Dea's is a Gresham institution. The burger's are pretty classic... nothing fancy or unsual, but better than fast food quality. Same with the fries. The breakfast is fine, too. If it were between Dea's and Denny's, I'd go to Dea's. If Central Cafe or Jazzy Bagels is an option, I think you have to choose one of those, honestly. Just about the only thing that is really great about Dea's is their shakes and malts. If you're not interested in frozen sugary sweetness, I might consider other options. read more

Went here this morning for a Mother's Day breakfast with our girls , had to wait about 10 minutes which was not to bad considering it is Mother's Day and all, but that was not the problem here... when my fiancé order her meal she explained very clearly what she wanted and what she got was not it... she asked for her eggs to be completely cook and what she got where very running whites eggs which she can. Or stand, as well the service was very slow and under staffed with the amount of customers there.... Will most likely not come back here again simply do to bad service from the cooks who can't seem to cook eggs correct at all.... I would give them no stars if at all possible!!!!!!! read more

Was hungry for an old fashioned hamburger. I saw all the great reviews online about this place so my husband and I figured we'd check it out. All I can say is, oh my goodness! Their burgers are so tasty I would say they are better than five guys! Their french fries are also great, nice and crispy. Really not sure how this place rates as high as it does. I would rate it less than 1 if that was an option. We went there last night (Friday) for the first time, and it was terrible. FOOD * fries - we ordered 2 large plates - they had no taste whatsoever * tater tots - small - I think we got like 10, really? And, they were over done, looked like old grease fry * french dip - this was a mini-sandwich, VERY, VERY small * clam chowder - looked like they forgot to add the cream into the mix! SERVICE Appeared to be all kids working in the place CLEANLINESS Bad - there were multiple tables that were empty with dishes on them, and we had to ask twice to get one of them cleaned off I would not eat here again. read more

Food is good for what it is, but the service is awful. We sat for 10 minutes and watched both servers fill the jelly rack. Then one came out to warm up someone's coffee, there were only a could of customers in the dining area, then she went back to mess with the jelly again. So we left and went to Elmers!!! Deas had thier name long before the crummy fast food chain in California. The burger meat at Deas is delivered fresh, it's never frozen. Simple diner. Food done reasonably well. Had breakfast: eggs were a little runny in top and overcooked beneath, but edible, great ham, good hash browns, coffee a little weak, but this ain't no Charbucks. The wait staff looked a little tired and overwhelmed during the rush, but they sure we're friendly and got the job done. Down home basic, not cheap, but fair prices. read more

We were looking for a good old fashion cheeseburger and we found here. Homemade hamburger buns. The long burger was yummy. It is obvious that you order your food and then sit down. I come for breakfast often and love it. Breakfast has table service. Lunch and dinner are counter order and drive thru only. Like I said, I love breakfast. I haven't found anything to rave about with lunch or dinner but the halibut and chips wasn't too bad. read more

Craving a great burger & since it was on the Portland Top 10 & I was near by, I gave it a try. $17.45 was the cost of my meal, which included a burger, tots, & a malt. A good burger to me is tasty with crisp cold veggies & savory meat. This we not the case. Toys were disappointing - all 16 of them were soggy & tasted of old oil. And to top it off, my chocolate malt was missing the malt & more of a chocolate & vanilla swirl. Disappointing to say the least. read more

So let me first start by saying that I grew up going to Dea's and although I don't eat burgers often, Dea's is typically where I go when I get the craving for one because they are unlike any other burger with the homemade fresh buns and dressing. YUM!...But last week my husband and I went there and both of our burgers were cold. We didn't take them back or complain but just suffered thru our cold burgers and left. i went through deas drive through saturday october 28th, ordered a cheeseburger, got down the road a little ways and took a second bite and bit down on something hard, OMG it was a piece of glass about 1/4" in size, i am damn lucky i did not swallow it, when i went back to show them, they were not overly apologetic, they asked if i wanted another burger( Hell No) i said, gave me my 4.85 back, needless to say my days of eating there are finished! and the county health inspector has been alerted, i hope no one else has an experience like this. Came in for breakfast at 11:45. No sign indicating to seat yourself, wait for seating, or order at the counter after a certain hour. The place was 1/4 full. Dead.. Wait staff walked around me for 45 minutes. A busses finally let me know that breakfast was over. Said it looked like the waitress hadn't seen me in time.. Didn't send one over or anything. I've been going to Dea's since a child in the late 1950's, and it has always been the burger you crave. However, after holding out for a couple of years I went today and was a bit disappointed. I had a longburger with cheese and everything on it. My two complaints: Too light on the secret sauce, and what happened to the potato bun? Big mistake dropping that, because that soft bun with the flour dusting was what made it a unique standout. Bummer. Now it's just an average burger, and I probably won't make the 19-mile each way special trip for it any more. I'm kind of sad. End of an era. read more

Family owned for 60 years! I worked here while I was in High School. The family still runs the place. The breakfast menu hasn't changed in 40+ years! The food is phenomenal! We now live in Vegas, so only make it up to Dea's a couple times every year. We have an "eat our way thru Oregon" list each time we do come up. Dea's breakfast and lunch are always on the list! Highly recommend.! My favorite is the Breakfast #5 Cheese Omelet and Hubby always gets #2 the steak and eggs. Then we come back for a longburger and shortburger for a lunch! read more

Dea's has been one of my family's favorites since before I was born. But today I went through the drive thru and what i saw shocked me. I want to say first off, the person that helped me had a lovely personality but very, very big issue with hygiene. The shirt she was wearing was a cream color but around the bust and armpits it was BLACK from dirt and grime and grease. The apron was not any better. Honestly, both articles of clothing looked like they had not been washed in years. I was shocked that management or ownership has assumingly seen the employee wear this and did not immediately ask her to change or give her a clean shirt or apron. It was honestly so bad it made me question whether my food had been prepared in a sanitary manner and made me completely lose my appetite. I did not come here to bad mouth the family/company or turn anyone away from Dea's. However, I would like management to take note and make a change. Hygiene and sanitation are EXTREMELY important in the food industry. Please, please do something about what I witnessed today, I want to be able to continue to enjoy Dea's for years to come. read more
