Love the train here. It goes everywhere in town. Really easy to use and connect just about anywhere. This one had a little store as you entered the station which was pretty cool

It's hip to be McPherson Square

I have a very furry son (my son kitten), but he's not a McFurrySon because he's not Scottish (as far as I know). So I see there's not a lot of love for the DC Metro stations - probably because of their parking issues, or closing times, which are exactly why I don't give them high ratings myself. It's the New York Metro's credit for providing comparatively good late night travel although it's not great. Still, DC has its strong points. This station is palatial and clean and functional and a lot better than some of the New York stops... and it smells better too, but so do most toilets.

McPherson Square has a pretty dirty Metro station convenient to the area. It attracts so many panhandlers. This doesn't seem as busy as other stations. It's nice the Renwick Gallery is close. This only seems to get mostly tourists because of it being close to the White House and other stuff. It serves the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines. It's the station closest to the White House. This is a popular stop for tourists. It surprisingly doesn't often get that busy. The station isn't terrible but it's not as good as many others. Lots of tourists find this station convenient. This also gets you close to Franklin Square. It's another park like McPherson Square, each located about a block away. There's a few museums like the Renwick Gallery, which isn't as busy as the other art museums. It has a couple of exits. Take the 14th Street NW Avenue exit to go toward the White House. Take the Vermont Avenue exit to go to some good restaurants.

Pay attention to which side you're exiting from here. I've made the mistake of getting out at the Vermont side when I really wanted to get out on the 14 street side. Not that this station is that big and confusing like some such as gallery place or metro center where you really have to know which exit you're getting out of. I don't use this station often unless it's to go to the Park on 14th or Toro Toro. This station conveniently on the orange, blue and silver lines. Recently when I was here I was having issues with my smart trip card and the station manger was very helpful (to my pleasant surprise). I say that to say that not all station managers are created equal. Some really don't enjoy their job.

The station manager is always pleasant, but what is wrong with the air control in this station ?? It is always EXTREMELY HOT inside of the station . Please fix this.

Look who met me at this station.

Make certain you are in the correct line because the destination is not listed by the gate or at least we didn't see any indication of destination. It as a scenic comfortable ride. Our only mistake is we chose seats that faced the opposite direction of the train's route. The train is clean. Staff come around a few times to collect trash. There are bins above the seats for luggage. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. Each stop is announced clearly. A departing passenger has approximately 3-4 minutes to depart the train. There is a snack bar located in one of the cars.

1 Star - Beautiful Station, Absolutely Terrible Customer Service!…read more Washington, D.C.'s Union Station itself is a beautiful facility with a lot to offer. Unfortunately, the customer service from both Amtrak and VRE personnel leaves a whole lot to be desired! Amtrak's customer service was terrible, but VRE was even worse! The woman responsible for directing passengers to the proper gate was downright rude, unprofessional, and unnecessarily yelling at people. There is absolutely no excuse for treating paying passengers that way, especially when they're simply trying to figure out where they need to go. Traveling can already be stressful enough without having to deal with employees who act as though helping passengers is an inconvenience. Customer service should involve patience, professionalism, and basic respect. Apparently, those qualities were missing during my experience. Union Station deserves 5 stars for the facility, but Amtrak and VRE customer service deserve ZERO stars! Management at both Amtrak and VRE seriously needs to address how their employees interact with the traveling public. Passengers are customers, not nuisances, and nobody deserves to be yelled at for simply asking for directions. A beautiful train station means very little when the people representing the transportation services make the experience so unpleasant. DO BETTER, AMTRAK AND VRE!

It's free. It may not be quick all the time due to traffic…read morein the area, but it will get you where you need to go and back. The only stops it makes are Kennedy Center and Foggy Bottom Metro. Location (Foggy Bottom Metro): There is a "Kennedy Center Shuttle" sign located on 23rd Street NW, DC. It is located near the exits for Foggy Bottom Metro and George Washington University Hospital. Once you see the shuttle sign, just wait there until the next shuttle arrives. The area in front of the shuttle sign can get a bit congested at times with other vehicles. Not to worry. If there are other vehicles stopped in that area, the shuttle will move a little closer to the traffic light that is near there, and pick/drop people off from that spot. It's all about safety. Location (Kennedy Center): They have a sign on the curb outside the Kennedy Center for the shuttle. If you are facing the building, look to your left. It will be by the entrance to the Hall of Nations. Once you get in the shuttle, grab a seat. Once all seats are taken, you can stand in the aisle and grab one of the handles hanging from the bars above. They are not very comfortable as the drive is not a straight one all the way. If you don't want to stand, you can always wait for the next shuttle (they run approximately every 15 minutes). Schedule for the Shuttle per Kennedy Center's website * Mondays = 9:45am to 11:30pm. * Tuesdays = 9:45am to 11:30pm. * Wednesdays = 9:45am to 11:30pm. * Thursdays = 9:45am to 11:30pm. * Fridays = 9:45am to 12am (midnight). * Saturdays = 9:45am to 12am (midnight). * Sundays = 11:45am to 11pm. Federal Holidays = 4pm to 11pm. Don't forget to thank the driver. Visited (Rode) August 2024

Christopher set me up with a cab for the day on Thursday ( a whole lot cheaper than a limo) so we could do Arlington, Mt. Vernon and back. The rest of the weekend I used the YCDC App and it worked beautifully. Again, no limos, but timely, nice drivers and easy. We tried to get an Uber once, but ended up going back to Yellow Cab. We had a wonderful time celbrating the 250th, and YCDC took away the travel worries I had envisioned. I will use them again.

I used the YC mobile app & web app twice to get him a ride. Both times it said the driver would arrive in 4 mins--guess that's their default--but actually arrived in 15+ mins. When you book, they just tell you the ride is confirmed, but don't give you any information about the driver or how long it'll take for a few good long minutes. After a loooong wait, it says your driver is 4 mins away. The last time I booked with them, I watched the car on the app that had confirmed just sit, not move an inch, for probably 5 minutes solid. Geographically he was super close. Then for about 8 minutes he just inched along until he did finally reach the neighborhood. BUT, he whizzed right by the school and went down the street and just sat there. I called the service number 3 times-- it's just an automated machine. You can request to speak to the driver. Each of the three times I selected it, hoping to let him know that the school was behind him, it ring once and then hung up. After waiting for 16 minutes total for a car that was in the beginning had been like a 6-minute drive away, I cancelled the ride and ordered an uber for $8 more, which arrived in precisely 4 minutes.
