Avoid this company!!…read more For the past three weeks, I have been attempting to have someone from BEST Kitchens and Baths to get back in touch with me regarding a bathroom remodel completed in 2019 that has workmanship errors now causing damage to my home. Following the work being completed in 2019, BEST provides a two year warranty which was a huge selling point when I selected them to do the work in my home. I reached out over three weeks ago on Saturday May 15th via email. I did not receive any reply until Thursday May 20th, when they stated that they would have a project manager assist. Since that initial reply, I have emailed three times with no response as well as called three times, left voicemails and have still had no contact. The result is now the initial issue is getting worse and causing more damage to my home with BEST choosing to ignore my contact entirely.

We hired BEST to build a 400-sq-ft addition on our home. The project was scheduled to begin March…read more3, 2019, and we were told it would take 8 weeks. March 3rd came and went with no communication. After a few days, we contacted BEST and were told there was some hold up with the permit. It became immediately apparent that BEST, and the project manager Ben McBride, were completely unfamiliar with the permitting process. We finally broke ground on April 23, 2019, seven weeks late. We were assured it would still be an 8-week project. As with the permitting process, it became undeniable that BEST had no idea what it was doing. Our impression was that there were no plans for one step of the project until the previous step was completely done. So, for example, the foundation was finally completed (which took 2 tries), and only then did BEST start to figure out how to do the framing. So, between each step, there was typically a delay of 4-6 weeks as BEST tried to figure out what to do next. And during this entire process, there was next-to-no communication. We regularly went 6-8 weeks with no contact, and then one day a sub-contractor would show up at our house. In Fall 2019, one member of BEST started coming to our house every day. At first, we thought this was a sign of good things to come, and maybe the project would start moving again. We have now discovered that almost everything this person did was done incorrectly (e.g. interior framing). While this employee was coming to our house, there was no oversight or supervision. We were made many promises that were either forgotten or ignored. We were told someone from BEST would be at our house every day while the project was going on - this never happened. We were told there would be regular walk-throughs to discuss progress and next steps - this never happened. We finally moved in to our new space on February 17, 2020, about 10 months after we broke ground (on the 8-week project). After moving in, we developed a short punch list that consisted of mainly cosmetic issues. As of the writing of this review (August 25, 2020), we believe we have said goodbye to BEST for the last time. The punch list was only recently completed (as much as we think it will be) after another 6 months have passed, and some items have been either ignored or forgotten (interior paint and drywall repair/touch-ups). That first experience really burned me, so I can confidently say that CRJ is miles and miles above the competition. They converted a tub/shower combo to a shower with a bench and two shower heads, and installed new tile, paint, a new vanity, added an outlet, installed a bidet, and lighting. The work was completed quickly, the work done well, and I'm just obsessed with how gorgeous it looks now! PROS - My bathroom looks AMAZING. - They are fast while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail. The whole job from start to finish was mind-blowingly fast, even though they had to do major things like add a second shower head, remove a tub to create a larger shower + bench, make a door a pocket door, install new electrical, etc. - Jose, who did the bulk of work for us, was incredible. It's clear that he took a lot of care and pride in what he does, and the bathroom is STUNNING as a result of his hard work. He was also just conscientious and kind to work with, explaining the process and doing his best to ensure that while I was on important work calls he wasn't doing the loudest parts of his work day. - Yanet was very communicative and, when minor things came up, took immediate ownership of any mistakes or miscommunications. She was so good about checking in and it just felt like a respectful way of handling communication and making sure everyone was on the same page. - Their estimates and contracts/invoices are detailed and make it easy to reference and to ensure you've covered your bases and that you aren't billed in the end for a number of surprises you weren't anticipating. - They took really intentional care throughout the process to protect our flooring, furniture, to be be mindful of where we wanted various things placed, and to just make sure things were progressing on schedule. - Their pricing is very competitive, especially for the quality of work they do. AREAS THAT WEREN'T PERFECT (It's hard to say cons because they are so minor) - They do not give you a supply list of things to buy or even a general sense of what you're responsible for versus what they're responsible for beyond 1-2 items. - The need for supplies would come up at weird times, so I'd have to go buy a really specific part that I didn't know about that was needed that day. This could have been mitigated with a more comprehensive list. Since I didn't get a list and am not a professional, I didn't know what those things were and it was inconvenient to leave work mid-day. I ended up returning a lot of it as well, which isn't a huge deal but I wish the number of items I needed to buy had been more accurate. - Due to a miscommunication about shower glass, we had to rush order ours when the project was nearly complete as we were under the impression that they were handling this. This set the project back by several weeks. This one irked me because I had sent them a list of all supplies needed before work ever began and had asked them to fill in any gaps. We'd asked multiple times about the finishes on the glass doors and they'd reassured us they could make sure they were the correct color but never flagged that we were responsible for the glass, again despite some very detailed lists verbal conversations where I understood they were getting the glass.

