and were seated quickly- our table was nice and in a comfortable location. Our server came over promptly and asked if we would like a drink. The room is dimly lit, which was fine for me- but tough for my father (who is in his 70's). They did not have chocolate milk but we were offered hot chocolate instead- which I thought was an odd alternative. It was a limited holiday menu, and each entree had a price next to it. For example- the penne vodka was $59.99, chicken parm was $69.99 and steak was $79.99. It was not explained to us that we also would choose an appetizer and some form of dessert would be provided at that price. I had to ask the server and she finally confirmed what I thought was the arrangement. I did expect higher prices due to the holiday, and would have no issue paying those prices if the food and service were both fantastic. We were brought a basket of bread with no butter and no oil. I had to flag someone down after 10 minutes for butter. We received our sub par appetizers quickly (mine was Mozzarella en Corozza- but it was a grilled cheese ... and not a good one- very bland). The appetizer choices were okay, but my husband's "Mozzarella di Buffao" was literally 3 slices of tomato and 3 small pieces of cheese. No exaggeration. We waited 30 minutes for our entrees after our appetizer plates were cleared. 30 minutes. AND they never brought my elderly father's Chicken Marsala. He waited while we all sat with our plates. I think his dinner came out 20 minutes later. We were never offered any courtesy (complementary side dish or ANYTHING) for his dinner never being delivered. We had to ask 3 times for it until the issue seemed urgent. We were never offered grated cheese or pepper for our entrees. I normally wouldn't complain about that, but when you are paying over $500 for dinner, these things matter. The wait staff was less than accommodating. The only people who seemed like they cared were the busboys. The steak was the only entree that was raved about. My chicken parmesan was not good. The chicken itself was over seasoned with rosemary. The sauce was completely flavorless... almost like they just dumped a can of plain sauce on top of the chicken and pasta. My son ordered penne vodka, which was also bland. It was a very small portion for such an expensive price. After being at dinner for over 2 hours, and ignored for most of that time, my 8 year old was getting antsy. My husband asked if it was possible to take our desserts (which were included in the outlandish price), to go. Our server suggested we ask the food runners to pack them up when they bring the food out, but then flippantly said "I'll just do it". We weren't asked what our choices for dessert were- they just threw little pieces of a few things in a to go container. We didn't even care at that point and wanted to just leave. We asked for the check- which took forever since nobody was glancing in our direction. I immediately put my credit card into the check folder and stood it up on the table so it would be easily seen. I waited. I sent my family outside to get into the car.... and still waited. Finally 10 minutes later, another staff member pointed out to our server that I was ready to pay. She came over to me and said "I will bring this to the hostess for you". Is this a diner? Was I expected to bring my check to the hostess stand? I was confused. She acted like I was an inconvenience. I just got up and walked to the hostess stand to sign the credit card slip. Gratuity was included. $82.00 of gratuity which was not at all deserved. I understand it was a holiday and things happen. I understand a lot of that is beyond the control of the server. Being ignored, spoken to like you are an inconvenience, not being offered pepper or grated cheese - are not. I worked in the service industry for many years and I found that most of our experience at this restaurant was unacceptable. I will not be back.

It was my hubby's birthday and I felt lucky to find a restaurant open on a Monday after the snow…read morestorm. Even better it's adjacent to a paid parking garage so we were steps away from the restaurant on such a freezing cold night. The waitress was helpful because all the appetizers sounded so good. We went with her eggplant suggestion. I could've had that as a meal. I can be quite picky about the bread on a table, but this was delicious. It was warm with a nice crust with olives and Evo. I ordered the Pappardelle bolognese it came with a dollop of mascarpone. So good and hardy I couldn't finish it all. Hubby ordered the shrimp Fra Diavilo with pasta. The spice was just the way he likes it. For dessert it was an easy decision, tartufo is always a win! Of course, what is a Birthday without the staff coming out to sing. To top it off on Mondays it's half price pizza and pasta!

We had reservation unfortunately we were set on the outside patio…read more in the beginning it was nice and warm but there was a hell of a draft! I went with four girl friends so we ordered 3 appetizers for the table then dinner. we ordered the stuffed artichoke the mozzarella corraza and the truffle fries. The Mozzerella was terrible very dry and over fried. we changed it for the eggplant appetizer. Then dinner came out 3 lot of 5 dishes were dry sauce with penne ala vodka sauce with chicken was bone dry one girlfriend got the pasta and broccoli rabe there was no sauce whatsoever. My other girlfriend got chicken franchise again bone dry. I am not sure what the chef was thinking, but obviously something was wrong. I'd give it two out a five stars. I don't mind paying high prices for food, but obviously this place was a swing in a miss.
