I've experienced this concept a lot but this place does it far better than most. For one, every machine appears to be working. They all FEEL clean. Bowling rules. That's just a fact. Great central location. Our server was very friendly and helpful. It's a good value for playing games and you can order with your server or bartender. Very good beer selection and even some delish vegan nuggets. Sriracha curds were real good. Only downside is it was super packed on Saturday so we wound up leaving and just coming back Sunday evening which was a much better vibe. I waited a few weeks after eating there to write this, but here we go. We were celebrating a friend's 50th birthday, and as mostly kids of the. 80s/90s a retro arcade was the perfect way to do it! We showed up, got seated and then the problems started. The waiter showed up and was immediately annoyed at us. Not sure what happened prior to our arrival, or if we were the set off, but he immediately didn't want to deal with us. Some of our group was asking questions about drinks/food and every thing just seemed to annoy him. We ordered our food , drinks and then just sat and waited for our food. It was a decent sized party, 8 of us, and other than asking for a chicken sandwich to be cut in half (we ordered a giant salad and a sandwich to share), the orders were right off the menu, no subs, no crazy asks... just off the menu. The food began arriving and it was OK. The salad was really good. The sandwich was OK. Everyone's fries were either lukewarm or room temperature. The food was just very mid. Between that and the waiter who made us feel like anything happening was a supreme annoyance to him, it wasnt the best experience. I had to leave after dinner, but the rest of our group stayed and played the games and said it was an amazing time. If this place was just an arcade that had an order window for food, this would have been an awesome experience. The fact that they offer a full menu of cocktails and "foodie" items means that they also need to offer service to match. Overall a really nice place with an awesome arcade (most games are one token!), and the food looked like it could be good but they need to figure timing out and make sure service matches what they are offering. Everyone knows Decades is an incredible place. They opened up their ice cream bar and patio! Such an awesome vibe with cornhole, plenty of seating, and even a walk up counter! The ice cream "bartenders" if thats what you call them are very nice and are working fast! Our ice cream was out in minutes! Food was the fare you might expect for a video arcade and bowling alley -- fatty fried stuff, but all of it was good. The pretzel bites were more like donuts, which our kids did not mind at all! I loved my drinks and the food was perfect. Our server got more and more friendly as the night went on, which got weird. He heard us discussing our karaoke plans for a different bar and he suggested a different one...stating he once worked there...and that he often goes there after work. This place really needs two reviews: 1. The food and service - 2 stars. Our waiter was inattentive and just wanted us out of there. The fried chicken sandwich bun was soggy (because they but the wet stuff on the bottom), the fries were undercooked and under seasoned and nothing was hot or even warm. 2. The games were awesome! 5 stars. Tokens are cheap, and most games only need 1 token. The building is large enough to accommodate a lot of games without it feeling crowded. Came here with my husband and a friend after seeing a Facebook reel, and I'm so glad we did! I was immediately impressed with the décor and layout--very well done, with a classy, upscale vibe. It's nothing like a Dave & Buster's or Chuck E. Cheese; this place feels more refined and thoughtfully designed. We played a round or two of bowling, which was a lot of fun. We were even waited on while bowling, which made it extra enjoyable. Drinks and food were brought right to us, so we could relax and enjoy our time together. After bowling, we explored the arcade, and it did not disappoint--lots of variety and a great atmosphere. The bar also looked fantastic, and you can tell they have some quality selections behind the counter. I went there with my two sons, ages 10 and 13, and I tell you, I haven't seen such unfiltered happiness since a dog I once knew found a ham sandwich in the snow. The boys were entranced. Enthralled. Beside themselves with glee. They stepped into that warm arcade glow and it was as though they had been granted access to a secret dimension of the past: the 1980s and 90s. A place where Mario still jumped with conviction and Donkey Kong still threw barrels like it meant something. Each game cost only 25 o 50 cents to play which might as well have been free. In a world where everything costs too much, Decades still believes in small joys at small prices. We didn't bowl but the six-lane alley looked like something out of a dream someone might have after watching The Big Lebowski and drinking a cream soda. The bar shimmered with potential and mystery. It gave off a low murmur of adult coolness that I imagine becomes even more potent after 8:30 PM when the young are banished and the grownups inherit the Earth for a few hours. We left around 7:30. THe kids had milkshakes of the mind. Their hands smelled of tokens and their hearts were full. I didn't hear a single argument. I didn't say no to anything. No one cried. That's as close to Eden as a parent gets. Parking was a breeze next door at the Queen Street garage. It cost next to nothing and didn't require any sort of blood oath or ritual sacrifice. Popped in on a Sunday afternoon to check this place out and catch some of the Eagles game. The space is amazing and provides a great atmosphere. Being a Sunday afternoon it was packed with kids running everywhere, which was fine, but just be warned, that I get the feeling