Complimentary Shuttle to and from Kennedy Centre to Foggy Bottom Metro Stop! This is just amazing. We were there for The Reach opening week event so there was not any issue getting on the shuttle after a few minute wait. The alternative would be walking or taking Uber? PS we did walk all the way to Kennedy Centre from National Mall.

Shuttle was waiting at the metro exit to whisk us to the Kennedy Center. There was a short wait to go back but beats paying $20ish to park.

I've been riding this public transit nt entire life. However the last five weeks have been such a headache from WMATA's customer service that it's really made me consider if I need to just suck it up and drive into DC or take the bus. I used the SmartTrip app to reload my MetroCard and for over a MONTH the funds have been "pending". I called WMATA customer service, I emailed them multiple times, and even reached out to their official Reddit account. And I've been ignored, invalidated, gaslit a couple times, and some instances I've been disrespected by staff that clearly didn't want to be at work. I've always come with a level head but firm tone given how many times I've contacted WMATA and they have not resolved my issue. I'm irate and feel very disrespected and expected more from WMATA. As of 04/17 this issue still hasn't been resolved.

They do have stations peppered throughout and you can usually get to places pretty quick once you've got the map down. The people were much nicer than those I've experienced in NYC and it was a bit more like Chicago. Trains themselves clean and the stations weren't too bad either. Some a little dimly lit as you may be below-ground but still feels safe. Can't recommend enough - save gas, fees and frustration. Take the metro!

I used the YC mobile app & web app twice to get him a ride. Both times it said the driver would arrive in 4 mins--guess that's their default--but actually arrived in 15+ mins. When you book, they just tell you the ride is confirmed, but don't give you any information about the driver or how long it'll take for a few good long minutes. After a loooong wait, it says your driver is 4 mins away. The last time I booked with them, I watched the car on the app that had confirmed just sit, not move an inch, for probably 5 minutes solid. Geographically he was super close. Then for about 8 minutes he just inched along until he did finally reach the neighborhood. BUT, he whizzed right by the school and went down the street and just sat there. I called the service number 3 times-- it's just an automated machine. You can request to speak to the driver. Each of the three times I selected it, hoping to let him know that the school was behind him, it ring once and then hung up. After waiting for 16 minutes total for a car that was in the beginning had been like a 6-minute drive away, I cancelled the ride and ordered an uber for $8 more, which arrived in precisely 4 minutes.

The time I'm supposed to arrive at the clinic! Whomever I was talking to just kept repeating that my ride's for 10:45am. I hung up cursing. I get a call saying that cat # whatever is on the way. OK. Maybe this won't be too bad. Cab picks me up at approximately 10:37. On the way I see his meter running so I ask if I'm being charged for this ride? I most definitely am. But prepare yourself for a walk. Being on the Red Line you are well connected and can get anywhere you need to. The station itself is fairly deep underground. Around 150 feet below the surface you will find yourself on the typical DC platform. What is crazy here is the long escalator that takes you to another escalator to reach street level. I had wondered why so many people were opting for the elevator here. I now know why. If you are up for it, you are more than welcome to climb the escalator, but you will definitely be tired by the time you are all the way up. Trains are scheduled regularly. Decently maintained.

I hopped on expecting a chill, leisurely cruise like some other cities' subways, but nope this thing hauled ass right out of the gate. It accelerated like it was late for a very important date, screeching around corners, jerking side to side like a caffeinated New York train on steroids. The cars were swaying wildly, I was gripping the pole for dear life, laughing out loud thinking, "Subway gone wild! This is a thrill ride disguised as public transit!" It was hilarious and exhilarating definitely not your grandma's slow commuter train. (They've probably smoothed things out a bit with more automation these days, but that memory still cracks me up.) If you're visiting D.C. in the winter months when it's freezing out, ducking into the Metro (especially at Smithsonian) is a lifesaver warm, quick, and drops you right in the heart of everything. Parking downtown is a nightmare and wallet-killer, so snag a cheaper hotel farther out, jump on the train, and zoom in without the hassle. It's a smart, affordable way to get around, and if you're a train nerd like me, that wild ride might just become the story you tell for the rest of your life.
