Zapp Comics is located in the middle of the Valley Ridge Shopping Center, which is anchored by Whole Foods. Shop is long and narrow but very well stocked and organized. Zapp has a good selection of graphic novels, card game items, toys and collectables, and Pop Vinyl's. Wall book selection was nice. The selection of long and short boxes was fair but very well organized. Some items are not reachable, but the staff are helpful when you want to see something and bring it down for you. Overall, Zapp Comics with absolutely worth a stop and one of the better shops in this part of New Jersey. read more

Zapp has always been my local store and honestly I love this store and how welcoming it is. The employees are very helpful and kind and always greet you when you enter. They are always very willing to help or assist when the customer is in need. Their selection of items are great as well and they are always putting out up to date products. I love all things tcg related so I love diving into what they have in their boxes of loose cards to see if I find any hidden gems and since they are always putting more cards out I always find something that peeks my interest. Lastly their prices are really affordable and as a customer I really appreciate that. If you've never been here it's a gem of a store and I highly recommend visiting and you may find out that you want to become a regular customer. Once I switched to Pokemon they still had a fantastic selection from vintage to modern!! I used to come to this store when I was a kid, every chance I could bring my few dollars in while my parents were grocery shopping I would run right over! They know their stuff and they know what they have. When you actually make it over there, it couldn't be made easier to browse and shop. They have a ton of comic books in the middle of the store as well as action figures on the right and located in the back some more action figures as well as some display items. The people at work are a very friendly and very knowledgeable of comic books. Even what they don't know they try and help out with. Not only do they have a lot of comic books but even have some older ones that are actually pretty cheap so if you're just looking for a simple gift or to give to a child he's probably gonna tear apart anyway though should be a good bar for you. I called the store to see if I could sell in some of my high end Pokémon cards. i drove 30 minutes to the store, gave my cards to the "professional" and told him the only exception was I wanted a certain price for a specific card. he got offended by this, refused to purchase any of my cards and acted extremely disrespectfully just because I politely set a standard on one of my favorite cards. I have also heard the owner of the store berate and scream at children for being too excited and loud in what is essentially a toy store. stay away from these pretentious people and find another place to bring your valuables to sell. read more

There were a couple guys looking through boxes of comics and they seemed pretty engaged In conversation-reminded me of the comic book shop scenes on Big Bang Theory (but these guys weren't super nerdy academics, just normal guys). Horrible place to go if you want to sell anything. The place is so cluttered and unorganized. I brought 17 old comics and one guy told me they had no interest in them because of them being comic books about serial killers..... a good comic book store would be smart enough to know that there's always a buyer for something and with them being old and out of print they would sell. Aside from that, I brought multiple bags of items from pops to figures to statues and they didn't even have a part of the store to go and put them on a table and look at them. I had to stand with the some guy who looked like he was a sophomore in high school look through my stuff in the front of the store, right at the entrance near the register with people walking around us and wound up offering me $75.00. He didn't even look through all my stuff. He seemed frustrated and annoyed that I brought stuff in to sell. I know places need to make money but to offer $75.00 on stuff that's worth at least $400.00 is ridiculous. I needed this stuff gone in a short period of time so I countered back with $100.00 so I didn't have to lug the stuff back to my truck and to another store and he couldn't even give me an answer. Another guy had to call him and he said he'll do $85.00. Not to mention the place smelled like horrible body odor. Save your time and gasoline and go somewhere else. read more

Man, this place is the coolest LCS (well, not really local to me!) that I've been to in ages. About a 50 mile trek to Wayne, NJ (we don't have many good comic book shops in the NY Hudson Valley) but after buying plenty of books from these guys the last two years at East Coast Comic Con, decided to take a trip to one of their 2 stores. Really good decision, as they stock tons of old Silver & Bronze age stuff, which is right in my wheelhouse, plus all sorts of cool toys & action figures, all at reasonable prices. Had to stop myself after picking up 60 old classic Marvel comics plus a Daredevil action figure! Staff was very knowledgable and friendly too, which always helps. Plus, there is a GREAT pizzeria in the same plaza where we stopped afterwards for lunch. Cannot wait to go back again! read more

I used to come in here as a kid, and just returned for the first time in probably 10-12 years after getting back into pokémon cards. I was really surprised by the selection of packs, American and Japanese! They have the current packs and a bunch of older packs too. The prices are less than what you'll find online. It's like the employees know that since we aren't part of their network buying the $1000+ books, our inquiries about smaller books don't matter. When I set out to sell my dad and uncle's comic collection, I did my research: I called dozens of comic shops around the country, showed samples to many of them, and met quite a few. In the end, not a single one treated me with the same fairness, helpfulness, and overall respect as Ben at Zapp. He was a true pleasure to work with, taking time out of his day to explain his thought process, and even downloading Skype on his phone so that we could do a virtual "walkthrough" of the collection. He showed up on-time, and never once made me feel like he was out to make a quick buck or profit at my expense. I've only visited the shop once, but I was able to pick up 2 hardcover Sandman graphic novels on sale for $25 off the cover price. Friends of mine swear by it. The staff is friendly- a novelty in most comics shops! The only thing that I found lacking was their selection of alt comics/graphic novels like that of Philly's Wooden Shoe or Baltimore's Atomic Books.
