Reckless, careless driving

On the way home at 6pm this evening, the driver of bus 1902, literally almost sideswiped us for no other reason than traffic on E Street NW. No signal, nothing! If this is how the rest of your drivers drive ... best of luck to you.

We had a 48hrs pass for the DC trails and we took full advantage. My sister download their app so that helped us with finding where the buses would be at next or how soon the would show up. Make sure if you want to do the twilight tour call ahead of time and schedule to get on the list, because this actually sells out especially on the weekends. We were able to do the twilight tour with Anthony (driver) and Henry K our tour guide, they were absolutely amazing. Henry goes that extra mile to make sure you're having a good time and he gives you a good back ground story for the monuments. We really enjoyed the one on Martin Luther King Jr. When we return to DC we will definitely use this again the rest of the driver's and other tour guides we encountered we're also friendly.

My husband and I recently visited D.C. with our families for a weekend getaway. I wanted to be sure we covered as much ground as possible in the short time we were there so I booked the hop-on hop-off bus tour. There is just so much to see and do, which requires a lot of walking, so the logistics alone can be time consuming. I figured if we did the bus tour we could take a loop around the city to see the monuments from a reasonable distance and then decide where to go. It worked out perfectly! We were able to sit comfortably on the top level to enjoy the sunshine and breeze as we listened to the tour guide divulge tons of information on the buildings, history, politicians, and socialites of D.C. The tour was entertaining, educational, and fun all at the same time! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Our tour guides Robert and Brittany.. What a duo and our BONNIE & CLYDE for stealing and maintaining our attention.

Well from the different reviews I see its been a hit or miss for its customers. For myself and my family of 12 it was a BAM HOMERUN out the park.... Our Tour guides, Robert who safely drove the Bus around ro each great location and Brittany who was full of smiles and Historical information made our visit to Washington extremely memoriable. The truth is most of us came home doing more research on all the statues, monuments and buildings we visited. Brittany left us simply salivating with desire to learn more. Our kiddies were so elated with the experience they too could not stop talking about it. Robert and Brittany who were dubbed Bonnie & Clyde simply were flawless and unlike the original Bonnie & Clyde the only criminal activity these 2 did was steal our attention with every turn and stop. Kudos to them two and if you travel to DC and book DC Trails make sure to ask for them both. In addition, the bus we traveled on had AC keeping those of us who chose not to ride the top feeling comfortable and cool. Im telling you the stars were aligned perfectly this day for DC Tours. We visited several places, Iwo Jima Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, to name a few. It was both exciting due to Brittanys great historical imformation while managing to smile throughtout every minute and Roberts flawless driving skills getting us to each location. Cant say enough on the satisfaction we all felt after our tour. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this tour and dont forget to ask for them 2. Even show them this review so they can see how well of an impression they left on us.... Enjoy my YelperKNIGHTS!!!!.

Great tour, saw so much. Brittany was fun, educational and made the trip great. I would highly recommend this tour. Monuments are beautiful at night. The top of the bus is a great way to see the city, kids age 14 and 16 really enjoyed themselves. Be prepared for walking.

We toom the DC Trails hop on hop off 48 hour tour and it was a great way to see the city. Our favorite part was the evening twilight tour and is a must do if you take this tour. Tamara especially was a phenomenal tour guide and if you're lucky to have her for your night tour you will learn so much from her.

Riding the open-air top part of the bus.

So we got to the Lorton VRE station about an hour earlier than our 7:20am departure and I'm glad We did. The lot was surprisingly full for it being a Saturday. I highly recommend first time Vamoose users using the Lorton lot because of its convenience. Our bus arrived about 15min early and BILL was our driver. Weight of baggages weren't checked and neither were our id's; just verify your name and you're good. After filling up the bus in Rosslyn, we hit the road. Overall the trip took like 5hrs thanks to rain and traffic. No Vamoose staff are at the Lorton station...FYI. NYC TO LORTON... No hiccups getting the bus but beware if you catch the 4:30pm bus returning to Northern Virginia you will most likely hit traffic. Our trip took around 5-5.5hrs with traffic in NJ and DE. Bill again was our driver. THE VAMOOSE EXPERIENCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE... Originally I had booked a 7:20am LORTON departure on a Saturday(8/23) with a return departure for Sunday(8/24) at 8:30pm but had to make a couple changes on the return. Sunday afternoon, after seeing everything we wanted to see we decided to attempt an earlier return. The Vamoose call center person politely put us three on the 6:30pm bus back to Lorton. We were happy with that. But once 3pm came around we again felt the urge to come back home...earlier. So we called back and again the call center was able to put us in a even EARLIER bus; the 4:30pm. Five stars for working with a undecided customer(me)! Changes were made at no extra cost. Bill, the driver drove very...spirited I must say :) maybe he was driving with both feet, I don't know but there was lots of panic breaking. It was okay though, he was overall a safe driver and got us there and back fairly quick. One stop each way for a quick restroom break. While at LORTON, this person thought she booked a Saturday Lorton to NYC trip when in reality it was scheduled for Sunday. The Vamoose staff at Rosslyn allowed her to stay on only because someone had missed the bus (that route was initially sold-out). Again, the Vamoose staff was very professional and courteous with her mistake. SUMMARY I highly recommend people use Vamoose and catch their buses leaving out of LORTON. You can't beat being able to park for free and not having to rely on the metro or a ride to catch the Rosslyn bus. Not to mention you'll be the first on the bus and get the best seats ;) As other users are saying, the regular buses are a bit bumpy but just bring some good headphones or ear plugs and you'll be good. Do yourself a favor and bring ear plus. Thanks Vamoose...see you again I'm October!

