Headline: Hands down one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in my life!!! I am now kicking myself for taking so long to go to Deb's. The last couple of restaurants in this space were mediocre at best and I had no real hope for change. I was so wrong!! So sad I missed out on Deb's for so long! Everyone was so nice when we walked in and throughout our meal. Drinks were brought promptly and refilled frequently. Deb came over to take our order herself and helped us choose since it was our first time. My husband got regular eggs Benedict, and I settled on the Irish benny mess...combining my favorite poached eggs and corned beef hash, along with home fries and cornbread. It was amazing!! I am such a corned beef hash and home fry snob...usually wildly disappointed at most breakfast spots. But at Deb's, everything was spot on and delicious. It was such a fun twist with the cornbread and perfectly seasoned home fries all mixed in. I would have licked the plate clean...except...I also decided to order cheesy grits, and Deb brought us some of the fresh apple french toast special. The grits were good. But the french toast was oh-my-goodness-this-is-one-of-the-best-things-I've-ever-eaten amazing!!! Words can't even describe it...crispy, yet soft...perfectly flavorful. The best french toast I have ever had, anywhere, in my forty-something years of life. I will dream of this french toast, and count down the days until I can go eat more of it!! The Apple french toast was a special, but there is a bananas foster french toast on the menu all the time. I will definitely be trying that on my next visit. Deb's is fantastic!!! Finally a spot in this location that will stick around. I've been here for lunch a couple of times as I work at Pratt & Whiney down the road and I have even bought lunch for my team a couple of times and brought it back to the office, it was ready on time, the food was even still hot when we got it back. I recommend the sausage biscuits and gravy with egg and grits... You can't find that delight everywhere but it is one of my favorites. I try to eat sausage biscuits and gravy at least seven times a week, so this makes it a whole lot easier. Deb is very friendly and welcoming herself and you can tell she loves what she does because they loves to explain what she has on the menu in detail because she actually cares. I will be returning quite often. read more

Came by for a late breakfast today on the recommendation of my sister who lives in Haddam. We really enjoyed it - fast, friendly service and tasty food. Our party ordered a breakfast sandwich, pancakes, eggs, toast and home fries - all standard breakfast fare and it came quickly and exactly as ordered. The pancakes were huge! Milk and water came in large glasses which was appreciated and the coffee was fresh and quickly refilled. Outdoor and indoor seating and just a nice, welcome atmosphere. Little local place in higganum. Quaint place inside and Not much to look from the outside but all the times I've been here they have a wide enough menu to suit almost anyone. Today I had a pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and a Diet Coke. All in all I like it. Wow, what a disappointment. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, & had high hopes for this place. But then after waiting a while for a server to come take our orders (the place wasn't that busy), we approached the same friendly hostess, who replied, "You in a hurry?" Then, we ordered the specials: fried clams (about 1/2 doz) and fish (3 pieces) and chips. A real gem. The location has gone through several owners over the years but under Deb's management, today it is by far the best yet. In a breakfast place I look for good food, hot coffee and friendly service. Debs provides it all. As of this review, the current kitchen staff are amazing! Adam, Lorenzo and Yvonne. We have found our breakfast place. Environment is clean, organized, and homey. The staff is polite, professional, responsive, and attentive. The food........OMG, plentiful but not too much, tasty, especially the biscuits and sausage gravy. It has been over 35 years since I have found a breakfast gravy equal in quality and taste as I had at Fort Knox, Kentucky during Army Boot Camp of 1978. Chip beef on toast (aka "Scheise on a Shingle") got me through some very tough times in the military. I can now fire my therapist and just come here for the gravy. I saw a segment last night April 8, 2020 on WTNH about this restaurant. The owner was interviewed and they showed her serving a customer with NO GLOVES AND NO MASK! Seriously!! With everything going on, you've got to be kidding me!! They showed the cook in the back who wasn't wearing a mask either. I was really hoping it would turn out well and be a great place. I was there last weekend and I got the breakfast omelette. It was alright, however no good place is going to throw 2 pieces of cheese, barely melted, on the omelette. They ran out of silverware while we were there and the dishwasher or cook had to be our server because they were too busy. In the end, it is just another place with a new paint job inside the building and food that could be so much better. I think I'm going to be a regular here, I just ate here for the first time and I will be back. I met the owner Deb, she's super nice and very friendly. I had the Hot Mess, which was delicious! It could feed 2 people, honestly (although I ate every bit of it). The Specials sounded good, but I had read here on yelp about the hot mess and seen pictures, so I had to try it. We went for breakfast on opening day, so obviously we weren't expecting perfection as they work out the kinks. All in all I was satisfied with my egg scrambler breakfast - good portions and I enjoyed the crispy home fries. Others were happy with blueberry pancakes and cinnamon butter French toast. Was in the area for an estate sale looked on yelp for a cheap and good place to eat for lunch. When we walked in the place is very small the waitress was extremely nice.
