I give this restaurant a 5/5, mainly coming from its vibes, service and drinks! I came here with my friend on a Thursday and even though it was a weeknight, I was surprised to see that all reservations for the prime spots were almost taken! I arrived at 6pm and the restaurant was already bustling with people and filled with high energy. The interior is absolutely GORGEOUS. Like. stunning. I felt like I could take a pretty photo from every angle. It is a small unassuming entrance but the inside is so spacious and dimly lit. It is perfect for a date night or night out with friends. The service was also spectacular. Our waiter was so kind and he brought our food and drinks out very quickly. I ordered the Greens & Grain bowl and I unfortunately was not in love with the dish. It was missing avocado and was lighter on the veggies but the drinks were still divine and made up for it! I am re-writing this review because the business manager kindly commented on my previous one and I think that shows great hospitality. This restaurant easily deserves all 5 stars. In fact, I have even (already) decided to have my birthday party here!! I was happy to see that this restaurant does private events too. Dear Maud has Easily become my favorite cocktail bar in Hoboken. Their pornstar martini is my favorite drink on the menu and I love all of their food I have tried so far. The problem was the food and execution. 6 meals arrived, after 20 minute, I asked the server when the rest of the meals are going to be out. He looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. He had to retake the order, went back into the kitchen and informed us that the original order was on two tickets and one of them got lost. Come on give me a break, so we waited about 30 minutes for the second meals to arrive after the first one's. some of the items were cold when they came out, the eggs were OK. We stopped by Dear Maud for dinner on a weekday. The place was packed to the brim and we assumed that if it's that popular, the food would be amazing. We did not get a table and ended up at the bar at the back. The bartender was friendly and attentive. However, the food quality leaves much to be desired. I wanted to love this fresh cool spot in Hoboken. It's gorgeous when you walk in. The cocktails were great but the food... that's a different story. Everything we ordered was bad. Like bad bad. The pork bao buns were cooked terribly, they were soggy and undercooked. If you're going to serve $16 pork bao buns they need to be good. The Asian style wings were ok, drenched in what tasted like a store bought sauce. Last but certainly not least, the sweet salty spicy pizza. That was beyond bad, inedible. The gaunciale was low Quality and poorly cooked. Chunks of burnt fat on top of the pizza was essentially what it was. The hot honey was not proper hot honey, and the tomato sauce was just bad canned tomato sauce. Again for a flatbread that costs $17 it needs a lot of work. The drinks are great and the atmosphere is nice but the food is so bad. I wish this place was better. read more

The food, drinks, and vibe here last night were incredible, but unfortunately our service was unacceptable. As a group of 3 we waited close to 40 minutes for 4 appetizers and a flatbread, then over 10 minutes for a spritz from the bar. When we asked our server about the spritz, we watched him go over to the bar in the back and ask the bartender about it. The bartender said he made it, but it was in front of another customer at the bar who said "I thought it was for me!" We then watched the bartender take it from the customer, top it off with Prosecco, then hand it to the waiter to bring to our table. When we asked the waiter about what we saw, he said the customer "said he didn't drink it." Of course we asked for a new drink, but the fact that the staff was willing to pass off a drink that had clearly been drank by another customer is absolutely disgusting (especially during a pandemic!!) The service was just right and we didn't feel rushed. The atmosphere & ambience was very nice, my only comment would be that it's rather loud, so as the evening went on, it became increasingly hard to hear! Restaurant is beautiful and spacious, however, they need to lose the "Attitude", as no restaurant is above losing customers due to turning them off. No need to say at check in "You can have your table for 90 minutes, then you can move to the bar for a drink." That sets the mood already as poor before you sit down. The food came out quickly, and except for the flatbread, everything was lukewarm, not hot, including the brussel sprouts, octopus, pork bao's, and gnocchi. Great food and decor/appearance/ambience, but the music is too loud! I lost my voice trying to have a conversation (you have to yell if you're sitting at a high top table) and unfortunately will not be returning. Highly anticipated the opening of this place as I live right around the corner and was excited for a new cocktail bar nearby. The drinks were refreshing and visually appealing. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were larger than expected (there were only two of us and two apps were plenty for dinner). We had the chicken bao and crispy rice which came with 4 pieces each. They did a great job overhauling the interior of this place from what was previously a sports bar - it looks really chic inside now. Finally a place worthy of getting a little dressed up for in Hoboken. My only "complaint" was the volume of the music- I think it'd be difficult to have a date or conversation here as the music was really loud. Our waitress had a difficult time hearing us put the orders in as well. It was opening weekend so maybe they'll tune it down a bit going forward. read more

Came here for dinner one night visiting the area from California and let me just say this place is a VIBE. The food was great, I got the margherita flatbread pizza and it was so delicious. The service was amazing & quick & we truly felt taken care of. The overall ambiance was so fun especially for a larger group of people, the more the merrier! Best new restaurant in Hoboken! From the Irish team that owns Jackdaw in NYC, comes this hopping bar and restaurant. Gorgeous interior with a big bar upfront and a smaller bar in the back. Came early on a Thursday night and by 5:15 there was a line waiting to be seated and I got the last seat at the bar. Delicious cocktails and my favorite Archer Roose prosecco on tap. Menu is eclectic and fun - I tried the Crispy Chicken Bao Buns and they were delicious! Couple next to me had a flatbread which looked and smelled amazing. Everything about this place was pretty mediocre from the first couple of times I've been here. The food and service were ok. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. Then I got the burger and it was one of the worst burgers I've ever had. I can't believe they actually charge more for that burger than places like Zack's, which is a far superior burger. If a restaurant gives me something so bad, the best I can give is 2 stars. Since everything else was ok, I'm not going to give 1, but that burger should be taken off the menu or redesigned. The Italian flatbread was terrible, it was as if it was on a tortilla it was so thin, and the toppings were not good. For $17 it was an absolute waste, the guanciale was awful on it and the entire flatbread was soggy. The crispy rice spicy tuna was not high quality, although the presentation was nice the tuna did not taste fresh, the rice to tuna ratio was off, and it was really heavy on the mayo. Would not eat here again but would possibly come back for happy hour drinks only. read more
