Took this bus for the first time for a quick weekend getaway to New York and overall the experience was great. Below are the details... LORTON TO NYC.... So we got to the Lorton VRE station about an hour earlier than our 7:20am departure and I'm glad We did. The lot was surprisingly full for it being a Saturday. I highly recommend first time Vamoose users using the Lorton lot because of its convenience. Our bus arrived about 15min early and BILL was our driver. Weight of baggages weren't checked and neither were our id's; just verify your name and you're good. After filling up the bus in Rosslyn, we hit the road. Overall the trip took like 5hrs thanks to rain and traffic. No Vamoose staff are at the Lorton station...FYI. NYC TO LORTON... No hiccups getting the bus but beware if you catch the 4:30pm bus returning to Northern Virginia you will most likely hit traffic. Our trip took around 5-5.5hrs with traffic in NJ and DE. Bill again was our driver. THE VAMOOSE EXPERIENCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE... Originally I had booked a 7:20am LORTON departure on a Saturday(8/23) with a return departure for Sunday(8/24) at 8:30pm but had to make a couple changes on the return. Sunday afternoon, after seeing everything we wanted to see we decided to attempt an earlier return. The Vamoose call center person politely put us three on the 6:30pm bus back to Lorton. We were happy with that. But once 3pm came around we again felt the urge to come back home...earlier. So we called back and again the call center was able to put us in a even EARLIER bus; the 4:30pm. Five stars for working with a undecided customer(me)! Changes were made at no extra cost. Bill, the driver drove very...spirited I must say :) maybe he was driving with both feet, I don't know but there was lots of panic breaking. It was okay though, he was overall a safe driver and got us there and back fairly quick. One stop each way for a quick restroom break. While at LORTON, this person thought she booked a Saturday Lorton to NYC trip when in reality it was scheduled for Sunday. The Vamoose staff at Rosslyn allowed her to stay on only because someone had missed the bus (that route was initially sold-out). Again, the Vamoose staff was very professional and courteous with her mistake. SUMMARY I highly recommend people use Vamoose and catch their buses leaving out of LORTON. You can't beat being able to park for free and not having to rely on the metro or a ride to catch the Rosslyn bus. Not to mention you'll be the first on the bus and get the best seats ;) As other users are saying, the regular buses are a bit bumpy but just bring some good headphones or ear plugs and you'll be good. We missed our other bus and booked Vamoose last min. They are very organized. The NYC line was already forming when we made our way there. Check-in was quick. Our destination arrival time was 11:30PM. It was just me and my sister and it was pitched dark outside. The vamoose baggage handler asked us if we had a ride and we said we did. He was kind enough to hang around to wait w/ us until our ride came. He definitely didn't have to do that, but we were v grateful that he was there! read more

Bus is very prompt. The Lorton station is great because it is FREE parking. Everyone lined up (right by the pedestrian walkway). The guy checks in (at 8:30am, he was not the friendliest, but that's okay). Quick drive (stopped in Arlington to pick people up) and it was a packed bus. Note - get your tickets early. It will sell out a few days before the departure/arrival date. Also, all rows do NOT have outlets. Keep that in mind. read more

I am writing to file a complaint about our recent trip to NYC on a Vamoose bus. We have used these buses a few times in the past and always had a wonderful experience but not this time. The bus coming and going were very clean and the drivers pleasant for the most part but there were some inconsistency's that I think you'd like to know about. 1. On the trip to NY on 6/29 the driver was driving So FAST!! We had 3 near misses while on 95, other side of Baltimore. Unacceptable. Mostly due to speed I think. 2. On the trip back on 7/1 that driver was also driving fast but not as fast as the driver on the 29th. We could really feel it as he was taking the curves around 495 near Silver Spring. 3. When we got back to Lorton, one customer got his bag out of the luggage storage because the driver opened it then went to stand by the door. That same customer pulled out everyone else's bag and the driver just stayed by the door. The driver didn't even say thank you. Very sad. I am writing because I really like the Vamoose Bus line but I don't think I will take it again because of the unsafe driving. There are other companies that do the same thing so thinking of trying them next time if this is your new standard.....speed over safety. read more

