Lobster Bites

Food was amazing, mac n cheese was a little dry though lol. Service was awesome shoutout to shawn/sean (im not sure of spelling lol) but he was great, energy was there 10/10!! We sat in the private dining room and the ambience was 1000/10.

The service, ambiance and food were all outstanding! While the food is five star, the dress doesn't have to be. Steak-house casual or dressed up, either works for this delicious dining experience. The high booths in the bar area are a favorite of mine for people watching and a more laid back date-night dining experience. I was amazed at the good selections of wine, especially those wineries from CA and OR that made it onto the list. The server was knowledgeable and had been with DC Prime since it opened. He had great things to say about the owner and business overall. His compliments about the food and management seemed genuine and when we met the manager he was laid-back and friendly. The oysters were delish, but the pork belly stole the show! Not only was it cooked to perfection, the sauce was a show stopper! This is a must try! My favorite steak is the rib eye, as it's seasoned to perfection and so tender. The fries are enormous - like a quarters potato enormous! Totally worth trying if you're on the fence. The brussel sprouts were absolutely delicious and I would get them every-time.

Honestly: disappointment on high price tag. Starting from the bad * Ambiance: too crowded, tables are extremely close one to another, no background music ( as you expect in "classy" restaurant) but chattering noise as you are in a chip diner somewhere at the train station ‍ * Garnish portions are big( good or bad you decide) Too much for 1 person, pointless to share if people like different things. Who will take home a leftover whole head of broccoli with questionable cheesy sause * Wanna feel special for birthday or special ocasion? Too bad, nobody give a damn! If you are lucky, you get a candle lighted, if not, just get your piece of something sweet and go home! * Not very kid friendly. I know, you all have nannies and don't take kids for date nights out to such a "fancy" places, but let's be honest : there is no Adults only sign on the door. * Not the best cuts of meat for such a price. But on the good part is the only place they got right my medium rare Now to the good part: *Not bad celection of wines, tasty cocktails * Properly made tasty wagyu beef carpaccio ! *Personnel try to do their best to smile to you and try to serve you food before it's too cold Overall I consider it overrated and not worse the money spent.

Absolutely one of my favorite steakhouses, they never miss. Food, Service, and Atmosphere are always a vibe. Any day of the week. Few words are needed, just go.

This is my go-to for good food and a great time (without dealing with DC traffic. It's a gem that I've been addicted to for years. Want to know my favorites? Steak, all the sides, and I keep it simple with a piece of cheesecake. They have a wine and cocktail menu as well. I opt for coffee, which is served French pressed. Be careful not to over indulge on their bread...it can happen! What I love most about this place is being able to get my steak the way I like it prepared, while having a family feel while enjoying it. They are not trying to over sell you with anything or disturb your bites every 3 minutes. As soon as you enter, you will be greeted and treated like the great human you are. And...because there is ample parking...you're calm and ready for a great meal! If you have a family, they are able to accommodate larger parties. Give them a go and let me know what you thought!! xo

Tomahawk Bone - In Ribeye*

This was a birthday treat, the host to the severs were welcoming and kind. The ambiance is great for a birthday date, bathrooms were nicely kept and clean. We got the fried lobster appetizer to start and it was amazing. Great texture, crisp crunch and nice soft yet chewy lobster center. There were only 6 ~ish pieces of lobster that were about the size of a quarter (pretty small). Taste was 5 stars but the portion could be better for $30. I had gotten the tomahawk for dinner with a side of Ceaser and broccoli crowns to share and my wife got the surf and turf. The steak was great, cooked perfectly around, pretty tender overall. I wish that I had more rib cap on the tomahawk, but it was still tender enough. My wife's steak and lobster was great, tender and good! She had no complaints. I had specially requested my broccoli to be on the crispier end and not to be overcooked. I had requested to be lightly steamed and was assured that it would be. However, when the waitress asked about the food, I told her that it was overcooked and wasn't very good. She didn't respond with anything to compensate or to have a reorder (a slight disappointment in how she handled it, or lack of). The salad was on the smaller end, a standard Ceaser salad, nothing to write home about. I had also asked for a rum punch with my meal but sadly it didn't arrive until the end of my meal when she remembered, I held off mentioning it because I wasn't sure if I wanted it anymore. When arrived, she said it was on hold and sitting there without being delivered (even though the ice was fresh and not melted). Also nothing to compensate or apologies. The key lime pie was the dessert and it was alright, also nothing amazing or special. Pretty basic. TLDR: Fried Lobster is a MUST Steak was good, would get again Sides were mediocre and honestly wouldn't get them again. (Annoyed that it wasn't comped or remade) Service started out great but she wasn't able to make the customer service adjustments that would've made the experience better. 3 stars for the service 2 stars for the sides 4.5 stars for the steak and appetizer

