We have yet to find a store in Northern Jersey to satisfy our tabletop board game needs. By tabletop board games I mean things like pandemic, everdell, wingspan and arc nova, not monopoly, clue and sorry. This place has a decent selection of board games, but the organization scheme is somewhat of a disaster. I think basically the games were vaguely in alphabetical order and then a tornado went through them. So if you have a particular game in mind, you might be able to find it by looking in the general area of the letter it begins with. But seriously very few people come to a board game store with a particular game in mind. A better (and more common) scheme would be by complexity - light vs medium vs heavy strategy, with coop games on a separate shelf. We asked the staff for recommendations, and the person who helped us was less than helpful. You could tell from his tone that he wanted us to leave. He pulled games arbitrarily off of the shelf without much explanation of why he even recommended them. All board games are at market price. I guess we will keep going into the city for our board games. read more

I love this place and it helped me fall even more in love with board gaming as a hobby and passion. They have great deals for their stuff here with a nice variety of minis, paints, board games, comics (tons of them obviously), and plenty of tables to play games with friends or strangers. About a month or so ago I decided I want to get back into Star Wars legion. I could just buy the stuff on Amazon but I really wanted to support a brink and mortar store, there's less and less of those every year. My local hobby store was out of stock with the items I needed, two boxes of phase 2 clone troopers, one box of arc troopers and anakin. So I figured I'll check this place out, it was a 45 minute drive, when I got to the store I really needed to use the bathroom, there is a pizza place next door but I thought it was weird to just come in and pee and never buy anything, figured I'll ask at time warp first. Walked in and talked to a polite gentleman at the register and he said that the bathroom is in the back past that door (pointed it out). When I went to use it somebody was inside, no big deal, I went and found all the stuff I needed except anakin, yes it's more than you would pay on Amazon but it's about supporting a local hobby store so it's ok, total still would have came out to $120 ish plus tax. It's been 15 minutes and the bathroom is still occupied, maybe I should just use the pizza place bathroom next door. There is a line at the bathroom door now, apparently some people want to say bye to the person inside, Kevin was his name the other patrons said, and that he was having a private phone call inside of there. 10 minutes later the person leaves the bathroom, manager or the owner I'm not sure this is not my usual hobby store. He makes idle talk and says goodbye to some people as I head towards the bathroom. He steps in front of my way puffs his chest out and just tries to stare me down lol so I say "excuse me sir, do you mind if I use the bathroom", the man smiles and makes a spectacle of slamming the door leading to the room connected to the bathroom shut, then he takes a step even closer to me smiles and says "i do mind, you gotta go? Better go outside and find somewhere else" and at this point I'm pretty stunned, like just say sorry employees only, no need for that, but I say "oh I'm sorry, the guy at the register told me it's ok" this man gets maybe few inches from my face and says "well I'm going to have a nice and LONG chat with him so I can correct him!" Now this guy looks like he is maybe 50-60 years old, I'm a 40 year old man, why is a store owner taking out whatever daily frustrations he has on me, a patron, I'm not sure, but I'm not here to make a scene, nothing to prove. I didnt say a word, turned around and walked out. Obviously I'm pretty upset right now, so as I'm walking past the register on my way out the polite guy at the front looks at me and goes "hey man, everything ok?" And well maybe something to prove. I stop and say "no actually, but it's ok, I'll Make my purchases on Amazon. Also apparently your in trouble" The people at the pizza place next door were super nice about me using their bathroom btw haha read more

First I'd like to say that I've been here plenty of times before my unpleasant experience & have had nothing but positive to say about this store. But then sometime around the Pokémon go release I stopped by to purchase as many as I could because they were just released. 2 gentlemen grabbed a few packs from a box & went ahead to pay. I then attempted to grab a few packs from this same box & was told not to! An older man came and slammed another box on top and repeated. "YOU CANT TAKE FROM THIS BOX". The awkwardness in the store was undeniable. I'm not sure if it was the color of, or the tattoos on my skin that caused this nasty reaction but I would never spend a dollar here again. read more

