Old school diner décor with friendly staff (complete with red booth tables). It's a pretty spacious restaurant. There is decently priced parking nearby (I think it was around $2/hour, meter parking) that is within a 5 min walk from the restaurant. It is a slightly sketchy area though. MONSTROUS burger with 2pc of fried chicken and Chipotle mayo. They only use chicken breast so it can get a tad dry. I also liked their buttermilk biscuit, served with sausage gravy and more chicken. Definitely super filling. Bonus points for having milk alternatives available with the coffee. My order: Chicken Giant Burger ($19.75) Chicken & Biscuits w/ Gravy ($16) Coffee

Was searching Vancouver for a good greasy soon diner. I found what I was looking for right here at Deacon's Corner. I was craving a classic biscuits, gravy and hash browns. This delivered! I had breakfast here and was full until mid-afternoon. Hit the spot!

Wow, wow, wow I really loved this place. The food was probably the best we've had all weekend in Vancouver. The waiters were extremely nice and made time to chat with us during our time there. Not sure if it's women-owned but it was super cool to see only women staff.

Old school diner nothing fancy. I had the fried chicken eggs Benny it was okay. The hollandaise wasn't the best. The fried chicken was the best part if I was to go again I would try their chicken burger instead. My partner had corned beef hash. It wasn't the best. The meat was so fatty the ratio of peppers to everything else was also way off(way too much). The pepper could have done with a few more mins on the top. It gets a 3* the service was good the ladies were nice and we were seated pretty quickly for a Sunday.

Fun, funky, cute diner vibes. Generous portions for breakfast. Great bread for our toast.

Deacon's Corner has the perfect balance of old school diner meets contemporary cool foodie hangout. Do not let my photographs fool you. There were always people coming in and out of Deacon's Corner with smiles on their faces and a nice thing to say. (I just like to try and respect people's privacy when I can.) In fact the serving staff were so super friendly and cheerful, you can not help but be in a good mood when you visit. One of the guests told us that before their recent renovations the place truly looked like it had been plucked out of the 60s, but with all the wear and tear, so the changes were great improvements. I loved it. A perfect blend of retro and modern. We both ordered the Carolina Pulled Pork and Pancakes but got the mini (yes, that is the small portion) which Chef J. C. (Juan Carlo) used his creative and artistic foodie talents to make extra special for us! Oh my goodness I could not stop laughing when this adorable plate came to our table! And wow, WOW, it was so good! The eggs were butter-basted, the pulled pork sweet but not too sweet, absolutely delicious, and I think those were the fluffiest pancakes I have ever had. I have not stopped thinking about this delicious brunch since I indulged... Deacon's Corner may not have been around since the 50s (they opened in 2009) but it has to be one of the coolest diners I have ever visited. Its location bridges East Van and Gastown so its setting is a little rough around the edges but the customers and staff make it feel like home. It was the perfect brunch. Everything was charming and the food? OMG, the food was so delicious. I MUST go back! You can find my full review here: http://www.suziethefoodie.com/brunch-deacons-corner-gastown/

Came here on Sunday with a group of 5 that quickly became of a group of 7; most places would flip out over this very fact, but the folks at Deacons just grabbed more cutlery and menus and made us feel right at home. Our waitress happily jumped up on a chair and took a sweet team photo of all 7 of us and she split the bills out without even being asked to. The portions here are masssssive (my pancake was the size of a dinner plate: fluffy and amazing), the service is fast and efficient and the prices are most definitely right. We came here for a boozy breakfast and managed to drink Deacon's out of vodka, but they happily ran over to the liquor store to buy more: hooray!

The wait times can be a hit or miss, but I'm happy enjoying a Hugo Spritz and waiting. Sooo delicious!…read more Butternut squash ravioli with prawns is a must get. It is pretty heavy so would recommend getting it to share. Ravioli has a great slight chew texture, not mushy despite being a butternut squash puree inside, and HUGE juicy prawns on top. Green goddess salad was a nice balance to compliment the ravioli, super fresh ingredients and great ratio with good amount of avocado. The Bellini slush was basically like a peach ring but not sickingly sweet like peach rings and more refreshing like actual fruit. Can't really taste the alcohol in it but could feel it. The calamari was okay, it could be crispier and have more squid/less dough but the flavor with the slight kick and Sichuan flavor is nice. Just not my preference of texture. The wagyu beef carpaccio was fun to eat and assemble but I would say you're paying more for the experience of assembling the perfect little bite because once you put together everything the beef flavor is sort of masked but I do enjoy the slight tang from the greens and pickled veges in contrast to the buttered bread. The cactus burger was a pretty solid big burger with well seasoned mushrooms, not too salty or greasy. Enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the light fry on them. We also sat outside which has heaters so I definitely recommend as it was less noisy and chaotic compared to inside during dinner time. All the employees are very nice too. TLDR: Get the butternut squash ravioli with prawns to share. Get the bellini as a drink. Burger and fries were solid choices that can't miss.

