Love this place. They have lots of older games but also have the latest new hits for sale. Their inventory seems to rotate fairly regularly as some of the harder to find items do not stay on the shelves very long. This store also has a good variety of gifts such as plushies, LEGO sets, and toys. So yes Game Zone is very helpful to me around Christmas time. They also have trading cards, particularly Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh. No sports cards, look elsewhere for those. I'm very happy this store is here! read more

From the outside, I never would've expected the store to be the way that it is. But I guess that's why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover! Mario & Pikachu statues greet you from the outside and as you step in, you're hit with a wave of nostalgia. But that's the thing, this place not only has 80's & 90's games/collectibles but also modern stuff as well! I spent a long time browsing all the retro games & accessories - they even have the consoles to go along with them. Rarer games, imported games, you name it. They also carry a fair share of trading card game booster packs. But really they take up as much of the store's space as possible! The workers & owner are friendly and seems like they've been there for a long time. They said they recently changed systems so it's hard to look up specifically what I'm looking for, but took the time to walk me through their various sections and see if they carry it. I took a trip to Game Zone to trade in an old-ish console and some games. Knowledge of these things is not my strong suit (nowadays, at least). Anthony (as well as the other gentleman behind the counter whose name I did not catch) was very polite and friendly. He also took the time to explain Game Zone's trade in valuation system compared to other stores in the industry to clear up any questions. Overall, an efficient and pleasant experience. The hands-down best game and card store in Bergen County. Anthony and his awesome employees have really helped my son choose great cards, and grow his Pokemon card collection. The store also carries switch games and many other new and vintage games and consoles. In addition, this store is budget friendly, and offers Pokemon cards that can be bought individually so I'm not stuck buying a whole box like at Target, but we can choose the exact card(s) he wants. My son begs to go there all the time, and the staff has been so helpful and patient with each and every visit. Gave my Xbox One for them to diagnose + repair and the owner told me he would call me and let me know what the problem was. 3 weeks later no call, so I contact him and he said he will find out and call me back. No call back... I call again and he says the same thing and again I get no call back. 3rd time he says It will be ready on Monday, so i go in on Monday and not only does he not have it ready but still has no idea whats wrong with it and was mad at me because i didn't call before coming. Within the next few days, he apparently sent it out to his repair guy who deemed it unfixable. He told me to pick it up on Tuesday and guess what happened when I showed up Tuesday. It wasn't there. You get the picture. Complete joke of a business to work with, complete waste of time, and even gave me an attitude like its my fault for following up. read more

Dropped by here earlier today. I'd seen their older commercials when I was a kid but never had a chance to go and forgot about the store. Saw the newer commercial on tv last week and decided to check it out on my day off. The store has a great selection of retro games for a pretty fair price. Some of the more in-demand stuff near the register or behind glass cases didn't have any pricing labels on them though but most stuff did. For the size of the store, it has a great set up and really great variety of games. Definitely worth checking out. read more

The owner was entirely a jerk to me. I am 17 years old, and came by to try selling my cards. I had called previously and was told that the boss (the one who appraises the cards) stepped out and that was reasonable as it was around lunch time. Once I had the chance to sell my cards, I offered up some Magic the Gathering tcg singles. Online on Cardkingdom.com, I was able to sell all my cards for roughly around 100 ish. I knew some of the cards were bad quality, so I threw a low ball and offered $80. Do you know what the owner did? He laughed at my face, saying I can't sell this for more than $80. I would understand telling me straightly, but the owner had the audacity to laugh at my face. I also think I am more inclined to believe a website trusted by millions of MTG players, than a guy who also told me that he didn't know much about Magic the gathering. I would've talked to the guy and told him that the website is trust worthy, but after he laughed at me I was a little ticked off. Than I wanted to sell a good amount of decent pokemon cards and we almost made through a deal. Rember I am 17 years old, still trying to get into buying and flipping cards. I offered 20 dollars for a card that is worth 22 dollars, and the owner had the same attitiude and laughed at my face again. So I left being the better man, but still doesn't give the right for the owner to laugh at my face twice. Such a bad experience, and if you are trying to sell stuff to them, I advise not to. read more

This place has been around since I was a kid and its a great home town shop that specializes in all things Video games. They offer alot of swag for any gaming fan and have merchandise thats usually relatively hard to find unless you look online. Although this place is sells video games, it doesnt share the same business model as GameSpot, which I find refreshing. The staff have a deeply rooted culture for games and you can tell by the layout of the store and the help they provide when you are looking for a new game. The Game Zone has a vast variety of games from all the major game systems. And to be honest, it's a pretty good selection. The N64 games are pretty well priced. Anthony the owner was very helpful, knowledgeable and extremely friendly (along with the rest of his staff!) Also, the day we stopped in the owner Anthony's wife and children were there. Sharon his wife was SO friendly and great with my boys and their son Julian even gave my boys a quick lesson on how to play Pokémon! I would highly recommend The Game Zone over any other game store! I used to go to the game zone in my town and I have to say it was nice but, it left a lot to be desired so when I happen to pas by this game zone that went through my head. I honesty wasn't sure If i was really going to like it or not. I have to say it was awesome They had the largest selection for games I have ever seen a little store have I would even venture to say they had a lot more then some of the bigger stores. The best part was it didn't have the feel of the bigger stores like they really didn't want to just sell you stuff and get out it seemed friendly like they wanted you there and actually had a passion for video games. They also had what seemed like a lot of rare collectible items. Not something you would really buy for children but if you are a collector they looked like they had some really cool stuff. Admittedly I know nothing about collecting so I could be way off base on this one but, it looked like they had games and systems that not only don't exist anymore but also they are just really cool to have. I bought Tetris Lighting system there for about $40 dollars. I brought it home to my dismay it did not work. When I plugged it in it refused to light up. My expectations where that I would go back and they would give me a refund for a fraction of what I payed. I brought the receipt back and right when I walk in I was greeted by the store owner who I know well by going there before. I talked to the employee who was super friendly and the store owner Anthony came over to see what was wrong. He worked to try to get it stared also to his dismay it did not work either. I asked if I could exchange it for another lighting system. He gave me a pac-man ghost lighting system that sits on my PC gaming setup and looks fantastic. It was for the same price without hesitation he gave me this. Another time while purchasing a harddrive for my XBOX 360 he even cleaned the thing for free while waiting for a game to install on the xbox. The Game Zone has Fantastic service, fantastic people, and fantastic atmosphere. You wont be disappointed going here. Staff is great to talk to. Just a place where you can generally just hang out and make purchases here of course. I love the game zone and I know you will too. With a selection of many different games and systems at great prices you will always find yourself walking out with a great item in your hands and a smile on your face . read more