half portion of Gem Lettuce Salad

We were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner. I found DC Prime on Yelp and saw the great reviews which led us to make a reservation. I must say from start to finish, service was impeccable. When we arrived a bit early for our reservation, the staff at the host stand wished us a happy anniversary. Then they gave us a card. The decor says loudly and clearly "upscale steak house" with rich, dark wood, crushed velvet booth backs and seats and backs with leather at the tables. Our server came along shortly after we were seated at our table. He introduced himself and told us about the place. It's not a chain. The owner is there on site. We were told we would recognize him as he would be wearing a suit and had "silver hair"--- and yes, we did see him as he watched over the operation making sure all was well. Once we looked over the drink menu, our server took our order. I chose a martini that sounded interesting, "The gingered politician". It consists of: "Belvedere Smogory vodka, canton ginger liqueur, cointreau, parma liqueur, lime juice". This was a strong drink with the dominant flavor being ginger. My husband chose to have a glass of Catena Mendoza Malbec, which he said was good quality. We were each also given a complimentary glass of champagne. For starters, I chose to have the gem lettuce salad. Our server asked if we wanted to split the portion as he said it was a large salad. We agreed to do so and were glad that we did. It consists of: "grilled asparagus, radish, artichoke, avocado, fresh herbs, lemon champagne vinaigrette". We both enjoyed this and thought all the ingredients worked well together. My husband also ordered a Jumbo shrimp cocktail which came with five shrimp and horseradish cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge. He enjoyed the cocktail sauce saying that the horseradish added a nice kick to it. For our main course, we both got an eight oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. This steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, flavorful and tender. After our server brought it to us, he had us cut into them to see if we were happy with how they came out. We got two sides. One was the one pound loaded baked potato. It comes to the table hot and the toppings are served on the side. They consisted of sour cream, butter and shredded cheese. I liked this way of serving it as we could each add as little or more to our serving. We also got the French beans which were tender crisp green beans with braised fennel, roasted tomato and basil. While we enjoyed them, we didn't taste any fennel. Finally, it surprised us that we had room for dessert. We both got creme brulee that had blueberries and blackberries served on the side. The portion was reasonable in size with a nice brulee crust and a smooth custard. As a nice touch, "happy anniversary" was written in chocolate on our serving plates. For sure, this was a splurge of a dinner but we both felt it was worth it. If we were to go again, my husband said that he would only order one side and it would be the potato. He also was glad that the salad was split into two portions

Japanese A5 Wagyu
Kelly M.

I used to love this steakhouse, but after my last visit, I'll never go back. I splurged on the Japanese A5 Wagyu for $130, expecting a melt-in-your-mouth experience, but what I got was absolutely foul. Every bite was full of gristle--I had to quietly spit out almost every piece into my napkin. It was completely inedible. The only reason I didn't send it back was because we were there for my mom's birthday, and I didn't want to ruin the night. But honestly, I should have. No steak at this price point should be that bad. Total waste of money, and the fact that the staff didn't even notice or ask if something was wrong just made it worse. This place has seriously gone downhill. Save your money and go somewhere else. Morton's has a wonderful Japanese a5!

Whitley M.

I am so sad that this place has an overall 3.9 star review.. From the ambiance to the service to the food it is all amazing! I always get a medium rare fillet with truffle butter and the steak fry trio and I never have any complaints. I went for a birthday and got a cake and a birthday card from the restaurant! I think the negative reviews are older with heavy complaints about service and that is just not the case anymore! If you are in the Ashburn area go have an amazing dinner here!