They were supposed to start 09/19 but didn't actually start until 09/29. They told us 12 days on site but they took much longer and were not good about communicating when they would or would not be there. They took over half of our garage with gear and supplies with no discussion at all. They did a really bad job protecting our belongings from massive amounts of dust (or they could have told us that would be an issue so we could have moved more things before the project began). For example, they didn't put any covering over the vented door to our storage room so absolutely every single item in that room will need to be cleaned. They piled many giant bags of trash along both sides of our driveway. We asked them each day for 5 days to remove trash without any trash removal and our neighbors complained. People on site worked hard and long hours and did mostly good work, but they didn't speak much English and it was hard to get in touch with supervisors. There was minimal work done in our living space - just some overhead lights - but they left this space a huge mess: drywall dust coating everything, even in rooms they hadn't been in at all and there was minimal cleanup even after we complained. They turned our water was off for more than 24 with no advance notice. In addition to the items that I was told I would need to supply, there were numerous trips to Home Depot that I was expected to pay for over the phone. To top it all off, I had to change the bathtub (not because of anything CRJ did) and I found the drain was not property installed, so if we had used it, it would have caused a huge mess.

We paid $6,300 for a bathroom remodel that included vanity installation, plumbing and electrical modifications, drywall work, wallpaper installation, and finish work. What we received was defective workmanship, property damage, months of delays, and thousands of dollars in additional costs to correct the work. The wallpaper installation failed and damaged approximately $2,200 worth of wallpaper. The wallpaper removal and installation process also caused damage to the walls and baseboards. We were told the issue would be corrected, but instead we spent approximately two months waiting while our bathroom sat in an unfinished and unsightly condition. We later learned that the vanity had been installed improperly and had to hire another contractor to inspect and correct the installation. Had we not sought a second opinion, we could have been facing even more costly repairs or replacement. The most frustrating part was the lack of accountability and resolution. Despite requesting an itemized breakdown of costs during the project and throughout the dispute, none was provided. We did not receive an itemized allocation of the $6,300 project price until after legal counsel became involved. At this point, we have received estimates of approximately $3,950 just to remove and reinstall improperly completed work, remove failed wallpaper, prepare the walls, and reinstall wallpaper correctly. That does not include the value of the damaged wallpaper itself or the time, stress, and inconvenience caused by months of dealing with these issues. Some portions of the work may remain in place, but much of what we paid for must be repaired, corrected, or completely redone by other professionals. We hired Brothers 59 Construction expecting quality workmanship and a finished bathroom we could enjoy. Instead, we were left with damaged materials, defective work, prolonged delays, additional expenses, and a project that still requires significant correction. Save yourself the heartache, time and money and choose a contractor who actually delivers on their promise, doesn't gouge you and delivers a professional product.

Hired this guy to build front and back stairs and replace a rear door on our home. The wood used in…read morethe stairs was not treated and some of the wood used had pieces missing and gouged out. One stair on each set of stairs were pieced together as well as the hand rail in the front set of stairs. He bought the wrong door for the back and bought a new one which did not fit either. He cut the bottom of the floor and put screws in it leaving the metal exposed. The threshold was crooked and he tried to build a frame around the door instead of getting a pre hung door and frame. There were 1" gaps on both sides and the door was missing a hinge. Whe I told him about my concerns, his reply was "I knew you would be a problem". I had to buy weather strip to close the gaps and now have to buy a pre hung door and replace the wood on the stairs and line it up correctly. We paid him $2,230 dollars and now we have to repair all this stuff. DO NOT hire this guys unless you want to repair all the mistakes made. I also felt provoked and threatened, because the HOA mgr. Due to his dishonesty, I felt it was warranted to tell my truth. Pure Choice Construction was hired by the ACCU, Inc. HOA mgmt company for my townhome community to replace 46 decks for each homeowner. On 9/30/24 my deck was torn down. On 10/1/24 Pure Choice workers cut the underground cable line which disrupted my service for over 10 hrs. Although both the cable and utility companies flagged the work area to alert the workers where NOT to dig. Nick NEVER offered to get my services restored, he didn't even offer to compensate me until I said it's only fair that I be compensated. Only then he offered a small compensation, which I appreciated. It took me several hours of phones calls on my cell phone, (because my landline, tv, wifi and internet were all disconnected), and emails to no vail to both Nick and the HOA office. I took it upon myself and contracted my cable company, who requested a work service order for me, and was scheduled for 10/2/24. The cable company's quick response was due to my heart diagnosis, and I needed to have my landline available in case of a medical emergency. Being a senior, this horrible experience caused me immense stress, both emotionally and medically which should have NOT been my responsibility to rectify. I hope Pure Choice make sure their workers are skilled, experienced and licensed in the future to avoid this dilema happening to another medically compromised senior.
