Their burgers remind me of in N out meets shake shack! Patty quality is top notch, slightly thin similar to Shack burger. The style of the burger however feels fresh like In N Out! I usually order a single patty burger but given the patties are thin, I recommend a double patty instead. Got a side of curly fries and they were really fresh too. Overall definitely one of the freshest tasting yummy burger I've had in the DMV area! I'd recommend!! I don't think anything compares to in-n-out when you're from the West Coast, but this def comes to a close second. The taste of the beef is super fresh. Unfortunately we came when they were doing some renovations and we had to order from the food stand parked on the sidewalk. So atmosphere was ehhh. The servers didn't really have a lot of customer service, they didn't smile at all or greet which that could always be polished a bit, but the food was decent. First timer last week and this is what local Lancaster eats needs to be. No hipster amenities, no pretenses, this is just a local shop that is obviously a big hit with those that know the owner and their desire to serve good food and surprisingly low prices. I saw one old review online that called place a great hipster establishment with great smash burgers... I'm hoping someday we just go back to plain English, without all the marketing garbage designed to bring in certain age groups. How about a place that's local, quaint, friendly, affordable that serves fantastic food. I read up about the tandoori chicken from past reviews - looks like we were too late that day, so I switched up to the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich with Onion rings. My wife - Hamburger and fries. (This is where we reduce what, 1-2 stars cause they didn't have what I really wanted? toughen up buttercup, life happens... This isn't Outback. Here's our complete and total foodie review - with all the buzz words. Freaking awesome food. That's it... the entire review. I'm not gonna go over their slaw and the mix of pickle to mustard aioli, nor are we gonna talk about the breading on the chicken that its 1/32" of an inch too much... (reduce 2 more stars here for some). This is a local shop, run by friendly folks and while we were there, they were balancing about 19 takeout orders along with the continual walk in traffic... Popular indeed. So - bottom line - Give Route66 a try... but please, just leave an honest review, nobody cares about the mouth feel of the quad burger against the backdrop of a diet coke... This place has become one of my absolute all time favorite eats in all of Lancaster city, and all of PA for that matter. This was our second visit and after another successful and delicious visit, I had to pay my dues and give them the credit they deserve. Was able to snag some indoor seating with the wife for lunch after an appointment. The Tandori Chicken Cheesesteak is absolutely incredible, great taste and spice. The Cheese Curds were also very good, enjoyed them with the complimentary Marinara Sauce. My wife also enjoyed the El Dorado Chicken Cheesesteak and the phenomenal onion rings (thick, large, and crispy). This place has yet to fail me and probably never will. Small place that has some outstanding food ! Very friendly service! First time checking this place out. Stopped in after the fly fishing expo so needed a good spot to eat. Only a few tables inside to get there early ! Grab a table , order at the counter and they will call your order number when they have your order ready. Located on a corner on a random street in Lancaster, this is a place not to pass up on. It's delicious, quiet and clean inside. The interior decor is very vintage vibes :) Immediately when you come in you are acknowledged and there's a menu right on the counter. We ordered a single and double cheeseburger with French fries. We sat down and got our food within 10 minutes (maybe less). I think it's a father and son running it, they were very efficient. The food was delicious I prefer here over a place like Shake Shack. It's like the classic smash burger and is super flavorful. Overall, I give it a 5/5. Not a bad burger but probably no need to go out of the way in my opinion to visit. We ordered the cheese burgers along with curly fries and a cheesesteak. My mistake with ordering the cheesesteak at a burger joint since the cheese was not a melty cheese whiz but rather a few thin slices of American cheese that did no justice to the roll. The best part of the meal was the mozarella sticks because of how massive and melty they were. Yet another gem in Lancaster. I saw on the local newspaper that they had the best burgers. Lancaster has some good burgers so I got curious... I think they have the best classic diner level burgers. It's just three perfect balance of a smashed patty to everything else. This would not qualify as a fancy burger but dang... They do it right. Just a classic, honest burger. They also have cheese steaks and other classics which I had to try. The cheese steak is above average in my opinion. Not Johns roast pork level (iykyk) but most definitely better than places like pats and Geno's. I'm curious to try some other things. They have things like tandoori and falafel burgers which looks really good. The seating is first come first serve and if you come in a busy time, it'll be hard you get a seat so just know it can get busy. Rare find for halal fast food! Burgers are delicious, the Nashville fried chicken is spicy (just like we love it), and the loaded fries are quite a treat. Would not recommend the cheesesteak since it's rather dry (would suggest more cheese) but everything else has always been good and you can tell how popular the place is from the rush of takeout orders. As others have said, the place is rather small, with classic vibes and lots of Route 66 memorabilia, but there are a few tables for dine in too. Route 66 has one of the best, if not the best chicken sandwiches in all of Lancaster. Every meal I have had from here has been memorably delicious. Their Coleslaw, burgers, cheesesteaks, all of it seasoned very well. Their prices are fair, the bread and rolls are fresh and the food is served hot. Their milkshakes are also very, very good, and better than most places in town, fast food and otherwise. I also really like the happy surprise of some eastern & middle eastern offerings on the menu alongside Nashville hot chicken. I give this place a 9.5 out of 10. It would be a 10 but the place could use some tidying up. The walls and floors need a thorough cleaning. I get there might be youth coming in or it gets pretty busy, but in that area they could do better. The stars are a testament to the goodness of the food. Otherwise it's one of the must stop places if you're visiting Lancaster, and a fan favorite for locals. read more

There's no question that this place is popular. We arrived at about 6:30pm on a Saturday nigh (about 30 minutes before they closed) and there was a huge line with every seat in the joint taken. I can understand why because the burgers were really tasty, with all the fixings available (tomato, pickles, Route 66 sauce, onions, lettuce, cheese). It reminded me of In n Out from the West Coast. We ordered the family pack (6 cheeseburgers for $18) and it was just the right amount for me and my 2 kids (maybe even a tiny bit too much). My one knock for this place is that the bathroom was pretty dirty - the soap bottle was empty and broken and the floor was wet.