Our destination arrival time was 11:30PM. It was just me and my sister and it was pitched dark outside. The vamoose baggage handler asked us if we had a ride and we said we did. He was kind enough to hang around to wait w/ us until our ride came. He definitely didn't have to do that, but we were v grateful that he was there!

Back-office: They were on-time, easily contacted and very responsive. The busses: They were clean, roomy, had the ever important power at each seat and the ride was enjoyable. We spent four days on these buses and would travel 4 hours at a time so I spent a LOT of time on them and came away pleased. The drivers: This is what sets a company apart. We had a group with three drivers. The other two drivers I came into less frequent contact, but the others in the party said that they were just as exceptional. We had T. Brown and I would HIGHLY recommend him as your driver. 30+ years driving city buses, the calm attitude of the Dhali Lama, the ability to weave thru traffic like Mario Andretti, knowledge of DC like he's been here his whole life (he has!). I would recommend this group to you any time you have the opportunity to need a tour bus or charter bus in the Washington area.

NOT OKAY. Initial review: Bought a groupon for this tour well in advance of our trip. The company offers an app so you know where the stops are, what you can visit, and where the busses are in relation to the stops. Very handy. Over all the actual tour was great, lots of information and stops. The problem comes when you look at how many busses are running. We came on a slower day (grey and drizzly Thursday in October). We were told that busses leave stop one every 1/2 hour. We boarded at noon and did a loop to figure out where we wanted to spend our time, got off at stop one to use the bathroom at 3:00pm there were 3 busses out of service. We ran to the food court to use the restroom, and we were back at the stop at 3:23. We were told we missed the bus because she dispatched it at 3:15. There were still 3 busses out of service just sitting there. When we questioned the 1/2 hour rule she said "oh I dispatch from here when I feel like it" we were like WTF $150 and we were expected to wait for 45 minutes for the next bus? That and our ticket was good for 24 hours but they wouldn't let us board the bus after 5 pm. We apparently needed a different ticket to use the bus for the night?!? If that was the case then it should have been a day use ticket with hours specified. Not a 24 hour pass. I bought this Groupon even though it was more expensive than other tours because it read like we could use the busses for a 24 hour period as long as they were running. This turned out not to be the case. In the end. We decided to walk an catch an uber to our last destination. As we were walking we noticed that other toe companies had way more busses running. My advise... go with BIG BUS tours. They seem like they have way more frequency in their stops.

They worked with us to revise our itinerary up to the last minute. The drivers were on time and patient with our group. The bad: - They accidentally charged us twice and had to give back the money from the 2nd charge (they weren't supposed to but internal miscommunication in them). - One of the drivers they selected drove terribly (recklessly and unstably) - The driver put the wrong address so that we were heading to the same street in the city borough instead of the actual city, where we were supposed to. I had to check with the driver to get him back on course. - buses were old and not great