We arrived and placed ourselves on the waitlist. We waited about 45-60 minutes total. But boy oh boy was it worth it! The restaurant is a Mediterranean inspired breakfast/lunch/ brunch. The interior was warm and inviting. The hostess and our server were both very sweet and provided great customer service. We started with coffees. My husband ordered espresso and I had a salted caramel latte. Both coffees were great - they had bold flavor and the froth on my latte was fluffy (bonus points for the cute latte art). For our entrees, my husband ordered the Fricassée. The short rib was tender and delicious! The tomato sauce was also amazing. Just wanted to note that the sauce was a bit more on the tangy side. I ordered the Cassoulet. The tomato sauce on this one was my favorite as it was a perfect balance between tangy and savory. I also really enjoyed the white beans which helped add to the body of the meal. The grilled focaccia is perfection! They're crisp and crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. We used the focaccia to devour every last bit of the tomato sauces from our plates. I don't really run into Mediterranean breakfast often. But Medina Cafe and these shakshuka inspired dishes have definitely won us over. I'd come back and wait in line all over again. Yum!

Crispy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and the kind of dish I would come back for all by itself. The Les Boulettes were packed with flavor and so satisfying. The waffle was also perfection, which says a lot because I'm really not a sweets person. The latte felt downright lavish. Smooth, rich, and beautifully done. The martini definitely did the trick. Between the food, drinks, and overall experience, Medina Cafe is absolutely worth a visit. The service was fantastic, I'd happily come back, especially for those potatoes because I'm still thinking about them!

Jam Cafe, Vancouver Jam Cafe is my favorite brunch spot. Anywhere. That sounds like an exaggeration. It isn't. I've been traveling to Vancouver for work for almost a decade, and every single trip includes a stop at Jam. If I'm lucky, two. I've also become that coworker who convinces everyone to meet outside at 7:45 in the morning so we can be part of the first seating at 8:00. Thankfully, we're all from the East Coast and have been awake since 5:00 anyway. Over the years I've successfully JAMfluenced more business travelers than I'd like to admit. And yes, it's still worth the wait even if you're not first in line. The restaurant itself is tiny. Cozy farmhouse vibes, mismatched decorations covering the walls, and maybe 15 tables between the dining room and patio. It feels more like someone's favorite neighborhood breakfast spot than one of Vancouver's brunch institutions. The menu is comfort food turned up to eleven. Everything is indulgent, creative, and somehow still balanced. You can tell the kitchen starts with great ingredients because every component tastes like it could stand on its own. I try to branch out every visit... and then usually end up ordering the Tater Tot Bowl anyway. Crispy tater tots, buffalo sauce, Mexican street corn relish, and ridiculously good pulled pork. It's the kind of dish that sounds like it shouldn't work, but every bite somehow gets better than the last. And then there are the cinnamon roll pancakes. They are enormous. They're also one of the best brunch dishes I've ever eaten. Birdfluencer Lorraine M. declared them the best pancakes she's ever had, and after several visits, I don't have much of an argument. Service is exactly what it needs to be. Friendly, efficient, and quick. The staff knows there's a line forming outside before the doors even open, but you never feel rushed. Overall, Jam Cafe has officially become part of my Vancouver tradition. At this point, a work trip to the city doesn't really start until I've had breakfast here. If you're visiting Vancouver and only have time for one brunch, this would be my pick without a second thought.

I had the gravy coop - grilled pork belly on biscuits with gravy. It doesn't actually come with that much gravy - I had to order more. The biscuit is excellent - crunchy, consistent. I loved the pork belly. Crispy and chewy, really good. The gravy is good though I wouldn't say it stands out. The combination works for sure. The hash browns though aren't anything special. Oh and the portions are huge. I would come back to try their pancakes and French toast. I would make a reservation first though!

On this visit, we were there for brunch, and I tried their new Nashville hot chicken and waffles. They were really good. The hot chicken wasn't overly spicy, but just enough to give it an extra zip that regular chicken and waffles didn't have. I also had a dessert that was kind of like bananas Foster cake. It was sort of a chocolate banana cake with caramelized banana slices on top and scoops of ice cream above that. Delicious.
