Dulles Airport Bus Stop
Ingris R.

The fare cost for the 5A is $6.00 for SmarTrip/Cash and $3.00 for Seniors/Disability. East Bound is Washington Dulles International to L'Enfant Plaza. West Bound is L'Enfant Plaza to Washington Dulles International. It originates at L'Enfant Plaza, proceeds to Rosslyn Metro Station, third stop is Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride and final destination is Washington Dulles International Airport. The L'Enfant Plaza stop can be confusing to find. My advice - walk up to a metro employee and ask them. Once you get the hang of it - you won't need help. Claire's tip is super useful! The Rosslyn Metro Station stop is easy to find and the Metro employees there are awesome! They are more than happy to guide you. You go up the super long escalator - exit to your left. When you reach the street make a left. You will see the 5A stop there along with many others. It's directly across the street from the McDonalds'. The stop at the Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride is easy to find because it is a commuter station - just look at the bus signs or ask the commuter station employees. The Washington Dulles International Airport stop is truly confusing. There aren't clear signs until you step out of the airport. Just read the signs for Hotel Pick Up/Rental Car Shuttles. All of these are on the "Curb Level." So exit out of Door 4 and go to Curb 2E - there are always people hanging around waiting cause it such an awesome deal! http://www.wmata.com/bus/timetables/dc/05a.pdf

A direct, fast and easier transportation, compared to Metro that requires a bus to cover the gap in stations.

If arriving, follow signs to baggage claim and then go down (not up) the ramp to exit at Door 4.

We jumped on the 5A at Dulles and got off in Rosslyn. Was painless and only $6 per person. It took about 30-35 minutes.

What will $40 coupled with a dashing smile and a charming personality get you ? Well maybe that,…read morebut a more surprising answer awaits you at the end of this review. Yelp events always seem to be downtown and I live in Reston Town Center. It is clearly enlightened social consciousness rather than the furtive whispers one hears of proactively planning to partake of free wine that drives my use of public transportation to get to these events. Good planning by Miriam results in many of the events being located within walking distance of an Orange line stop. Bus Route 505 is the link between Town Center and the West Falls Church Metro station. Other than only having a $1 cover charge the best thing about this bus is that one can now use their SmartPass to pay. This aspect needs more publicity. I cite the female lollygaggers who flaunt all the principles of topology by managing to deposit well over 100 coins one by one into the boarding vending machine while everyone on the bus noticeably ages. There is no way a purse can actually hold all of those coins, then again this could be a masculine bias in volumetric perception. The relative bang for the buck that you get for your cover charge is highly correlated with the time of boarding. Basically be sure to ride after 10 pm. If your concept of value is more Swiss then don't board between 5pm and 6 pm. ESOL ? Anytime works. So in addition to Yelp parties this is also the bus one takes to get to Wolf Trap. Take the 505 to West falls Church and then get the shuttle. No problem, unless it is Sunday night. I learned the hard way that the shows let out after the last bus back to Reston. The shuttle bus driver said relax all will be good. After everyone else got off he actually drove us and 4 other friends back to Reston. The $40 tip made his day.

I take Uber and Lyft almost always a weekly basis or traveling to the airport…read more Sometimes one is better than the other. A few Uber options are as follows: Uberx is the basic: warning though you might end up in a hoopty. Cracked windshields or a car thats been keyed by a jealous ex. UberBlack -luxury car UberSUV for a large party. UberXl is a step up from basic. I used this one recently. I rode in a nice Dodge Durango at a pool rate. So from Union Station to my destination. However because it was pooled, I was last to go home #sadface. This guy drove slow and I mean slow! However now there are better options now, for us ladies to ride safer. Ladies you can request a female driver now!! I only had one bad experience with Uber but that was a very long time ago. I like this that i can request a female driver and feel safer. If your going home from the airport, make sure you have both apps open and plug in your destination. They prices vary. So from Dulles to home is about 25 miles my ride was only $30. Lyft was me charging $73. Also refresh your app. The rates change. So when its in high demand . The prices go up. Wait a little and see that the prices will drop. Also doing UberShare helps save . I never have to share a ride I also have UberOne which saves me money but im under a promotion period for 30 days.

Uber abandoned me at the airport and the app broke down. I scheduled a ride from the airport to my…read moreapartment A DAY BEFORE. I got off the plane to find my Uber driver 40 minutes away. I called him and he had no explanation except "Call Uber". BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE. I was unable to cancel the ride for another because your app thought my ride was "in progres" AND it wouldn't let me log in to make a phone call through the app or get help. Over and over again for an hour I tried to get help from Uber and couldn't reach a SINGLE PERSON. When I finally did--all they could do was charge me $30 for the trip you forced me to cancel THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WHEN I ARRIVED and then charge me $78 for a new ride--$30 MORE THAN THE RIDE I HAD SCHEDULED. I've now paid $100 to wait an hour to get home when I should've paid $40 to not have to wait at all. They stole money from me, failed to help me when they left me stranded at the airport, finally *did* connect me with an agent only to charge me more than double for all the difficulty, and then made it impossibly difficult to even ASK for a refund--because there's no phone service for customer support. Just their circular AI and a series of multiple choice options THAT DO NOT COVER ALL POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. They're obviously trying very hard to take ZERO responsibility for your failures. So please know that I will NEVER use UBER again. I'm so done with them that I'm copy-pasting this review anywhere else that I can and giving them as many 1-star ratings as humanly possible.
