A popular old school spot for locals. Customer-centric servers and appealing vibe. Drip-only coffee was very good. The Jeffrey breakfast sandwich was meh, the sausage is much too thick. The hash browns were terrible: no crisp, tasted dry almost microwave-like. There's good value here as portions are generous. Maybe one and done unless I happen to be driving by.

Ok, this restaurant is fine... just fine. I had the fish and chips, the fries were crispy, the fish was mostly crispy, and everything was well cooked. However, the food has little in the way of flavor, very little salt, rather plain, the tartar sauce was mostly mayo, and the ranch on the side salad was also barely ranch. I would say this, service was cheery and quick, the food was plentiful especially for the prices, and I was full when I left, unfortunately though not terribly satisfied. However, if you are looking for less salt, and no complex flavors, then this is a perfect joint and quite affordable. No debit or credit accepted here.

This is the breakfast place to be. They do offer lunch too but their breakfast menu is where it's at! We've visited here many times over many years. I keep coming back for the pancakes! They're so fluffy and good and cooked perfectly every time. The staff is always friendly and hard working. Things to take note of; They only accept cash but they do have an ATM available. It's not a huge restaurant, it's a "historic" house that is charmingly set up to dine in. You may have to wait a bit to be seated if it's a busy day/time. Theres limited parking but we've always been able to find a spot. Don't come in if you're in a big rush or have limited time. It's not fast food and we generally wait for our food longer here than most places. I note this because if you're aware of it you can sit back and be patient until your food arrives to enjoy. They offer a large menu with tons of options to choose from. There's sure to be something or everyone. Our latest visit we did try lunch options for the first time. We had sandwiches that were both very good. We tried the clam chowder too and enjoyed that to start with. Even though we did like our lunches we'll be back for breakfast again soon. Get the pancakes!!

My go-to order here is country fried steak and biscuits and gravy! So good and so filling, I can never finish the entire portion by myself. The gravy on both dishes is sooo good. Cash only!

You know how good a place is by the length of the wait and I had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. A cute old house from the early 1900s, the place has charm, good service, and delicious food at very reasonable prices. The servers have obviously been here a long time, so things flowed smoothly in my quest for some good chow. Mine was quick, friendy, and attentive, keeping my coffee topped-off whenever she came by. I had the Homestyle Breakfast ($13) with two eggs, hash browns, three slices of bacon, and a biscuit and gravy. There was so much food, I had to take half home and it was delish. The price was 2/3 the cost of similar breakfasts elsewhere where you are lucky to pay less than $20, making Dean's a definite TravelValue ... HOOAH! The only negative was me showing-up with not much cash and the sign on the front stated ¨We don't take debit/credit cards¨, so I had to run to an ATM down the street. In this day of contactless payments, I would have been happy to pay and extra buck or two to use a card. CombatCritic Gives Dean's Homestyle Cafe 9 Bombs Out Of 10 ... More Bombs Are Better!

On the outside it is a house. Inside, there is not very much seating so if it's busy you might have to wait a while for a table. The waitresses are old school and super sweet and know excellent customer service. The food is amazing, like an old school from scratch diner. The only thing that I could complain about is the wait for seating, other than that it was a perfect experience and I will be going back!

Their Eggs Benedict weren't that great, it was more of disappointment and I couldn't eat much of it

The food was a hit or miss.. The staff wasn't too friendly, the service and the ambiance was okay!I would only order to go next time!

Not a fan of businesses that don't take cards. There are many reasons I feel this way, but it's not a good look. We were invited here by friends who come here often and enjoy it. They like the price for quantity and it makes sense. We had a pretty long wait as this place was busy for Sunday breakfast and then they messed up and couldn't read their own writing and thought we were a large group and not just 4. Being with someone who is recovering from medical stuff and waiting outside while other people are sat before us wasn't awesome. But we got seated eventually in this dingy cramped place. The service was poor to say the least. The waitress came to take our order and in the middle of my friend placing hers the waitress just starts talking to coworkers about someone's drink or something, totally ignoring us so she stopped and we waited while the waitress finished her conversation (that she started). Finally we could order, but she's either new to serving in general or is terrible at her job. I really do think it's the latter. Food was okay, nothing special. Usually with biscuits and gravy you get way more biscuits and I planned on taking some home with jam for later. They split them all open and cover them in gravy. That might seem like a great thing, but I've never had any place do it like this so it was unexpected. That meant not only was I not going to enjoy my biscuits the way I was planning, but now I have soggy food for later. Now you know in case you think you want to order them. The portions were large and the price cheaper than most, probably because of location. It was okay. I wouldn't seek it out, but if my friend's invited us again we would go.

Old Fashioned breakfast with biscuits and gravy, pancakes.

