What an absolute gem of a store for every generation of video game enthusiasts. My kid spotted the giant Pokemon character in the window as we were driving somewhere else. I hadn't seen it, but on our way back, we stopped by, and it was like being transported to the 1980s in the best way possible. Digital Press Videogames had something for practically every video game system ever created, from Atari 2600 to ColecoVision cartridges to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One X and PlayStation 5. My kid, who is fascinated with vintage games, picked up a used GameBoy Color and a Pokemon game, while I bought an emulator to play all the classic games I enjoyed as a kid. The prices are more than reasonable, especially for the vintage stuff, and there were deals that were better than any chain store. Came here today for the first time...very impressed with the store and the workers. They are very knowledgeable about games (new and old). Was able to sell some video games for cash. (They also offer store credit). If you are a gamer, I highly recommend coming to this store. They have games for a lot of systems and accessories (controllers, toys etc). This is a really good video game store! There is an incredible variety, spanning the whole range of video game systems from current-day back to the earlier stuff from the 1980's. A lot of video game stores only cater to current systems or perhaps back one or two generations, but Digital Press definitely has the vintage cred. Another nice feature is they have some coin-op machines out front (several are multi-game) so if you bring kids with you, they can plonk around on the cabinets while you shop for vintage merch in the back of the store. They also host events and they even used to print a newsletter (not sure if they do any more, but I picked up some back issues when I stopped in). So you can tell they are actually involved with the vintage gaming community and not just in it for the money. This area has a lot of gaming stores but DigitalPress is really worth a trip if you are anywhere in the area. read more

If you're into retro games I couldn't recommend this store enough. The staff for the most part are welcoming, informative, and helpful. I had brought in a aftermarket game that I thought was legit but unfortunately they not only informed me of misfortune but the man who told me it was fake took time out of his day to show me how to spot a Fake. Both locations are great (Springfield), but be warned with popularity, comes scarcity. The guy next to me in the store just now brings in a dead fat PS2 that he bought there yesterday. The jerk of a clerk says all they have to swap him is a PS2 slim, not really what the guy wants, and he had THE NERVE to charge him $5 more because there's "a price difference" between the consoles. CLUELESS and RUDE customer service. Who's training these people? This guy had to come all the way back because they gave him a dead unit to begin with. I've spend roughly $2,500 here in the last two years. Today I very politely asked to use the restroom and was denied. I found this to be rude. I look like a businessman, not an undesirable person. I left without spending a dime of the 300 dollars I brought and would have to think hard about returning. Its a retro game retail store. What you see is what you get. *Prices* The prices are fixed, barely lower than ebay prices and they don't haggle whatsoever. Honestly, I've been to places that charge more, but its not hard for me to find places that charge less (like Nostalgia Gaming in Midland Park). *Selection* That's one thing this place does well. They have a large selection of games and they're valuable games are often in cases and in great condition (however priced a little high). *Owners* From the few interactions I've had with them throughout my 6+ visits here, they don't seem overtly friendly, and I rarely feel 'welcome' when I walk in here. Its a bit of a cold atmosphere but to their credit, I haven't gone out of my way to talk to them either. *Bottom Line* If prices don't matter to you, this place has a great selection and you'll likely find exactly what you're looking for. This location has been here for a long time. I remember when other chain stores moved into the area and thought that they might have some competition even though I knew they didn't have the older games that digital press carried. However this store has well stood the test of time and has a very loyal customer base. They have several arcade games here and there is one game that can play thousands of games and I have played hundreds of those. remember Pac-Man and galaxian and astroid? Amateur do you remember Solar Quest,Mouse Trap, or Phoenix? Ah now you're talking! They have then in that selection on one machine. They have contests there and tournaments there. They draw a large gathering of people. But even then you're more than welcome to come in and doesn't get too crowded that you can enjoy this location. Typically on any given day however it is not too crowded. Although after school you might notice an uptick in the amount of people that are there. When I said they have old games I means they have very old games that you probably never ever ever and if you have a rare hard-to-find game they can probably find it for you. read more

I've been shopping at Digital Press for years now and there's not a lot of negative things I could possibly say. The selection of systems and games is top notch and the employees are really cool. I have purchased multiple used systems here, all for fair prices and had very little issues outside of needing to get a new power cord a few times. My NES and Genesis were all obviously cleaned and look and play great. The games are all cleaned and there's some rarer games here which is fun to look at, despite the price tag being more then I can afford. The best way to describe the shop is a combination of a great game shop and museum. Also...there's some arcade machines in the shop! You can't go wrong with digital press! read more