Lobscargot

DC Prime Steaks is a stand-alone restaurant located in an industrial or business area. There is a large parking lot, so parking is easy. Nice and elegantly decorated. Full bar, and a good wine cellar. Dry aged beef is displayed by the bar area. The service is very good here. Our server was very attentive, helpful, and provided excellent service to us. These two appetizers were ordered off their special.menu Lobscargot: tender lobster meat baked in their house-made garlic-herb butter, packed with parmesan & panko served with grilled bread. 11oz RIBEYE topped with a 6oz grilled North Atlantic lobster tail garlic herb butter sauce. The steak was cooked medium rare, nicely marbled and beefy. The lobster was really tasty with the butter sauce. The sides were all very good and are on their regular menu. MASHED POTATOES - smooth, creamy, and rich. BRUSSELS SPROUTS - Miso maple glaze & bacon. Firmer than expected, but very tasty. CREAM SPINACH - creamy and cheesy. CHARRED ASPARAGUS - this can with a lemon cream sauce, which was a great pairing. ROASTED WILD MUSHROOMS - shitake, meitake, crimini, button, etc. MAC N CHEESE - creamy, rich, and savory. WHISKEY SOUR: Bulleit Bourbon, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Egg White, Wine float. This was expertly made and very good.

trio fries and lobscargo

An evening at DC Prime Steaks is definitely a treat and special event worthy. I treated my friend here for her birthday. My friend has dined here a couple of times and wanted to celebrate here. It was my first time. Service definitely delivered and they made my friend feel special. In terms of dishes, the steak was definitely the highlight of our meal. They do steaks well and when they say this is the prime cut, you can taste it. I had my eye on the ribeye but unfortunately, the ribeye delivery didn't make it in that evening. So our server recommended picanha from their specials menu. It was cooked perfectly medium rare, tender, buttery, and we can taste the marbling. It was also served on a warm plate. It was a fantastic cut of steak. I would say slightly better than a good cut from Capital Grille and Ruth's Chris Steak House, but not by that much. In terms of sides, the wild mushroom and brussels sprouts were not that impressive. The steak fries were huge, like this is what steak fries are suppose to look like. We ordered the trio and I didn't really like one more than the other. They were all "meaty" with potatoes and one price was more than enough for me. The dipping sauce that came with the fries tasted like it can out of a bottle. The lobscargo was good. It was buttery, savory, with a good amount of tender lobster meat. Oddly, that dish only came with 2 pieces of bread when there were 6 slots of lobscargo. And they charged us $3 for an additional 2 pieces of bread so we could finish the rest of that dish. I didn't quite like that. And you can't have a meal with steak without dessert and they do steak house dessert. The portion sizes are huge. My friend and I loved the truffle ice cream and it was so big, the two of us couldn't even finish it. Their key lime pie wasn't a favorite. All in all, good meal, though a bit pricey for what you get. This place was packed on a Friday evening. Our server was very attentive and sincere. Maybe a little bit too much. There were times when I forgot what my friend and I were talking about after she checked on us. We got sidetracked. I also think it's nice they are attentive at clearing the tables. I didn't finish my bread and she took away the butter. Otherwise, it was a fantastic meal and experience.

Nice, roomy restaurant which never came close to filling up on a Saturday lunch. Booze was tasty but lotsa ice. Kids meals were likely the best deal. Seemed like they were really short staffed which made table service rather slow. Hostesses weren't very welcoming nor that helpful. Kinda just stood around chatting until they were required to act when customers walked up to them to get help. Kitchen staff was hopping! But. The food. Um. Not yum. But not entirely horrible either. Seemed like a lot of stuff was from the night before. Warmed over yet not hot nor warm by the time it got to the table. Stuff under the heat lamp too long got over cooked while the stuff underneath the overcooked stuff was lukewarm to cold. Would think one couldn't mess up donuts, but these were fried in old oil (probably from the night before since we arrived at opening). Blobs of bland dough that were really dark on the outside but gooey, mushy, and not thoroughly cooked on the inside. That bitter taste from old oil really ruined any hope of enjoying what sounded delish on the menu. The donuts were rather disgusting. In general, the food just didn't taste really fresh or mouthwatering. Salty, maybe. From the bread to the entrees, most everything fell flat. An expensive flat. Worth the drive? Overall, while we had good service minus the hostesses, the food & value just doesn't warrant giving it another shot, which is disappointing. It's a place you'd want to really like, but it's missing something significant that makes you want to return to give it one more try. Just wish the food had been a lot better.