We caught the bus at the Lorton VRE station. It was great not to have to go into DC to catch a bus. The bus was on time and the crew was great with loading bags and check-in. We left on a Friday and came back on Sunday, so left our vehicle in the VRE lot the whole time. No issues as there were several other people doing the same. The lot is not huge, so if you depart during the week, recommend you go early or else commuters will have the lot full. There were only a few people on the bus when we left Lorton, but it filled up completely when we stopped in Arlington (Rosslyn). Except for a couple of annoying loud-mouths in the back of the bus that the driver had to keep asking to keep it down, the trip was quite pleasant. The seats were comfy with plenty of room. The bathroom was...well...a bus bathroom. But, it had obviously been cleaned before arrival, so it was not bad. The wi-fi was extremely slow, but not a major deal. The bus stopped just down from Penn Station next to Madison Square Garden. Leaving NY took some patience. We had reservations, but still got a little nervous when we saw how long the line was. People start lining up about 45 minutes early for the return trip. Nontheless, we got seats and the bus departed on time. They are well organized and kept things moving. We highly recommend Vamoose. read more

Loved the fact that I didn't have to drive to DC and pay crazy parking rates while I traveled to NYC.

Second time riding this service and the first time was great. Second time the bus made a buzzing/rattling noise the whole time that was annoying and loud. Not a quiet ride for 4.5 hours. Of course, I left my headphones at home! Since this bus is pricier than others, I am giving a 3 star because the bus was not a smooth ride. Wifi is weak. Its clean. I have not tried the Gold bus. read more

As a first time rider, I have mixed emotions about the Vamoose Bus service. The prices were great, but there weren't a lot of schedules to choose from. The ride from Lorton to NYC was fantastic. We left at 6:50am and it seemed smooth sailing until we got to Lincoln Tunnel of course. The driver did a great job and it was a smooth ride. On the way home, we were scheduled to depart NYC at 4:30pm but were ready to get home so we called Vamoose customer service and were able to get on the 4:00pm no problem with no change fees which was great. The process once we got to line up and board is another story. It was total chaos and confusion. We were told first come first serve; however, because the 2 couples behind us asked for assistance with their bags, somehow that meant they could also board before us. Probably shouldn't be a big deal just rather annoying and for someone who gets severe motion sickness where seat selection is important and who showed up extremely early to get a seat that accommodates, it's kind of a big deal. In addition to all of that, the driver going home certainly had a different style than the previous. She was all over the place and it made for an anxious ride. At one point I wanted to ask if she was ok because we kept swerving into the other lane. Not sure if it was just an off day, but it was certainly a different experience going home. If however the price is the most important thing, than not totally a horrible service. Personally, I will be choosing another method of transportation on my next trip to NYC. read more

I was leary about taking this bus to NY, thinking it may be like one of the Mega Buses with the poor safety ratings or a Greyhound experience; it was nothing like either of those! A family member used this company last year for the same trip and was perfectly satisfied. IMO-this bus service is the way to go. What a deal! $50 roundtrip, it would have been $40 if I had booked a week earlier, you can't go wrong. Three of us departed from the Lorton stop on a Sunday morning, the earliest departure at 650am. Because the Farmer's Market was not in operation, where to park our car for the three days was not an issue. It is advised that during Farmer's Market season, you avoid parking in that area. The bus arrived about 10 minutes prior to departure. I had tickets in hand, but they just asked for names and marked them off of a list. Our luggage was carefully placed under the bus in the storage area. I was pleasantly surprised to find a spotless bus, that looked brand spanking new. Because there were no restrooms at the VRE lot, I was in need upon boarding the bus. A tight squeeze for even me, a very small person, but it was clean. The bus was less than half full, which was very nice for us, giving everyone plenty of stretching out space. Our driver, Fred, told us he may or may not stop along the way; he did not. That was fine with us, as it put us in NY earlier than anticipated with no traffic issues. Once departing the bus, we gathered our bags and hailed a cab. Our departure day was a Tuesday, at 230pm. We arrived about an hour earlier than departure. There was already a line formed for an earlier bus. The VAMoose staff members were courteous and professional. Once again, no tickets shown, just names asked for. When our luggage was taken, we were asked what stop we were getting off at, so they sorted them properly under the bus. We were thrilled to have Fred as our driver once again. He was polite and drove safely. This bus too was less than half full. During both of our trips, the noise level of other passengers was extemely low to almost nothing. The ride back to Lorton took about 5.5 hours due to traffic, rain and having to drop off other passengers in Arlington. I would definitely use their service again for my next NYC trip. It makes for a stress-free trip leaving the driving to someone else and saving the hassle of parking/ fees at your hotel. read more
