First of all, parking may be problematic here. I can never find street parking on White Plains Road, so I end up having to park on 213 street. There's a fire plug In front of the store so only park in front if someone else can sit in your car's driver seat while you shop. Also, Central is a little more expensive than Home Depot, and that's virtually always the sad reality for those of us who try to patronize small businesses that serve various home improvement supplies. Also, they have many items that Home Depot doesn't stock. But the service and convenience makes up for it. Everyone working here is very courteous and knowledgeable. And PATIENT! My father tells me to buy things at the plumbing supply place, I buy them, then he tells me he needed another size than what he had previously told me. I had to make returns. Returns, even with credit cards, are hassle free, however they have some exceptions on what you can return so be sure to read the signs at the counter carefully. I had to make two returns in one afternoon and they handled it very patiently and courteously without a grumble. And that's what impresses me about Central Plumbing Supplies above all, and that's why they get five stars from me. Please don't take advantage of their courteous nature though. I'll feel guilty if this review encourages such behavior! So overall, it's more expensive than Home Depot, parking can be a hassle, but they are very well stocked and the employees are really great. I went in there recently to buy a wrench to tweak the saddle height on my bike and was not too amused. One of the employees made it clear that he didn't want me working on my bike there, which I wasn't planning to do. My plan was to buy the wrench and work on the bike outside. The guy at the checker did not seem too knowledgeable or interested in helping. I went in there expecting them to take a look at the part I wanted to work on and to be given some advice on how to take it on. I left with a wrench that did not help me with the repair i needed, and was told that I could not return the tool even though I had purchased it about 2 minutes before. I don't typically leave reviews, but I hope that this can motivate small shops like this one to continue to do all that they can when someone comes in requesting some guidance. It is in a prime location considering that ask the Bengali, indian, Pakistani, etc stores and food venue are right around the corner. Literally if you go upstairs there is one of the major Bengali sweet store right there. Around it are the "brother" stores, with a new one that was built only a year ago. Those stores are where they sell their vegetables and meat, as well as other assortment of Bengali products. Now this store is in a basement, or at least that's what it looks like; I would say no more 700 sq feet if anything. So you already know how cramped and cluttered it can get. Well let's just say there are making use of that place to every square inch. As soon as you enter your head can almost touch the ceiling if you are around six feet it seems like. You see this tiny little counter with the old cash register still there, and around it anything and everything. From batteries to deodorant you will find it right there. There are cords hanging right off the wall next to the counter. You have fans of all different brands, sizes, and prices crammed into the side where the pathway starts. If you are obese like me definitely get ready to suck in once in a while so you don't bump people haha. Then it breaks down into three more aisles where, you guessed it, the level of space just decreases. For an OCD person this place is pretty much hell. They have lot of things scattered, however at the same time I am not blaming them for it since the level of space is pretty much nothing. You have game boards from Bangladesh here, and other assortment of items you find mostly in the Brown culture. The prices are quite good which is why I have them four stars. The usual things like tide or clorox are their normal prices but once in a while you find them at a bargain. They are as close, or may just be, to a ninety nine cent stores that are out there. The people are quite nice and helpful, and have been there the whole time I seen that store get created. If you ever need and indian utensils or other things come check out this place.