I was recently looking for some dice and a friend recommended that I go to time warp. So I figured why no since its about 10 minutes away from my work and check it out on my lunch hour. I probably spent the majority of my lunch hour in there. They have so many things, from Magic cards to comics. A collection of miniatures and I feel like anything you could ever dream of doing to them as well as. They had about 7 cases of loose dice, and a bunch of different sets ranging from plan sets to fancy one ranging about 18 bucks. As for their comics, it's never been my thing but there selection looked ample. If you needed something they look like they would have it. The staff was pretty helpful. I wish I just asked them for help from the beginning because I did spend about 20 minutes just looking around. I did get to take in most of the store. The combination of the lack of comic shops in the area paired with how awesome this place is. It should be a no brainer to give it a shot if you're looking for something. read more

If you are simply looking for comics, board games, and collectibles, you will be very satisfied with Time Warp; there is so much stuff here! However, you will be missing out on so much more. Time Warp also hosts gaming of all kinds. I personally play in the Magic tournaments but I have seen other card and collectible games played as well. What keeps drawing me back is the community. The players here are very welcoming and the staff is very pleasant. You will also see a healthy mix of adults and kids participating. There is a lot of parking near the pizzeria, but do not be surprised if it fills up on the busiest days. Speaking of pizza, I think you are allowed to bring food in, but if its messy I suggest you refrain. One big negative is that tournaments take a very long time, often because they start very late. I came here because they were having a Pokémon tournament that I wanted my eight-year-old nephew to watch because he was interested in learning the game. Met with Debbie and she was absolutely gracious and lead my little nephew to his Pokémon professor Reggie. Reggie sat with my nephew, even during a busy tournament where there were quite a few players and played a game as well as taught him the game. Afterwards, they were nice enough to give him a couple of promo cards and it was a highly pleasant experience. My former experiences with comic book shops and stores like this have always been negative because the people behind the counter always seem to be so jaded. Atypical experiences have been where if you ask a question or are not knowledgeable in any aspect of comic book related culture or memorabilia they regard you with contempt. This has not been the experience here so far everyone is very friendly and welcoming and this is a non-toxic card game community. If there are any parents who want their kids to learn this very fun game (Even I learned by watching!) I would highly recommend this store, try to arrive before 11 AM on Saturday and they should accommodate you nicely. Very well done Time Warp. read more

This is my local comic shop. It offers a wide variety of related items. I'm not a hardcore comic or any of the related merchandise person, so I drop in occasionally looking for something interesting to read. A friend who IS hardcore on comics says the place has too much of the rest - from t-shirts, to toys, role-playing things. A large part of the back of the store is devoted to space for people playing games. So his criticism may be exactly what you would like the store for. I found the staff helpful and not condescending to someone who is not really knowledgeable on these topics. read more

Best stocked supply of Warhammer/Warhammer 40k models and paints in the area- other shops will offer to order it for you, but if I'm going to a shop it's because I need something today. Time Warp Comics and Games... Yeah, I could have tried out for sports. Maybe I could have acted. Maybe I could have spent more time studying and been a doctor or something. There are a lot of the things I could have done growing up. But, my choice was to spend my time and allowance at Time Warp. Why? Because I love comic books and RPGs, and I am here to tell you that Time Warp is the place to get them!! The staff is the best there is, and the selection is huge! read more

This is more of a game store that has comics, rather than a comic store with games. The space is large and it's packed full but most of their space is reserved for various games and game playing tables. By contrast the comic section is pretty small and cramped, really being reserved to a (admittedly large) wall of the store. For such a cramped area they have an impressive selection of comics, though not up to par with many other stores in the state that devote more of their space to comics. In one of the corners they have a collection of comic themed busts and statues. A few of the items we saw were somewhat rare, but poorly displayed. The collection is bust heavy, so if that's your thing; great. The staff I really didn't care for, they were somewhat dismissive of us. We waited in line for about five minutes while a couple people behind the counter were just casually talking with people. Overall the true score of this place is about a 3.5. It would be a really nice space, but for the focus on games (nothing wrong with games just not my thing). This takes it down to a mediocre comic book store. It wins and extra half point, because my girlfriend and I found some really cool Sandman/Death bookends. I'm rounding down to 3 though because of their rude employees. read more

Though they have a vast collection of current comics, the place is pretty disorganized and I was my biggest help in that store (yeah, staff sucks). It's truly a "big for no reason" store. The last time I went, I found a few comics in a box. I went to the register and the guy asked if I bagged them myself to which I responded "no, I found them in that box". He then charged me an extra $3 for the bags and boards without even telling me. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, zapps in Wayne and funny books in lake Hiawatha are 10x better read more