There were many large seating area available. One main cedar table was a big attraction. There is a fireplace with a table by it We got a table. I ordered a Borgona, fruit puree juices mix with Sprite. Never had one, but sounded really good. It came and it was delicious and fruity for a mocktail. We ordered a shrimp ceviche and octopus skewers to start out with. The Shrimp Ceviche was very delicious and it was something that I was very happy to share it with my friends. It was a big portion of shrimp cocktail with salsa on the bottom and these large sized blue chips. It was so good that we ate it quickly. Octopus skewers was a tad charred. Yet very delicious especially if you eat it with the pineapple together. Brings out the flavor of the pineapples quite well. We ordered the Pork Belly Tacos and Mole Shrimp Tacos which came in 3. I absolutely loved street tacos filled with good fresh ingredients. And both of these hot the spot. The pork belly was an absolute great flavor of the pork belly. The Shrimp was delicious. Cook perfectly and easy to devour quickly. DeFuego Nachos had Jalapenos. But wasn't listed. The nachos were delicious and it was quickly devoured. Wings came in 4 wings with garlic parmesan with carrots and celery and ranch on the platter. Heavily garlic on the wings yet very delicious. Half wedge salad was a surprise how much there is in the salad. A lot of fresh veggies there with cherry tomatoes and sliced radishes in it. I had a absolutely fun experience celebrating my birthday here. DeFuego had Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm, seven days out of the week. Seems the Happy Hour here is very popular. You have 21 appetizers to choose from on the Happy Hour Menu. There are Mocktails, and any drinks you want available. Definitely will come back again.

I ordered 2 things and both came out wrong. Our waitress spoke very loudly and we could hear her having long personal conversations with people a couple tables away from us for 10+ minutes at a time, several times. While we waited for her, we ran out of water a few times and I had to ask for more. It was over an hour before our order was even taken. We did flag her down to order an appetizer, brussel sprouts with cheese on the side due to a dairy allergy, but... the sprouts came out with cheese on them. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. I wanted to send it back, but I didn't want to deal with the embarrassment or have to wait even longer for food. We were about an hour & 45 minutes into dinner by the time we got our food. I was so disappointed! I also wanted to get dessert to celebrate the occasion but the service was SO slow that we had to cancel our after-dinner plans. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.

After getting sat down, we just... waited. For about 10-15 minutes, nobody showed up. Eventually a server came and took our order in a very disinterested fashion. We ordered a cocktail, the bruschetta appetizer, and then a burger, the king salmon and a plate of chicken pasta in white sauce for the little one. Everything took forever to come out (even the drink), nobody came out to check or refill waters in the 90 minutes we were there. Cocktail (Spring Break) - 5/5 great! Bruschetta - 3/5. Generally good but the bread was carbonized and as hard as a rock. Burger + fries - 3/5. Burger looked sad but was actually pretty tasty, if a little overcooked. Fries looked great (hand cut) but upon us closer inspection in the low light, you could see they were 50% those tiny peel pieces that get burned when frying. Guys! You are supposed to take those pieces out! Salmon - 3/5. Kind of... fine. A little fishy, not really what i expect for King salmon. Chicken pasta for toddler - 4/5. Actually this was delicious (if a bit overcooked) and it will my leftover lunch (toddler didn't eat it but that isn't the pasta's fault). Total bill for everyone, with tip: $126 So pretty mediocre food, downright bad service, and premium pricing. It's a pass from me!

The prices of the drinks were all around $15-20+ but we were all okay with it given the good service (thus far), high end atmosphere, etc. There were people in there but it was a pretty mellow Saturday evening. We were given a nice large area to sit and thanked the hostess. The waitress came and was clearly a little overwhelmed but took our drink orders. I mentioned a drink my husband had upstairs and asked if I could have it, but was told they had a different menu down here and I needed to order from that menu. I looked it over while the others ordered their drinks, and when she came back to me, I asked if I could go upstairs to order the drink I wanted, and bring it down. She said sure. I put in an order for a couple food items with her, and she left. My brother in law kindly offered to go upstairs and order the drink and was gone for quite a long time. We learned that when he was upstairs, he went to the bar and mentioned I wanted a drink from his bar. The bartender's mood shifted and he said he had 10 drinks ahead of my BIL, and asked him to go downstairs to order. My BIL informed him he was told the downstairs bar didn't have the ingredients, and was sent up here. The bartender was annoyed and asked my BIL to go downstairs for 10 minutes and come back again to order. My BIL replied that he was happy to wait at the bar instead and took a seat. After a long while, the bartender curtly said that my BIL would have to pay for the drink up here, which my BIL of course agreed to. My BIL said it was very uncomfortable and the bartender was being rude (a couple sitting at the bar also mentioned this). We are guessing he was overwhelmed and didn't handle it well. He brought the drink downstairs, no problem. We were all sitting for a while and noticed that my BIL never received the beer he ordered from the waitress downstairs. And after about 45 minutes I asked about the food I had ordered (she hadn't checked in with us at all during that time, and I should mention it was not busy at all - several tables open). The waitress said she forgot to put it in. That was it. No offer to quickly put it in, no offer to comp a drink, no real apology. We asked for the bill and split it between two cards. When we got the receipts and cards back, my husband found they had given both him and his brother (the other payer) copies of my husband's receipt-so he assumed he was double charged. He went to the front to bring this to their attention and explained how he was upset by the poor service throughout the evening. He received a quick response that they had printed the receipt twice (didn't charge twice) and were short staffed that evening. We are all understanding people and my sister in law ran restaurants for years, we all had food service jobs and are sympathetic but really just disappointed in this place. I'm writing this review because the employees there just didn't seem to care about the issues we raised. They had an acoustic artist playing that evening who was phenomenal. If you go there on a different day with different staff, I'm sure you'd have a great time. But for the price and ambiance, we really expected better service.