Always liked coming into this place for sheer nostalgia; the arcade machines near the entrance and the museum display in the back (which is updated every now and then) are a very nice touch. However, it was only until recently that I realized how great the customer service is and how knowledgeable the workers are. I was searching for Pokemon Emerald, which if asked for at Gamestop will ellicit chuckles (as they stopped selling GBA titles years ago). I went to craigslist but there's problems there as well as the game could be a fake import, have a dead battery, or have problems saving. Not only did they have Emerald for the lowest price (compared to everywhere else I looked), but they even installed a new battery. The store owner has a life-long passion for the hobby that he shares with the classic gaming community through monthly meetings/parties at the end of every month ("NAVA" meetings) which are open to all, are full of colurful regulars with rare items to trade, and usually have game tournaments and refreshments! I went to Digital Press fly first time this past afternoon. The store has a great selection of games from the current generation to previous generations of games. The store has displays from various different eras of games, including an Atari Jaguar demo display. In my visit to the store, I found the customer service great. We had a young woman help us out with the purchase of a Nintendo 64. The same woman helped us out with check out. Even on a call with a customer. Great service! Digital Press Videogames (DP) is a great store for all gamers of all eras. Whether you want to pick up the new Madden, or are looking for some old Atari games, I suggest you check DP first. The atmosphere at DP is unmatched. It is much friendlier and easier than any of the big retail chains. Unlike GameStop, you don't have to worry about being begged to pre-order a game or buy used instead of new. They let you shop in peace, the way you want. I love it. The selection is great. I'm not sure what the other reviewer Marc F. was talking about, but I go about once a month and I always see new games. (And I'm 90 minutes away, the store is that good!) Whenever I go, I see both new stock getting traded in, and more items being put on the shelves/cabinets for sale. There is definitely a very solid rotation of the items for sale. The store literally has everything you can imagine. They have standard fare like Nintendo NES, Sega Genesis and Playstation, but also more obscure games and systems like Neo-Geo, Turbografx, Vectrex and 3DO. They also have games for a bunch of things you probably haven't ever heard of like the PC-FX, Gizmondo and Channel-F. And those are only a few of the systems the store has to offer. DP also sells computer games, both new PC releases and older games for Commodore, Atari, and other computers. All of the current generation games are priced at the standard suggested retail price if they are new/sealed or less than Gamestop if used. Pricing on the older games is very reasonable as well. Some games are more expensive than others due to rarity and demand, but I always find many of good deals to be found at DP. Next time you go, I recommend that you sign up for their email newsletter. I get an email or two every month from them highlighting special events and promotions. read more

Very cool and collected place, had a very nice experience there for the first 15 minutes, awesome selection and good prices. Only problem i had was a few of the staff members, not only are they very strict about looking in their strategy guides. Literally was checking to see if any pages were missing from one of the guides, and they yelled at me telling me it's not a library, trying my best to explain what i was doing, i was quickly shot down once again. After that, i still decided to buy a game. They asked if i knew about another game along the same lines of the one i purchased. I said no and asked what it was about, their immediate reaction were 'You've never heard of it before?! Do you even PLAY videogames at all?' Sure, it sounds like they were being sarcastic, but clearly were being serious. If it weren't for the awesome prices and the few rare games they had, i would have given a worse review. Finally got here after ages of wanting to see what this place has to offer. I must say if you are an old school gamer this place is a must visit! Most likely if you are into the classic video games and live in the area you've most likely at least heard of this place. They offer games in used and mint codition. They usually charge the current market price. The stuff behind glass is usually where you find your gems like boxed games and bestsellers. Many cases abound with games from various systems. The loose games out in the open are usually the b stock games. It is worth a search through these as I found some underrated N64 games like Turok and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer for $6.99 each! If you really want to get your game on before you get home, they have classic arcade machines to play as well! I must also add accessories were quite affordable as well. Bought an N64 power chord and av chord for 9.99 each. In addition to all that, the best thing about this spot is everyone here is very engaging,informative, and offer a great deal of expertise. Got a busted system? If the mother board isn't completely fried they can fix it! Prices vary on repairs.This is great because a lot of folks want their systems running optimally for many years to come. So I strongly encourage you to visit Digital Press! Today I went into Digital Press, at about 7:30pm. I wanted to try and sell some old PS2 games for some gas money. My phone had just died when I got in there so I asked the employees, Alex and Brooke, if they had a charger I could use just for a little bit to get some charge. I needed to be somewhere and I had to call someone but my phone was completely dead and my charger was broken. Alex looked at the charger and tried to see if he could get it to work. Brooke got the brilliant idea to use a PS4 controller charger to see if it could charge my phone. It worked! But I had this crappy portable battery charger that wasn't working very well with me and I was struggling with it. Alex and Brooke noticed, and I asked if they had a power block for the wall, but they let me charge it in their USB behind the counter. They let me charge my phone there for a little while, as I tried to trade in my games. I didn't get much at all, but they were old ass PS2 games anyway that were scratched up. Brooke was sweet enough to give me money for some of them... I know that they probably didn't want them but bought them anyway. I asked her if there was anywhere else I could sell them to get more money, and she said they would have not be not scratched for me to get anything more. She didn't say it in a way that was like, NO YOU SHOULD SELL THEM HERE like *some* video game stores. As we were doing the trade, the three of us were joking around about my charger and how much it sucked and whatnot. Alex and Brooke were really cool employees to talk to. I didn't even feel like I was at a store, I felt like I was hanging out with friends. Not to say they weren't professional- all transactions were on point, I saw Alex helping a customer and he seemed like a really good employee who knew a lot about games. It was clear that Brooke knew her stuff when doing the trades, and her knowledge of games got us to use the PS4 charger. Brooke and Alex were both REALLY good employees, and the fact that they let me charge my phone there was awesome. The icing on the cake of this visit, though, was Brooke. I waited about 5 minutes for a charge, but my phone didn't go on, and I really had to go. So I said it was alright, I had to go, and not to worry about it. As I picked up my phone and the games that didn't sell and got ready to leave, Brooke said, "Wait, do you want a charger? I could give you one for cheap!" I was shocked that she even thought of that, and that they were cheap. She said it would be a used one and ran back and got me it and gave me a great price. I was so happy with how cool they were and how much they helped me out that I told them I would write a yelp review. So Alex and/or Brooke, if you are reading this... I told you! If you can comment to something, do it! Say hi! Alex and Brooke were awesome employees. They were fun, knowledgeable, resourceful, and genuine. There aren't many independent video game stores around these days, and I really do miss them. Digital Press makes me feel young again. I used to love going into random video game stores as a kid and looking around. Independent stores don't have that corporate feel like you-know-where. There is a lot of cool stuff to look at in Digital Press and they have a lot of cool, rare memorbiia. I want to get a PS4, but I'm broke. Once I get some cash, I think I'm going to go there to buy games.They have a HUGE selection of games here too, for EVERY system.