Time Warp is a pretty good comic shop without a lot of competition in the area. It's another one of the contemporary shops that expands its expertise into the gaming world. The left side of the store is pretty much all your miniature and RPG related merchandise. The right side is all your comic related items. The back half store has a ton of tables for the local card and miniature game tournaments they host. The store is usually pretty full here with kids gathering to play their games and uses their minds instead of playing video games. When I first went to this store they had a selectino of back issues. I think they've removed it to add more gaming space. The shop is probably fine to go to get current issues but that's about it. Their focus is definitely the gaming world now. If that's what you are into, you should pass up this store. read more

If you are into board games, this place is absolutely worth checking out. Their selection is vast, and really worth 5 stars. The only down side of the place is that they have more products than can even fit on the shelves, so they have games on all of the counters and floors, making it pretty tight to navigate. There seemed to be a pretty vibrant gaming community, with a decent sized Magic tournament going on when we were there (if that's what you're into). It's very easy to spend a lot of money here, the games are not cheap, so be prepared for that. We'll likely be back next time we're in the area. read more

My first trip here was yesterday (May 3rd) which also happened to be free comic book day. Recently moved to the area and was looking for a friendly "local" game store so a friend and I took the drive down from NY. This place was super busy, but the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I've been to probably 15-20 DIFFERENT table top game stores from upstate NY to Massachusetts, and now Jersey, and Time Warp seems to be the cream of the crop. Time Warp carried products that I've not come across in most of the stores I've been to (Mercs, Dystopian Legions, etc) and a great stock of games. They've even got Badger airbrush paints (and ghost tints!). My favorite part of Time Warp's hobby selection? Choice. Many games stores only have a decent supply of Warhammer FB/40k and Warmachine/Hordes, and Citadel supplies, but very little else. Time Warp carries plenty to keep the hobbyist from getting bored! Most of the prices are on par with other shops of this type. Sure, i could get many products cheaper online, but once i factor in shipping costs, I'd rather support local businesses like this one. My biggest disappointment was that, due to the event happening in the back half of the store, I was unable to browse quite a bit of merchandise that looked promising. It was THAT packed! Not a big deal though, as I will surely be back soon! read more

Timewarp is an institution, and an absolute model of how comic and game shops should be. Timewarp has a good selection of each weeks new releases from Marvel and DC, and a healthy helping of the smaller and indie comic distributors as well. Back issue, trade paperbacks, whatever you want. They also have a great selection of RPGs, wargames, and table top games. (And will order you anything they don't have in stock.) But what really sets this place apart is how welcoming it is. I spent nearly every Saturday of middle school gaming here, and Dave, Jim, and the rest of the staff were always great. Now, when I stop by, the place seems busier than ever, usually with wargames or a CCG tournament going on in the back, but Dave always has time to chat. I think I can best sum up how great this place is by saying that even though I live in Massachusetts now, whenever I want to buy a new geeky item, I make sure to wait until I'm home, so I can buy it from Timewarp. read more

I've been going to this store since I was a nerdy little kid and they were in the tiny location across the street. This "new" location is huge and allows them to stock a wide variety of comics and games, as well as run all sorts of games there. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and everything is very clean, unlike some other gaming and comic shops I've seen in my travels. TimeWarp is awesome--it's really more of a gaming shop than a comic book shop, but they've been super awesome with this last batch of New 52 comics that DC released. If they don't have it on the shelf, on more than one occasion Tony will run and get it from their basement/backroom/batcave and if they don't have it, they'll order it. Oh the memories! (smh) I have sooo many nerd memories of this place I can't even begin to describe it. Just a mecca for all things comics and role playing games. Time Warp was a destination for me during the awkward teen days especially during Friday nights. I came to get my fix of Magic the Gathering tournaments. Looking back on all the fun times I had at the place it was a big part of my life then. I can say for certain that I practically introduced Magic to CG High. I came from a private school where a bunch of us played Magic and when I came to CG no one seemed to know what it was. Then a bunch of my friends started playing it, visiting Time Warp, and one person in particular kept up in the tournament scene long after me and my other compadres outgrew the addicting game. I am spoiled because I grew up a block away from Time Warp when it first opened. This is a huge store with a deep inventory of diverse product. Another review said Time Warp is an institution and I would have to agree. Dave and his staff are very welcoming and treat everyone as a loyal customer.