AVOID THIS BUS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!…read more The incompetence of this company's management, staff, and drivers on the day of my daughter's wedding caused us angst, anger, and exasperation, not to mention we lost an hour of the wedding reception on that evening this past September. My daughter contracted with United Bus to have three coach buses transport 56 people each from a hotel in Alexandria, Virginia, to a wedding venue in the Mount Vernon area about 20 miles away, then back again after the reception at 11 p.m. on September 14, 2019. Allowing for a 20- to 25-minute drive, we figured the passengers would board between 4 and 4:15 p.m. and arrive at the venue no later than 4:50 p.m. The ceremony was scheduled to start at 5 p.m. So at 4 p.m. on Sept. 14 at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria, how many United Bus Charter buses showed up? One. When did Bus No. 2 show up? At 5:20 p.m. When did the third bus show up for the 4 p.m. pickup? Never. A comedy of errors and incompetence left nearly 100 guests waiting in the hotel lobby, so our wedding planner and her assistant quickly set up an Uber code tied to my account to start ferrying guests to the venue as they waited for the second and third buses to arrive at the hotel. Some guests used the code, others just paid themselves, and by the time Bus No. 2 arrived - 80 minutes late! - only seven guests and the wedding planner assistant were left. This 55-person bus departed with eight passengers at around 5:30 p.m. and arrived at 5:55, so the ceremony didn't begin until 6 - one full hour late. This hour delay caused the reception - scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. - to start at 8, meaning we lost an hour of the reception, a full 60 minutes of fun and laughter and dancing, because the venue could not extend beyond 11 p.m. because of noise ordinances and worker considerations. THERE'S MORE: After the reception, there was another bus issue. The third bus finally had arrived, so three buses were lined up in the parking lot, packed with our guests and ready to take them to a bar in Old Town Alexandria for an after-party. One bus departed on time, a little after 11 p.m., while the other two buses idled and prepared to leave. But one of the buses, driven by the same woman who was 80 minutes late for the afternoon pickup, took the wrong exit lane and could not navigate a left-hand turn out of the parking lot - in fact, she hit a fence with the bus, causing damage to the fence and the bus. Then, to add insult to injury, this incompetent driver was unable to back up the bus correctly and maneuver it to a point where she could make a right-hand turn to loop around and take the correct lane out. Her bus blocked the third bus from departing, so 100-plus guests were left stranded on these buses FOR 45 MINUTES! Finally, the driver of the other bus had to get out of his vehicle, take the wheel of her bus, and back up her vehicle so that his bus could get through and her bus could make a right turn, loop around the parking lot, and take the correct lane to finally get out of the lot. Yes, this company's bus driver was unable to maneuver her vehicle in reverse. Beginning on Monday, Sept. 16, we began emailing and calling the bus company to get information on how this situation unfolded and to request a full refund. These efforts were met with more unbelievable incompetence from the company's staff. First, we were told the company's owner was out of the country, unreachable, and would be back "next week," meaning the week of Sept. 23. We eventually found out that he was indeed reachable and had access to the internet, yet he was unable to send us even one email from his account? To say something like, "I understand your frustration and will deal with this when I return from abroad on so-and-so date." In the meantime, the wedding venue sent an email to the United Bus representative who had facilitated the contract, and her response was laughable and almost unintelligible. This response led the wedding venue to ban the bus company from its site, saying, "It sounds to me as if your company owes this family some compensation for the situation they had to endure regarding the timing and professionalism of your drivers. With regard to our venue, we will not be allowing United Bus back at our property as a vendor, and will be informing our clients of this." We continued to call and email the company and were met with more incompetence and delay tactics. "Next week" become the following week before finally the owner picked up his phone. After some back-and-forth, the owner said that he "wasn't proud" of his company's performance that day but would not be giving us a full refund as we requested. In the end, the United Bus owner offered less than a one-third refund, and after consulting with a lawyer, we decided to accept the offer rather than deal with this incompetent company any further. All in all, I would STRONGLY suggest not using United Bus Charter for any reason.

I decided to move forward with the booking, and was asked to resubmit the information I had already provided for some reason in a Reservation form (why did they not just have me use the reservation form from the beginning? Your guess is as good as mine). Once I received the booking confirmation, the total was over $500 more than I was quoted for. There was a travel fee, service fee, and credit card processing fee that was not disclosed to me prior to booking. Astonished, I called the company and the coordinator named Tony proceeded to blame ME for the price discrepancy, telling me that while I provided the pickup location name, I did not write the *city* of the pickup location in my initial inquiry. It turns out that the distance from DC warranted an additional $300 that I was not made aware of. Sir, if you are too lazy to google the pickup location and needed me to provide the city information in order to provide me an accurate quote, it is your job and responsibility to ask me for that information prior to sending the quote. I can't read minds, and I'm not here for the gaslighting. Additionally, every vendor quote I have been given thus far included ALL fees, including service/credit card processing fees, so that I as a customer can make an informed decision. Concealing these fees until after the booking is confirmed (even if they are hidden somewhere in the website's fine print) feels extremely dishonest and slimy. In summary, I do not recommend this company. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and extremely sketchy. Please be aware that the price you are quoted for is likely not even close to what you will actually need to pay for their service, and you won't find out the actual total until they have your credit card information.
