I recently had breakfast at Deb's for the first time. It felt like a country restaurant. Deb is hands on and interacts with the customers. Her friendliness and charm are definitely a big selling point. Top tier. There is inside table and counter seating, and covered outside seating as well. The space is appropriate for the type of restaurant, but it's more functional than fancy. Deb's is open for breakfast and lunch. I ordered sausage gravy and biscuits, over medium eggs and spicy home fries. The food was well executed. The eggs had a bit of run as I like, but they were over medium as ordered. The biscuits were solid. The gravy had big chunks of tasty sausage. The home fries were tasty. It says a l lot that I only planned to eat half of the food, but I couldn't stop eating it. This was our first time here. The place is cute and has ample parking. My friend ordered the California Eggs Benedict. I had the Cajun Andouille Sausage Breakfast. I also ordered the Raspberry Stuffed French Toast (half). Delicious! I really enjoyed the Cajun meal. We are definitely looking forward to going there again and trying different dishes. Well, I've been to many a restaurantr in my 79 years on this planet and my wife and I've been to every restaurant that serves breakfast in Middlesex County, Connecticut since arriving here in 2024, to start looking for our "forever" home and discovered "Deb's" Restaurant quite by accident. I like to think of it as serendipity because we only stopped as we passed by [late] one morning for a quick breakfast, to a packed house with the most wonderful aromas drifting outside as we got out of the car and headed to the door! I ordered Deb's Shepperd Pie which I hadn't had since my Mom used to make it specially for me. (t'was the best ever!) and my better half (wife) ordered a short stack of pancakes. OMG ! ! ! Were we ever amazed at the down home, pleasing attentive service and the unbelievably huge portions on the large platters we were served. I could hardly eat all of the delicious "pie" and my wife's short stack was 2, 12" [at least] fluffy pancakes that totally filled the platter. She could only eat one of them and carried the 2nd one out for a snack later in the day. We felt honored to be served by "Deb", herself and have returned to our now most favored breakfast & lunch establishment ever found here in lovely Connecticut. We've now settled in Ivoryton, about 20-25 minutes from home and frequent Deb's as our "go to" breakfast spot as often as we can. The prices were reasonable and even at twice the price we wouldn't go anywhere else for good company,and great breakfast fare. Lunch menu is really good too! We will enjoy Deb's as long as we live and we're sure you will too!!! read more

There were a large amount of eggshells in my meal. Enough to make me wonder how anyone could have missed them. Could someone drop half an eggshell into an omelette and just not notice? The food was just "okay". The service was rushed to the point that we felt unwelcome. If you wanted to mention the eggshells in your meal, who was there to even complain to? No one asked how anything was or if we needed anything...The pancakes were good, fluffy and flavorful so I'll give two stars. Overall- we won't be back. read more

Don't look any further for the best breakfast you have ever had for this is gonna be your favorite new place as it became mine ! The staff and food even the place is great nice and cozy feels like your eating with family. Look at their specials as you walk in on the chalkboard. We stopped by Debs while passing through Higganum this afternoon for a bite to eat. Greeted with happy smiles and a neighborhood feel, we were quickly brought to the table. They had some interesting specials on the menu like a Snickerdoodle coffee and a cajun breakfast. We opted for more traditional fare though. I got the cinnamon french toast, and it was incredible. I also had a kielbasa egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. I also sampled the banana pancakes, oh man! Those were great, and a short stack was enough to feed an army. The charm and friendliness of the staff, coupled with great food and a full belly makes this place great. read more

This place is a real gem. We loved the building, and that they left the doors open while it was raining so we could get a view of the beautiful surrounding areas. Today was the first time I ever visited Deb's restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was awesome, fresh, unique, not your usual bland diner food. The staff and owner Deb were extremely friendly. While I agree the place could use an update, there is something to be said about places like this. I never write comments about prices, unless the food is so bad, and not worth it, but bud you are worried about prices 1. The menu is on line, 2. You can look at a menu before you eat, and decide if it's too expensive for you. Debs is on the higher end, but oh so worth it based on what I ate and the full house, an hour before closing. Deb's seemed to have a lot of regulars based on the conversations going on around me, and most were greeted by Deb who seemed very happy they were there. If you are looking for a Greek Diner or Dunkin don't go here, if you want great food, with some people watching atmosphere, go to Deb's...I'll be back! read more

We were very excited, to learn that Deb's was going into the old Mama Roux's Anew. The building itself has not changed too much. The last 3 owners have added few personal touches, new paint & curtains. The place has always filled up quick, and parking can get a little tricky. We try to get here early and carpool if we're going with others We've been here a handful of times. I have to say, this place had consistently gotten better. Our first visit was a few weeks after the grand opening. We weren't blown away by anything we had that day. It was good service and decent food, but not enough to write a review. Today, we went back and all three of us had an awesome experience. My husband got the Hot Mess; a combination of home fries, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, jalapeños, chili & cheese. It's served with cornbread, but he opted for toast. He said that every forkful was an explosion of new flavors. I had the Irish Benny Mess. They started with cornbread, covered it with homemade hash, topped that with 2 poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and avocado. It's also served with Cajun home fries. Mine was missing the avocado, but that was fine with me. The home fries were definitely on the spicy side. Given the chance to get this meal again, I would substitute for the plain home fries. My son had the Mickey pancake with strawberries and blueberries, a scrambled egg and side of bacon. The meal came to around $40, a little pricey, but worth it. It was topped with tender apples and accompanied by a generous amount of whipped cream. Although topped with so much goodness, the French toast was not soggy. It was encrusted in crispy flakes providing a lovely crunchy crust. The dish was just amazing. Although called a "mess," it was just as unique and special. It was like a deep dish omelette. You cut it open and all the goodness tumbled out. It was chock full of kielbasa pieces, potatoes, onions, and laced with a generous amount of delicious cheese. It was fantastic. Do not let the name fool you. It is a thing of beauty! There was so much food. Deb had warned us and she definitely meant it. We are not casual breakfast people either. We live for weekend brunch! We always come ready to eat. Normally we can polish off two dishes in addition to a pastry appetizer. These 2 dishes defeated us pretty soundly. I am absolutely not complaining though. We took the leftovers home and they were just as good reheated for snack time. I cannot say enough about how much this little place has to offer. Everyone was extremely nice and engaging. Deb just wants to feed you too! She takes a lot of pride in her delicious food. We had been debating getting something with the sausage gravy before choosing what we did.
