I had such an unpleasant experience on Saturday night that I decided I had to write a review so supervisors would see this as well as other people. My boyfriend and I went to Decades that night with a coworker of mine and his girlfriend, both of Spanish decent. We arrived around 11:30PM and put our names down for bowling, then went up and sat down at the bar. The girlfriend of my coworker jokingly asked if the oranges that were in a bowl on the bar were free and the bartender said no. Directly following this interaction, he moves the oranges off of the bar and out of reach to behind the bar. Now this made me mad because I felt if someone white would have made that joke it would have been brushed off completely but no, this man physically picked up the oranges and moved them out of arms reach. Now when I addressed this as it was happening, the bartender denied it had anything to do with that and he was simply cleaning up but it was DIRECTLY after the interaction and the oranges were fine there two minutes prior. THEN we finally receive a text that a lane is available for us at 12:06AM. Now we were aware they closed at 1AM but figured we could get a game in. So we are having a good time bowling, this being my buddy and girlfriend's first time at Decades, and the bar slowly clears out until we are the last people there. At 1:01AM the staff shut off our games and turned off all of the lights in the bowling area. We had two frames left. No one spoke to us, no warning, just everything was shut off and I checked my phone and it was 1:01. Then some little girl came over and asked if I was going to pay for the bowling. Um yes, I planned to pay for bowling, I just didn't realize the time and they didn't even warn us hey, we are closing soon and your game will be turned off, just shut everything off on us and left us in the dark. Overall, this was a horrible experience. I prefer not to believe that it was the company I was with, but my boyfriend and I have been there twice now and I have never been treated with such blatant disrespect. Makes me question the morale of their staff and question if I ever want to give a company like that my business again. read more

Service was excellent from reception area to our server and host. We dined in and tried an assortment of appetizers. Crab dip pretzel was excellent as was the grilled cheese charcuterie! Afterwards, we got to enjoy the games and skee ball! So much fun. Decor is great and the bathrooms are clean! Loved our first time experience here. Great location. Great decor. However it is loud and everything echos because of the open concept. Food was good but not fabulous. Large portions which match the price you pay with it. Limited menu but good. We have the Grilled cheese chaurturie and the cornbread which these two items alone could have have feed 10 and they were starters. That being said,they could have been counted as full meals instead. The grilled cheese cheese had way too much bread. We ended up asking for take out boxes for the apps. The wings were large but barely any flavor. The pimento burger was good. But slightly cooler then hoped for. Overall, they should keep tweaking the menu restaurant side of things and they will improve from a good to a really good. The games were nostalgic. But not enough games for the volume of people. this review is STRICTLY related to retro gaming. for purists and hardcore arcade enthusiasts, Decades misses the mark. respectfully, most of the cabs have been rebuilt with new decals, wood, and often the joystick section---all new. ok, so, not great (i.e. they didnt spend cash to source original parts, etc). but i couldnt stop being bothered by the poor monitor replacements and lack of attention to aspect ratio. many of their cabs clearly have a modern flat panel inside, and then even worse, the game images arent scaled correctly. will younger people or casuals notice? probably not. but for a true arcade nut....this is a "pass" for me. it feels like a step above a Mame cabinet destination, but not worth your time if you're into actual arcade preservation. i understand "why" they did it this way--but it feels like buying a classic car and then just wanting to drive it, not preserve the original look or feel. read more

I used to live across the street from here. I'm giving them 2 stars because it's a cool atmosphere, is always clean and their staff is friendly. My husband and I have gone 4 times because we REALLY wanted to like it but the only decent thing on their menu is the wings. Drinks are really pricy for what you're getting. They used to have a pretty good creme brûlée but they took that off the menu. The bowling is insanely expensive and if you go on the weekend you will definitely not be able to find a place to sit. I recommend going to play some old school arcade games but then leaving for your food and drinks! read more

Even I found out an "arcade" opened up I was interested since the only one close was it in Hanover at the time. There was 3 of us that day around mother's day. They have bowling but it's only about 4 lanes, its expensive for an hour and you are a loud 6 people a lane. Theres a long bar beat the games which theres only a few, so when it's busy you can't play anything. There were quite a few kids roaming around even though it seemed like an upscale place. Tonight I tried the vegan hot chicken sandwich and thier mac and cheese. It was outstanding. Sandwich had just enough heat, I do not think food should hurt but the heat was there. The sandwich was huge, I got 2 big peices of vegan chicken, one will be lunch tomorrow. Great mix of pickles and sauce on the sandwich. Mac and cheese was creamy and serving size was big, again some is still in the fridge. My partner got a cheese steak and the fall salad. He raved about the salad and the home made chips. We had a "couples" baby shower for my daughter and son-in-law at Decades. What a great group of people to work with! They are helpful, accomodating and very attentive. It was a great success! I had a great experience at Decades. As a vegan I appreciate that they have several options on the menu to accommodate me. The food exceeded my expectations. I had a question about one of the menu items and my server went back to the kitchen and spoke to the chef and came out with a response that showed me they understood dietary restrictions and took them seriously. It's never easy opening a new restaurant. It's even harder when you have a bowling alley and video games too! Decades is making it happen. The beer list is great and they may have the best wine options available at a "bowling alley!" The menu isn't large but there are a ton of snacks. As Decades matures and comes into its own, I can only envision things getting better and better. I am excited for the next visit! Oh, it is also conveniently located right next to a parking garage, so don't worry if you aren't fond of parking in the city! Call ahead for reservations and to ask about their specials. I have been waiting for a spot like this to open up in Lancaster and Decades did not disappoint. We were a group of 13 and the staff was super accommodating. Even on St. Paddy's day, we were seated in 15-20 minutes. There are a few bars, an awesome arcade (Hoops, Skeeball, Pac-Man, pinball, etc!), 8 lanes of bowling and a full sit down restaurant. It's a huge space and was very thoughtfully done- we were impressed with how great it looked and how well the bowling area was sound proofed! My group seemed happy with their food overall. I split the wings with my husband (delicious) and had the crispy eggplant with cauliflower rice (pictured) which I enjoyed- there was definitely more cauliflower rice than eggplant, FYI. Also tried the dessert flight and cap'n crunch ice cream- so good! Our bill was reasonable and we had a blast in the arcade for a couple of bucks. Good food and daring menu, while I wasn't crazy about the entree selection initially I would definitely recommend trying each one to sample the unique flair that Decades have created. The shrimp and grits I had would definitely not have been my first choice but I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and presentation. The crab dip pretzel was excellent and it's awesome to see a restaurant get crap dip right for once. Using Gouda as a topping was an excellent idea and I'm slightly jealous that I never thought of it when making my own. The only food that seemed to be lacking was the desert. While the presentation was also excellent I wasn't crazy about the flavor of the banana pudding/seasonal fruit trifle or fluffernutter pie I'll definitely be trying something else the next time I return. The service was great, every staff member that we interacted with greeted us with a smile though it was obvious that they were absolutely exhausted from the weekend St. Patrick's Day customer traffic. The noise from the bowling lanes that are right next to the dining area is slightly obnoxious, perhaps with some acoustical sound absorption products this could be minimized. I'd love to be able to get away from the noise and relax after bowling or gaming.