this is the norm. Decades is the COOLEST! It's like a mom and pop version of Dave and Busters but is a million times cooler and felt like an authentic gaming place. My family and I sincerely enjoyed the vegan BBQ wings and pretzel bites, even reheated some the next day and it was totally delicious! Extremely fun drink selection, extremely fun game selection. We played the Simpson's game and got the furthest we ever got in our lives. I come to Lancaster twice a year and this spot is now on my itinerary every time I come. My friend and I took our kids here on Saturday and we had a blast! The food was great, the service was friendly and the games were plentiful. We all loved playing the retro games like Burger Time, Nintendo 64 games, Mortal Kombat 3 and The Simpsons just to name a few. The bartender made one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had and the price wasn't bad at all. Such a fun place with a laid back vibe. Food: ordered wings, a cheeseburger, and pretzel bites. Wings: came out rubbery, lukewarm, and chewy. Waitress tried to tell me that they brine them and some veins still remain. These were cold and chewy. Burger was supposed to be pink in the middle and was definitely NOT. Pretzels bites were good though. Service: The hostess that greeted us was very friendly and helpful. Our server was very friendly, but tried to make an excuse for the cold, chewy wings. However, she did a good job of getting us drinks and was nice. Ambiance: This place is pretty cool. Bowling was really fun and they have lots of retro video games. Definitely reasonably priced as well. We enjoyed the atmosphere, just not the food so much. Ps: they did refry wings for me and they were much better cooked../some of them. However, still not great wings. The creamy garlic parm sauce was average at best...seemed like they just dumped a premade bottled sauce all over the wings. For being on the PA Wing tour...kind of disappointed. This place is incredible! We spent a long weekend in Lancaster during a cold, snowy night. And our kids did not want to leave. This is a place where parents and kids can all have fun. First, if you're a fan of Netflix's "House of Cards" be sure to check out the sign that shows all of the set pieces that the owners obtained and incorporated into the interior. For example, the fireplace and mantle were a regular set piece, and my family was playing video games right in front of it. How unique is that? We ordered a wide range of food, with the chicken parm sandwich as the real stand out. But honestly, all of the food was great. There is a bowling alley inside, arcade games, skee-ball (my personal fave) and a Nintendo 64 where you can rent out games for free. This was perfect for our 4 year old kids. For the adults, they have a full bar with an extensive beer list along with wines and cocktails. On this cold PA day, we loved enjoyed a hot toddy as we relaxed inside as the snow piled up. I took my neighbor, who was turning 11, to Decades for her birthday. We picked a Wednesday so we bowled for $5 each with an hour time slot which allowed us to play 2 games. They have bumpers for anyone wanting them. She enjoyed that and then we played some arcade games. The staff at the front desk were VERY kind and welcoming. We ordered some of the Happy Hour specials-mozzarella and a pork taco. I enjoyed the fried mozzarella more than the taco, but for $2 I am not complaining about a taco. What an awesome idea , this place is filled with games of all kinds including arcades, bowling , ski ball etc. it's a fun place with plenty of things to do. What I don't understand is why everyone is so rude and disrespectful? All of the works were so unpleasant, I never encountered anything like this before . We were there on a Thursday night and everyone acted like they were sick of working there and sick of having customers. Food surpassed expectations, we tried fried gnocchi, truffle fries and wings. The fried gnocchi was great and crispy on the outside, the truffle fries were fantastic, the wings were good but didn't like the Thai chili flavor , the honey bourbon bbq was pretty good but overall wings could've been more crispy. They also had a great beer selection and I enjoyed the Cupid arrow sour beer . What a disappointment. There for my sons girlfriends 21st birthday party. At 8:29 on a Wednesday they kick us out. We're upstairs with responsible adults. Big man, " doogie houser" security tells us to leave as it's 21 and older only. We're trying to finish our food and drinks. He abruptly interrupts us again and tells us we have to leave and is rude. The place was practically empty and we're having a family celebration and yet their policy was enforced to the exact minute. in my opinion, there's a reason why this place was empty. I had to go through 4 different people to get a bowling lane, 2 people for food and drinks, and more people to get tokens cuz the machine was out. Vintage games, great food, bowing and drinks! Let's go! Stopped in with a large family group (young kids to grandparents) on a Saturday afternoon. Very cool use of an old space but more on that later. We sat at a long table and even though they don't take reservations, they were very accommodating. Staff was friendly, attentive and personable, great service goes a long way in my book. The menu was satisfying and the kids menu is small (literally) but has all the staples of kids food. Portion sizes were adequate and everything turned out well. Good beer list and full bar available. Nice work! The building itself is cool. It's an old Armory so there is lots of history in there and even served as the home basketball court for F&M College and a semi-pro basketball team for some time. Remnants of the basketball court still cover the floor of Decades. Vintage video games and some modern as well as bowling make this place super special...there is literally something for everyone.
