I guess the customer who rides metro regular really gets screwed as driving downtown is horrific by itself. The ads all tell us the train is easier with the endless delays, filthy cars and lack of any management in stations. I did pick up an idea if you don't want to pay. I watched this one go by while the dude in the little hut is playing in his phone. A woman has a small child plus a stroller. She sends the kid through the end turnstile which opens when the kid touches the card to the card reader. She walks on through with the stroller and pays nothing (aside from the kid). It's genius. Maybe Elmo is available to be hired.

Being that I was attending a conference nearby, this was the closest Metro stop for me to take to get to where I was going. I really need to get out more and discover more of DC. Maybe I'll try to use every Metro station to do this. Woodley Park services the neighborhood namesake and Adams Morgan. It is the best station to utilize if you find yourself going to the Zoo. But prepare yourself for a walk. Being on the Red Line you are well connected and can get anywhere you need to. The station itself is fairly deep underground. Around 150 feet below the surface you will find yourself on the typical DC platform. What is crazy here is the long escalator that takes you to another escalator to reach street level. I had wondered why so many people were opting for the elevator here. I now know why. If you are up for it, you are more than welcome to climb the escalator, but you will definitely be tired by the time you are all the way up. Trains are scheduled regularly. Decently maintained.

Also I like the newer monitors, which let you know your trains ETA. The guessing game was fun, but no one has time for that anymore. Escalators and elevators are working here! It's been a full week since reviewing a public parking garage and after a flood of feverish requests for more, here ya go. LOL I was sooo super stoked about this parking garage. Never mind that there is a mess of construction just a little outside of the garage, the inside of the garage is spacious, clean, well lit and most importantly, easy to navigate. No questioning where is in and out. No risk of being stuck in there all night. Just simple, pimple. On top of that, the most amazing part was when I went to pay at the machine with my ticket, and after parking for 8 hrs my total was only $6?!? I don't know of any other public garages in the area where you can park that long for so cheap! That works out to like, $0.75 an hour! What a deal. At this rate, maybe I could become the Yelp Public Parking Garage Official? Sexy isn't it?

This B&B is ranked #2 in DC on tripadvisor's website (#1 is owned by the same company) and I can totally see why they have such excellent ratings. The B&B is exactly what I was looking for. Right on a metro line (red about a block away, unless you take the elevator which is even closer) and had a number of things to do within walking distance. We arrived around 3pm on a Thursday and checked in and was given a quick tour of the place. Our room was the bay window room on the second floor. It was quite nice. After we checked in we went for a stroll around the zoo (three blocks up the road on the right). Then headed down towards Dupont Circle and got some great coffee (Filter) and some gelato! Then took the metro back. Everything was extremely clean and the staff was super helpful. We spent every night out on the porch drinking some wine (part of the livingsocial deal) and people watching. This is in a very safe part of town and all around nice. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area! My only complaint is that the boy and I like to sleep in and the walls are pretty thin so we could hear other guests knocking on the doors and talking, but that was a very minor issue.
